This movie is made by a film maker who is a uterine cancer survivor but will likely speak to each of us.  I plan to attend.  Following the showing, there will be a panel discussion.  Check out the website for more details.  Let me know if you are going to be there.  I don't know how many women on this site are from the Boston area.  Debbie

The World Premiere of COMMIT TO THE LINE:
    THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2008, 8PM
at the Coolidge Corner Theater (Movie House II), Boston, MA

    ** PREMIERE ** PREMIERE ** PREMIERE **
Commit to the Line is a non-fiction, feature-length film and chronicles the adventures of women as they undertake an intense all-women mountain biking camp at Whistler Mountain in British Columbia. The camp is called Spokeswomen Mountain Bike Camp and features some of the most prominent names in women's mountain biking acting as camp instructors. The camp participants cover a wide-range of ability and age. The participants arrive at Whistler Mountain from all over the globe to experience the most intense downhill/freeriding mountain bike park in the world. Learning from the accomplished Spokeswomen instructors allows the women to move beyond their current abilities and accomplish extraordinary goals in this incredible, world-renowned mountain bike park. It focuses on the experience of the film's director, Rachelle Dermer, who took the camp one year after finishing treatment for uterine cancer. She returns to the camp to make her film and ultimately takes the camp again at her two-year anniversary.

p.s. I also dabble in mountain biking.  I think a camp like this may be for me.  I would like to be a more fearless rider.

Debbie just watched the trailer for the movie from youtube that camp is absolutely wonderful.

I had unfortunate experience with mtb 3 years ago, went with the wrong crowd(never underestimate older guys who call themselves wussies.. ) on an unrated trail for 35 miles, came home like a domestic ause case. Might want to start the right way again.. hmmm now where is this camp ?

Thanks for the youtube.  Guess what?  I had to go on a business trip.  So I'm sitting here at a Doubletree in Schaumberg, IL for a two day meeting and missing the movie.  <boo hoo>.  I'll find it and watch it eventually.

But yes, go with the wrong crowd mountain biking and you could soil your pants and be a little put off mtb.  However, I would like to be more fearless on the bike.  We could go together.  Whistler in BC is a great place.  :-)
