Worried and Scared

I am really frightened. I found a lump in my left breast. And now I have another lump in the right one. I am in a lot of pain. You see I have been through some trauma, I was assaulted and do not trust anyone which makes it even harder for me to go to the doctor. I cannot handle any contact at all. I was sexually assaulted by someone at a hospital. I trusted this person and now that trust is gone. Im so scared and confused. What I am to do now. My mother had one of her breasts removed and she has an implant in the other one. This is a really major concern to me.

Dear Whyne9...I am so sorry to hear what you have been through....has this been reported? I can understand the feeling of not wanting any contact..but is there someone who could maybe go the dr with you to help ease your anxiety? You need support from someone who you can trust...have you discussed this with any friends or relatives? How long have these lumps been going on?
You must find a way to overcome this fear and be seen by a dr. you trust. perhaps a female doctor in your area?
You are not alone, the women here are incredibly supportive and will help you through this troubling time..Hang in there, ...Annie

Whyne9,
Gitane and anniee had some good suggestions. I'm also posting a link to suggestions from last week, just to make it easier for you to find them.
Can you have a friend go with you as anniee suggests? And can you find a woman doctor, if you would feel more comfortable with a woman?

Lifting you up in prayer ((Whyne)). I agree with the ladies here. Find a friend you trust to go with you. Take care of both the phsychological and the medical issues, you are worth it.

Dear whyne9, I just read your message - I am so sorry that your trust was abused and that it was somebody who has so much power. I know this will be hard for you, but please go to the Doctors. You can ask for somebody to be in the room with you, even just a nurse if you dont want to take somebody you know. My heart goes out to you. You are so much better than this creature that abused you. DO not be afraid of the repercussions if you decide to prosecute.
My daughter was abused by my ex-husbands father. She received counselling even though she had spoken to me. But the best thing she ever did was reporting it. She was believed and he didnt get away with it. You can make a difference whyne x

It's been 4 days since you posted, and you've been in my thoughts. I hope you have been able to take the steps to get medical advice and have found the trusted person you need to get help. Let us know, please.

Sweetie I know what you are feeling. I've been in your shoes although mine was different circumstances the end result was the same. Because of it I didn't go to a gyn for 11 years. It was a big mistake and I came very close to having cervical cancer and bled everyday for several months before going. What I had to do was tell my drs and close friends that I was sexually abused and let them recommend a few doctors that they know and would trust their mothers and daughters to. Thats how I approached it. I called the office and screened the appointment setter, then screened the nurse then the doctor. Clothes never came off until I found the right one. Take advantage of you medical insurance and go to several for consultations only. You'll know when you've found the right one. I did and I found a lady doctor that I've been going to for 6 years and both my daughters now go to.
Also if you have someone close to you that you feel safe with take them with you!! I still go to my daughters appts to make them feel more comfortable (ages 18 and 19). I sit next to their heads( to give privacy of course) and PRETEND to read a magazine. But they know I'm there and would never allow anything to harm them. So take a friend or loved one with you. You don't have to do this alone and if you meet a dr who doesn't allow someone in there with you, move on chicky, red flag.
Good luck and remember what happened to you is not common practice and you didn't do anything to attract this so don't let him take the rest of you're life by not taking care of your health girl. It'll get easier. You'll always have your guard up and thats expected but trust me but it gets easier. You're not nieve or weak. Take care of yourself for your loved ones and yourself.
Take care toots!
