I seem to be slower than molasses in finding out about new fads.  I was just reading on the internet that Hoodia, catus plant from South Africa, helps to suppress appetite.  I've gained so many pound since my diagnosis that I refuse to even get on the scale.  Nothing else works very well, but my appetite is superb.

Does it work, and do any of you who use it have a recommendation for a brand that I can purchase at my local vitamin/herb store?  And how long before it begins working--I have a class reunion coming up, and since I was the skinniest girl in my graduating class I need a quick remedy! LOL

hoodia didn't work for me or my mom, but maybe others on here have had success with it.  i found it was real hit and miss.  one day it seemed to curb my appetite a little (possibly my imagination) and then the next day it didn't.  i finally gave up.

it's such a struggle taking it off...i'm right there with you. good luck!

I don't have much weight to lose, maybe 8 pounds or so, but I can say that hoodia did not affect my appetite at all, one way or the other. I wasn't really invested in it, so maybe I didn't have the proper attitude. I'm finding, oddly enough, that getting very regular sleep (7-7.5 hours/night) keeps my appetite completely under control. When I get off track and have a late night and/or very early morning (or sleep too late), I'm ravenous all day and it's always for simple carbs and salty snacks. I've realized this after many years of not seeing rhyme or reason to my appetite fluctuations so, for me, I've finally found the secret. Now I need to cut out "reward eating'....ya know, when you've done something challenging and "deserve" a treat? Yeah, my challenge is usually working all day or using leave-in deep hair conditioner Undecided Embarassed!

Anyway, I say skip the hoodia, develop very good sleep habits amd, above all, EXERCISE!!!! (you knew I would get around to that, didn't you? Wink)

Yes, the exercise, and the one thing I just don't do. I'm quite a bit overweight, gained at least 25 pounds since diagnosis and was overweight before that.  I'm looking for all the easy solutions.  But I will say, I sleep very very well. Thanks and since it's expensive I'll skip the Hoodia unless someone swears to me that it works.

I have a bottle on my shelf...it didn't do a thing for me.  Marin...your line about "reward eating"....ohmagosh..that is me to a T.  Although, usually it's "hey, I've had cancer...I know how precious life is...I deserve this_________" fill in the sweet, carb-laden, chocolate filled blank. Tongue out   But I'll start using the deep conditioner one, too. LOL
