Why do I need a fitted prothesis?

I had a bi-lat mast in Dec. I found Maidenform ShapeMates today for $30. They're silicone and fit into every regular bra I have as well as in bathsuits (OK in salt water). They're comfortable and don't ride up. Why couldn't I just wear these?

Hi Shrink,

You certainly don't need a fitted prosthesis. I went to the "mastectomy store" and they offered to make a breast form by taking a mold of my remaining breast. I opted to take one off the shelf and it looks terrific. I checked out the ShapeMates and think they're a great way to go.

I use one of the silicone stick-in forms and let the padded bra hold it in place. Works fine for me.

Yes, I'd like to know also. The set I bought were called "Takeouts" from Blissworld.com, but I don't see them listed any more. They were $48.

I got them in a Maidenform outlet store. Maybe dept. stores which carry Maidenform carry the ShapeMates as well. There's a web site - maidenform.com (what else). Bet you can order them directly. They cost $29.95. They came with or without nipples and light or dark.
