Hate to be a thread hog, but had to share this with you gals.

So.. this half marathon was my carrot all throughout chemo and I trained slugging the miles only to have my exhange surgery to be scheduled on Thursday the 14th( the event is on the17th). could not delay the surgery cause my rads are waiting on it.

Managed to talk the dh into driving me there on Saturday(with my PS's ok) to spectate and support my friends and family who were doing the event. It was tiring but exhilirating at the same time...There were 8 first timers in my group !!!

and it seems like we were on the local news with mydaughter !!

How cool!  Thanks for sharing this...you and your daughter are beautiful!

I grew up in Jacksonville...good to see the city behind a good cause.

Way to go Aylin!  You look great!  You must have been so emotional being there.  Seeing the video brings tears to my eyes.  I know how much you wanted to do the run but you were there to support your buddies who were there to support you.  And only a couple days after your surgery.  Way to go!

    Thanks Debbie,Lynn, Laurel

On one of the sleepless chemo nights  I read that our local news Anchor Wendy Chioji who is a 11 year bc survivor was doing it in Runners World magazine.. and I had registered for it at 3 AM!

So despite the 'tsktsk's from all well-intentioned but clueless-to-cancer-state-of-mind friends/relatives I went to Jacksonville and believe me that sped up my recovery from the surgery, even though I probably moved around more than I should have the whole weekend cause I did not want to miss a thing ! The expo, start line, .. turnaround at the beach .. finish line..

    Life is good !

( I have some pix from the event and my crew in my blog if you want to check it out )
