CATS = COMFORT & CHUCKLES
Comments

While reading the two conversations started by "thebandteacher" asking us to share info about our screen name and avatar, I noticed a lot of connection with and to cats. So....let's talk about our cats and how they've provided such great comfort and joy during our journey. I know my kitties helped me heal! PAWS for a while and enjoy reading the posts and contributing your story. Cheers, Ruth
PS: I'm trying to figure out how to get pix on here - not that I'm a proud mamma or anything!

About a week before my first chemo, we had to put my wonderful Helen (Newter) to sleep. That left me with one bad cat named Oliver. He is just not wired the same as nice cats but he is my responsibility and I just can't get anyone to take him, besides it would not be fair to them.Anyway, I was down to only one bad cat and I really wanted more. So, after my chemo and rads, my gift to myself was the above cat. I spent an afternoon at the local rescue village (where I had adopted my bad Oliver) and was very careful this time. Her name is Blueberry but we call her Blewter (rhymes with Newter, sorry to point out the obvious). She is just what the doctor ordered and just a wonderful addition to the household.
Thanks Ruth for starting this thread. I love to talk about my cats.

I love my animals. I have 2 cats and one dog and they all run this household. My cats names are Wesley and Lesley. My dogs name is Mister. When I was getting chemo - they all seemed to know and would come lay by me when I was in bed.
Recently my cat Wesley had an a bad infection in his face from my female cat Leslie scratching him. Just had the drain out yesterday and he is wearing a hood. Can you believe, as sick as he was, this morning he is running around trying to hump my female cat - who is neutered thank goodness. Guess the hood isnt keeping him from enjoying himself.
I love my cats and dog

I have two cats, and they were a great comfort to me while I was going through my bc dx and tx.
Spike is a black and white tuxedo. He was nearly a feral cat, because his Mother was feral and she was hanging out with a feral colony. Cats R Us, the cat rescue group found him, and starting to socialize him, getting him used to being held. He is now not the least bit afraid of strangers.
Thor is a Norwegian Forest cat, and he was Spike's cellmate at the shelter. He didn't have papers, so we don't know if he is a pure bred Norwegian, but I really think that he just may be full Norwegian... He got away from his owner, and was living in a car when the group found him.
They are both such wonderful companions! I really love them!Harley
