Bill Clinton Campaign Chair Endorses Obama!
"David Wilhelm said in a conference call today that Barack Obama was more electable than Senator Hillary Clinton. "............
-
Hi Joan!
Love Ya, Puppy
-
Joan---- don't look to me to explain anything about Hillary. Maybe she doesn't want folks to know the net worth of the clintons is upwards of $25 mil to the Obamas less than a million???? The Clintons have had questionable business ethics back to whitewater and have not been forthcoming until forced to be.
Shirley-- BASHING our country makes you sick? I feel sick that some support torture and are brainwashed by the war on terror/bush needs to get his ratings up. Did anyone hear Bush's opening to his speech yesterday, "goodmorning, all around the world terrorists are out to get us." He successfully manipulated the democrats to caving once again. BTW, I freely admit to bashing Bush, his failed policies and lies. I don't see what that has to do with your insinuation that that's bashing our country. We've heard your story about interfering with your daughter's friend's choice and fortunately that worked out well. What makes you think that if she had gone for the abortion she wouldn't have been counseled on her choices and decided that without your interference. Believe it or not, when people go for abortions there's no one at the door cackling-- we've got another one-- lets hurry and terminate the pregnancy before she changes her mind. Just what evidence do you have that terrorists would love Obama in office? I realize you don't know any personally. As for who would assassinate Obama--- I'm sure you're still aware that there is a segment of the population that is still racist (remember the Jena 6) and are threatened by the idea of a black president. He was the first candidate to get secret service protection because of the threats against him. Hillary had that protection before because of being an ex-first lady-- but hadn't had the level of threats against her. All it takes is one nut to assassinate-- remember JFK, RFK, MLK, Malcolm X and John Lennon among others.
Shirley-- if I didn't care about this country I wouldn't feel sick to my stomach-- waiting for election returns and be as close to praying as an atheist can get that Obama wins to save the soul of the USA. I probably care too much to let it effect me so much.
Joan your point about Rendell endorsing Hillary and his "owed" political favors is just another example of a superdelegate choosing Hillary with favors owed. We can't know if that's the only reason-- but his decision is questionable because of his political debt.
-
Well I just got sent a private message that I am not permitted to post on this thread anymore. Apparenly one of the posters here does not like my point of view and she told me not to post on any thread that she posts on. Since she posts on almost every thread I take it I am to leave the website?
Pinkribbonamy and Joanofardmore, that is what I meant when I said that other opinions are not welcome here. Thank you for asking me to stay.
I am going to find Shirley and Linda and see if they also "got the message"
Katie
-
I'm getting off this thread, b/c apparently Katie thinks I don't want her to post here. That is absolutely NOT what I said to her.
I'm not about to let one mean spirited person ruin it for me on these boards which have been my life line for the last three plus years.
Here's to a great election. Have a good time with the rest of the debate.
-
Katie-- why are you allowing one person to dictate where you post or is this an attempt to get people to tell you to stay? It's unfair to judge those who didn't sent you the pm by one person who did.
-
I think this debate is getting to be a bit much, so I'm respectfully bowing out of it.
I'm glad that there is so much excitement surrounding this election.
We'll see how it plays out.
-
Dear Amy,
No, I appreciate how fair and nice you have been even though we see politics differently.
I am not looking for anyone to ask me to stay.
I am just shocked I was told where I was "allowed" to post and where I wasn't. It was from one person, not the rest of you, so I am not judging the group by one nastygram.
Have a nice day everyone.
Katie

Katie, WHAT
!!!
You Post any place You want!!!!!
If some one has a problem with YOU, let them go some place You dont post!
Goodness, Looks like the race is on
Go McCain!!!
Puppy
-
Katie, I'm usually the one on the minority side of discussions and frankly I'm appalled that someone had the audacity to tell you not to post on this thread. That kind of clique mentality has no business here, IMHO. It's bad enough to say so in the thread but to PM you is just wrong and sneaky. I hope you'll forward the PM to the Mods.
I hope you'll stay because you're able to debate w/o offending, a rare quality that I admire.
-
I found this on tvguide.com :
Cross Recalls Conception, J.Lo Pimps Her Nurseries and More Baby Talk
Is Hillary going to boycott tvguide.com and cause a stir like she did when the MSNBC reporter used the term about her pimping out chelsea? It's a term that's been used in common language that means plugging something, not prostitution. I just thought it was interesting.
-
Since Katie and I have obviously had our differences, I'll want to go on record and say "It wasn't me.". I welcome opinions that are different than mine; how else do you learn and broaden your perspective? I have learned new things about each candidate from some of the posts of those who have different opinions than me.
Having said that, I do find that too many of the recent posts in this thread are combative; people are criticizing others for their position and taking pleasure in attacking & slandering their non-preferred candidates. It's gotten a bit ugly. So I too will bow out, for now anyway. I can hear the applause from a few of you. An intelligent discussion about the pros & cons of the positions that each of the candidates have taken on the issues would be interesting and educational but this has all become just a little too high school cliquish.
-
What the heck?
Katie, if someone told you to leave the board you should report them. That is just plain wrong.
Amy you are right on target- it is sneaky and appauling!
Beesie and Beth why are you leaving? are you being told to also??
Come on peeps. I think we can have a discussion about politics without running people out of here on a rail.
I would like to state that I admit I don't hide my feelings very well that I have about Mrs. Clinton. And if her supporters have been hurt by that, I apologize. I have tried to stick to the facts. I can't help it, I just don't like her and it really was made so much worse when she refused to help three women I know with BC who needed some higher up input and pressure. That kind of thing really burned me up.
But we can all post without being reprimanded, can't we?
Specail hugs to you Shirley! I hope you don't go anywhere either!
-
Amy says: (and I sort of said I wouldn't come back here...FORGIVE ME!..but can't keep my big trap shut!)
"I hope you'll stay because you're able to debate w/o offending, a rare quality that I admire."
Amy, since you admire Katie's quality, I think you should learn from her.

Amy's after me again..her quotes:
We've heard your story about interfering with your daughter's friend's choice and fortunately that worked out well. What makes you think that if she had gone for the abortion she wouldn't have been counseled on her choices and decided that without your interference. Believe it or not, when people go for abortions there's no one at the door cackling-- we've got another one-- lets hurry and terminate the pregnancy before she changes her mind.
How dare you use the word INTERFERE. I wasn't "interfering." I was doing what I thought was right for a CHILD. In your way of thinking I can see you cannot understand how I feel. I am proud to say I SAVED A CHILD FROM KILLING HER BABY! If my child were going to do the same thing, I sure hope someone would come to me. Amy, I KNEW her parents. I KNEW they would help her. Believe it or not, I AM NOT A NUT who would picket the abortion clinics. Have you EVER been in an abortion clinic or many abortion clinics. I haven't. How do you know they would give her good counseling. I have hear otherwise (probably not all clinics). However, I have not been to one personally so I won't state a fact that I don't know is true. You and I have already had this discussion about this abortion.
"Just what evidence do you have that terrorists would love Obama in office?"
Amy, I have no evidence. I'm just stating an "opinion." He says he wants to pull our troops out pronto. And that he wants to talk with terrorists. He wants to play nice. You CANNOT play nice with people who hate us as much as the radical Islamist do. They've been attacking us for years, and successfully, and getting by with it. Shall we just sit on our hands? I, for one, do not look at Obama's skin. Of course I know many do. But as you know he's gotten MUCH of the white vote. He's stealing votes from Hillary.
Have a nice day, Amy.

No one has the right to tell another person they cannot post here or on any other board OTHER THAN a Mod. If one doesn't want to read what one writes, ignore their posts.
Shirley
PS What in the heck am I doing here? Could it be that I'm a hard headed Polish woman!? Or that I'm nuts!?
-
Katie,
I find it very surprising that any woman here would make that kind of threat. What did she back it up with? I mean, are you really afraid of her? What could she possibly do to you? You certainly weren't afraid to post about her! BTW, who IS she? Not anybody I know for sure. I think we should all know about this. Do the moderators know about this?
BTW, are you just here to post political opinions? 36 posts ain't a lot for someone who's already so involved in so much drama!
Just curious

Miz
-
Miz, if you click on Katie's name you can read her profile.
Shirley
-
Thanx Shirley, I saw the profile, but there aren't too many comments that match up with it.
Miz
-
Miz, I assume when you checked her profile as I did, you found out that she had bc. Many of us do not write down our whole history of what type, size, ect. So, I would say the answer to your question is definitely yes, she has bc. I do not think anyone should be accused of not having this horrible disease who comes here for support. How many women are we going to run off if we accuse them of coming here under a false pretense. If I were being questioned whether or not I had bc I would be deeply hurt and angry.
I am not one who speaks out too often unless I'm truly offended or strongly disagree with someone else. Many times I have kept my mouth shut and left a thread that I couldn't bear to read because of whatever I didn't like about it.
I hate to say this, but there are cliques around here. That's to be expected in any community. And women seem to be the worse for that...isn't that ashame.
I've gone back and read Katie's posts and I do not see her posts attacking anyone. Why anyone would ask her not to post is beyond me. Perhaps that person should come out of hiding and explain to us why she PMd Katie. Just my thought.
Shirley
-
Shirley, I agree with you 100%, we need to identify who is making threats to whom..
-
first...hugggsss to all. second--I will slap myself silly tomorrow for posting this. (thought about some PM's but decided that was too contrary to the issue...I'll put it out for all to read) third...I am amazed at the direction this thread has taken. I remember one little rule I grew up with--don't ever discuss sex, religion, or politics. Well, the political discussion here has certainly deteriorated into a side circus of other issues totally unrelated, or maybe they are on the periphery, to the election and the candidates. I am not that wise to decide or understand.
I have enjoyed reading all the posts until recently. I don't care who posts what and doesn't say where the post came from. Everything is someone's opinion at this stage of the game...I can research more, if I'm interested in what was said, politically speaking.
Personally, don't know if I've posted this before because I'm not going to go back and read...the last election I was interested, AVIDLY interested, in was JFK. I campaigned with every breath in my body for that man. I stood on street corners and handed out pamphlets...my dad took me and parked alongside a highway that his calvacade was going to be on so I could wave at him...I was 12 years old and couldn't vote! Not one person since then has grabbed my attention as has Obama......
...as a woman, butting my head against that friggin' glass ceiling for 40 years (like to think I put a few cracks in it) I would love to see a woman in command of the world's greatest democracy and place to live...
...and finally, as a child of the "Hell NO--I won't GO" days, McCaine also grabs my attention. I wore a POW bracelet for years.
This guy's dad was my supervisor when I worked at an AFB as a civilian. I cried the night I sat in front of the tv and heard his name read as he crossed the tarmac...coming home....
I am so sorry this got to be so long-winded...
someone earlier posted that they didn't know which side I was on--I don't know, yet. My jury's still out. I do know that up until recently I thoroughly enjoyed this thread and hope it can return to normal thread talk.
last...more huggssss to all!
-
Junie, you said it very well! the thread has taken a turn and when we start talking about each other and (I'm so tired of hearing about Bush)not about the candidates, it really got boring and uptight.
-
Shirley- you could learn a lot from Tracy. You have no idea that you saved this girl from aborting her fetus. I know you like to tell yourself that, but you don't know what would have happened had she thought about it more and gone to a clinic. Terminating a pregnancy is not the same as killing a baby. Interfere- To intervene or intrude in the affairs of others; meddle. Yes, I have been to clinics who provide abortions as part of their services. I don't know of any clinics that just do abortions- they are women's clinics that provide a variety or services including abortions. I have been there with women who have gone through the abortion and those who have chosen not to, after being sure that they would. I doubt the source(s) you have that say otherwise.
I do not share your xenophobia and find the term radical islamics and islamic extremists offensive. Radicals and extremists of any ethnicity are the same and we don't need to single out islamics any more than we need to single out jews or christians.
-
Got a new promotion at work and havent been able to spend alot of time on the computer. This morning I had a little extra time so have read everything.
Im bored with the primaries now. Want to get to one candidate for each party and listen to what they have to say. I do like listening to the different views that are expressed here, but Im still not sure what direction Im going when it comes to the "real" elections.
I do think its sad, that a person would question another with regards to their breast cancer diagnosis. Not sure how that fits into the picture Miz. Actually I thought it to be hurtful.
Amy: Good morning. Havent talked to you in a while, but always love listening to your perspective. It gets me to stop and think about all sorts of issues.
Nicki
-
Mizzy, I don't think it was fair to call Katie out for where she chooses to post or question whether or not she has breast cancer. Shirley is right about not running people off. I don't believe anyone should have to prove she has or had breast cancer. I don't know Katie, even though we shared a respectful PM. I hate to see anyone treated the way she was by this person (and I do know who she is- someone who I would have never suspected if I had to guess). I agree about the cliques that you mention and it doesn't make for a welcoming place. It would be nice if the person who sent the PM to Katie to admit she did.
-
Amy, I realize that you didn't call me a radical Christian. However, somehow I felt a little hint. I am not radical. I do not go around Bible thumping. I am not judgemental of others believe it or not. I do not judge anyone who has had an abortion. My adult friend had one per her husband's request promising to stay with her if she did. We've never spoken about it to this day. Her husband left her anyway for another woman.
I have no sources that tell me that women who go to women's clinics were ever "pushed" into a decision. I only know what I have read and heard. And how do you know SOME of those clinics are not a bit more pushy? My daughter's used those clinics to get their exams and birth control pills when they were younger. The decision I made those many years ago was not an easy decision. Like I said, I kept asking myself what to do and I did what I thought was best. I do not consider that meddling. I would only hope that if my 15 yo daughter was planning an abortion that someone would notify me. Amy, abortions are quite safe. But, what if.....And what do you think I can learn from Tracy?....that I should persuade teenagers from getting an abortion. Do not understand that statement.
I think we've beaten this horse till he's almost dead. We differ in our opinions about that. Do you get what you are saying to ME. I haven't called you a person who believes in KILLING babies. You have called me a meddler.
Amy writes:
"I do not share your xenophobia and find the term radical islamics and islamic extremists offensive. Radicals and extremists of any ethnicity are the same and we don't need to single out islamics any more than we need to single out jews or christians."
How dare you call me xenophobic. I'm sorry you find those terms offensive, but they are true. And I think you are smart enough to know I'm talking about the suicide bombers, and the horrible, horrible people who send retarded women out to to homicide bombings (yes, I heard that term on tv and I agree with it). Wake up Amy. This is the real world AND there are people out there who want to kill us..our way of living...take away their freedom. I am not talking about ALL Muslims who are of the Islamic faith. I have no idea why you find that offensive when I speak the truth. Just who do you think caused 9/11 and other terrorists acts against us. Who do you think a few years ago were cutting off innocent individuals and video taping it? I find that offensive, sick, AND RADICAL!
Enough said, Amy. You need to watch what you say. You are "calling me out" and openingly criticizing what I believe. I thought we weren't supposed to do that.
Have a wonderful day, Amy.
Shirley
PS..I'm curious, Amy. Do you have a PhD in counseling? I'm not questioning your ability, just wondering....
-
Shirley, why would you ever think I was calling you a radical christian, I only said that radicals of any type are just as bad and that I'm offended why people categorize it as islamic. If you're aware of what's going on in the Sudan, what's gone on in china, between the jews and palestinians etc. you'll know that radical terrorists don't come in one size or shape. Just because there was one story about MR girls doesn't mean it isn't happening other places and hasn't happened before. I know you were talking about the terrorists, but look how up in arms you got when you assumed I was talking about you as a christian radical. I bet that's similar to how the peaceful, loving islamics feel when you use that term. From what I know of you, I would never think of you as radical let alone call you that, so I have no idea why you're personalizing this.
-
Iodine, I think you hit the nail on the head. Junie, I agree with you too...we were taught not to discuss religion, sex, or politics in "polite" society, but heck, this is an election year and there are some important issues to be discussed.
I think it is interesting to share views...and I think these things should be discussed..if we are to live in a democratic society. A breast cancer forum is actually a pretty wierd place for this kind of discussion, but since we're all here, why not?!
We need to separate the issues from the people...political opinions are not personal attacks. We need to have opinions if we're going to vote.
What I don't like is this idea that people are getting threatened for voicing their opinions...I'd like to know who is doing this and how...and I wish Katie would explain this to us because I find it a little hard to believe. This is not about a political opinion, but about women being threatened on the boards and whether it is "safe" to post here.
Well, I got in what I had to say about Obama, I hope women can continue to post here without feeling threatened, and without being personally attacked.
Miz
PS...I think this is an issue for the moderators and I am going to ask them to investigate this...
-
(and I do know who she is- someone who I would have never suspected if I had to guess).
I would hate to see anyone hurt by this statement. Maybe if this person is someone you never would have suspected, maybe her PM was totally misinterpreted.
I have totally stayed out of this thread, but enjoyed reading it until recently.
BUT I think we have to remember that on a message board (AND PM'S), we are only seeing typed words. We do not have the benefit of facial expressions tone of voice, immediate reaction/response/explanation of comments, etc.
It is very easy to misinterpret what is being "typed", and to "read more into it" than is actually being "said." Especially when it comes to war, pro-life/pro-abortion, gay rights, religion, etc., especially when one has extremely strong personal feelings about the subject matter because of their own life experiences.
No, I have not PM'ed anyone, but I can imagine the scenario of someone PMing someone regarding comments made in this thread, with the highest of intentions and best interests of our wonderful community, and stating lets all tone it down a little and make it less personal--and the someone receiving the PM taking that as being asked not to post on the thread.
I guess I always try to remember that there are real people on the other side reading these threads, with real feelings, whose realities may be quite different than mine, and whose opinions might be quite different than mine, but I try to be careful and never intentionally hurt anyone.
I think intent is the operative word. Hurt will happen when discussing politics or religion, but hopefully intentional hurt can be avoided.
Back to just reading here.
