I'm not a mushy v-day person.  But, my mom really made it special for the four of us, after my dad left.  She always gave us a little goody bag with treats for V-day, and it's a memory I will always treasure.

Today, I made a bag, and I am going to surprise her at work and give it to her...

    Anyone doing anything special tonight?

I am not doing anything special but my daughter, had love notes all over the house for Bill and I and...

... my bus driver, Ava, gave me a box of Sweethearts!  That put such a big smile on my face!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy V.D. (LOL)... don't forget to see my "card" under the Humor thread.

    Luv,

I might cook DH his favorite meal - he's been doing all the cooking for quite some time so he'd be surprised!

Making cookies with my daughters.  Cleaning up the messy kitchen when they are done.

Maybe having a glass of wine with DH along with some brie and apple slices-after the girls are in bed.

    Happy Valentine's!!!

Beth, I am not a mush mush person either, but I think you story about your mother making you a little bag and you making her one today is special - very nice.

I bought my husband a card with a yellow lab on the front and tonight we will be feasting on Mexican cuisine and drinking Coronas.

HAPPY V-DAY TO ALL YOU LOVELY LADIES/MEN!!!!

I also have very good memories of V-day from childhood.....my grandmother lived on the other side of the state from us so we only got to see here a few times a year but that woman NEVER forgot even the smallest of holidays.....we received cards and notes all throughout the year, she always said they were "just because" but every holiday each of us (5 kids in my family and plus all our cousins too) would recieve our special package from her....she always mailed them seperate so that each of us got our own mail....over the years she could have saved hundreds of dollars on postage if she just put them all together but she thought it was special for us to each receive our own mail.....

Even once we all became adults she did this!!! It was so special to receive that special little something from her both as a child and as an adult and I have carried the traditionl on with my grand kids....all but two of them live within 20 miles of me but I still drop things in the mail for them....they love it just as much as I did....

So my V-day evening will be spent on the phone with each of the grandkids as the call to tell me about their surprise gifts Laughing...

    Hugs

    Jule

i'm not a v-day person either, beth...yesterday someone at work asked me what we'd be doing for valentine's day and i responded i'm pretty much "over" all holidays.  i got booed and was told they were collectively putting me on effexor.  so this morning i bought a BIG bag of valentine's M&Ms for the office and i wore a red sweater  to keep from being committed by my coworkers.

I walked into her office and she looked up, and said,

    Whats wrong?

Obviously, shocked that I would be there for something other then an emergency.

I handed her the big bag with hearts, and a few goodies.

With my good deed done, I was feeling rather "giving"... so I roll through the starbucks drive through, and the woman in the minivan behind me is rubbing her forehead-- just looks like she's having a "day"  so I paid for her coffee, and told the girl at the window to tell her happy V-day.  (my sister often goes to the same starbucks, and whenever we see eachother in the drive thru who ever is in front pays...)  I pull out of the drive thru, and my sister calls me-- she was behind the lady in the minivan. Too funny.

I sent v-day wishes to my son in the Persian Gulf via e-mail. I don't know if he got my v-day card and care box yet, I mailed it 2 weeks ago. I also sent a txt msg to my hubby who started out in IL this morning and heading to TN, he should be home tomorrow or Sat.

Beth, I like the idea of single act of kindness. It was done here at the 'blue moose coffee lodge' which is like starbucks only locally owned, they said that the single act of kindness ended up going for 30 minutes, paying for the car behind.

No plans. No gifts for the kids. They get enough crap. I got a little box of chocolates for their teachers (since they spend extra time with the boys) and one for my mother.

I got a card for DH, not a big deal for me either.

Beth, WTG on paying if forward!

AW Beth your mom is so sweet and cute- I bet she loved what you did!

I am not really big into forced holidays! Like when people say it is such and such a day you have to ... buy a card, present or whatnot for someone because it is on a particular day. I like to surprise people on unofficial days!

That said, GSG, i would be hanging out at your desk today ... next to the M&Ms!

Thank you for your wish, Beth, and so glad your Mom has you.

Lots of hugs to my kids and DH, and just peace is all we need.

I am thinking of LuAnnH's son while writing this: a valentine to her and him, that they stay strong and safe.

awwww celia that is tooooo cute.

I'm really into this new book, smart women finish rich.  The other day on Oprah, when she said you could download suze ormans book, of course I tried to get through a million times, and then figured I'd do it the next day- cause you had till 5pm. I got so caught up at work, that I forgot about it.

Matt came home, and not only did he print out the 300 page book, but he had it bound at kinkos and wrapped it up.

I can't believe that inbetween his crazy day, and all his meetings, that he found time to get it all done.

It was a pretty cool surprise.

Well, my friends tell me that dh and I have known each other too long.  We gave each other the same funny V card.  We just laughed and laughed.  Laughing

I don't do valentines, my dh does. Innocent  It's our tradition.  This year he just sent the girls a card and the grandbabies a card and five one dollar bills.  I told him NOT to send candy to the grandbabies.  Yep, they have plenty.  He got me a sweet card, a teddy bear from Hallmark and some chocolates which we shared.  It's nice not to have to worry about ONE special day.

will just add a bit here--Valentine's Day is also our anniversary.

I woke up and dragged into the kitchen to find a beautiful bouquet of roses and a wonderful card waiting for me.  (grrrrr, all I did was send him a cute little e-mail card!)   But, best of all was the little package by the flowers that had a CHOCOLATE COVERED DONUT!

Celia--I had to laugh, because I looked at DH and said--ok--you can stay for another year!!!
