Chest pain anyone?

I'm just writing to see if anyone else has had severe chest pain with their mets? My sis has such severe pain, but the pain is a "squeezing type pain. She said it feels as though there is a vise around her chest, and it is squeezing tighter every day. We are afraid it might be something else as I have never heard of anyone with cancer having this type of pain. I figured this might be the best place to ask. I'm going to post this on a couple more forums. It's so painful and it just kills me to see her in so much pain that cannot be helped with any amount of pain medicine (she is even seeing a pain doctor and is on all kinds of strong narcotics like Fentynal patches and suckers, oxycodone drops and pills).

    Thank you so much,

Mitzi, 3 year survivor of triple Neg, BRCA 1 breast cancer, AND sister/best friend of Julie, who is fighting the fight of her life right now.

    How's your sister doing, Mitzi?

Can't find the other thread right now, where people had suggestions for check-ups...

But I just wanted to know how both you and Julie are doing.

Hi Ann, I am fine. My sis went back to Wisconsin and is seeing her oncologist today. Her husband put her on an anti-fungal drug (he is a doctor and is FINALLY stepping up to the plate to help since she was here and I was doing it all!). Although I don't know if that is good or bad. What happened was that we noticed that her chest pain subsided a little bit when she upped her dose of Diflucan (anti-fungal), and when she ran out, she went back into very severe pain. We tried to get her a stronger drug called "Itraconazole", but the insurance companies would not approve it, and if we paid cash and she had any complications from it, they would not cover it (or so my brother-in-law tells me). He also told me that since she will be taking the Itraconazole, she won't be able to get into any clinical trial.

In other words, they are focusing more on the histoplasmosis than the cancer, and the other doctors are focusing more on the cancer than the histoplasmosis.

Why can't we find two doctors who will work together with both things at once??? I had one doctor who told me that you can't have two things wrong with you at the same time. Do they all think like that???ARRGGHHH!!!!

But I'm Ok.....just a little frustrated. I have an appointment to have my ovaries removed at the end of the month. Still have to take care of that since I'm BRCA1.

Hope you are doing OK as well. Take care of yourself and thank you for asking about us.
