Hi Wetcoast!  I'm pretty much computer illiterate so bear with me! :)  I went into profile and updated so hopefully my info will show at the bottom of this.  I have a sister living in Prince George and hope to visit her when my treatments are finished. Love it in BC and so this trip is to be my reward for the last few months of "feeling less than great"!  I hear you re: the waiting....patience is NOT one of my virtues.  :)

Hi Snowyday!   Your name is very appropriate for today...forecasting 20 cm of snow for today!

I was diagnosed in Sept/07 after my annual mammo.  I had a lumpectomy in Oct. and started chemo in November.  I've had 3 treatments every three weeks for FEC and go for my second of three sessions (3 weeks apart) of "D" Feb. 6th.  We used to live in Cambridge so when we moved I kept my FD there because there's such a shortage of doctors in this area.  Sooo, my chemo has been at the Cambridge hospital...45 min. away.

If I have radiation it will be at Grand River Hospital.  I say "if" because I met my radiologist this past Monday to go over treatment.  I'm cursed with nicodine addiction and he said I need to stop smoking for radiation.  That threw me into a panic because I've tried everything out there except acupuncture to quit smoking and haven't been successful.  I feel I'm barely keeping my head above water with the chemo...have neuropathy from the taxatere plus fatique....and to add nocodine withdrawal at this time just doesn't seem possible.  Did some research and there's a new report (1-22-08) on the Journal of Clinical Oncology saying women who smoked but didn't have radiation were nearly 6 times as likely to be diagnosed with lung cancer than non-smokers, while women who smoked and did undergo radiation were nearly 19 times more likely to be diagnosed with lung cancer.  After having smoked for forty odd years, I know I'm a walking time bomb for lung cancer but why increase the risk when the risk for mets with Triple Negative is already there?

I'm going to ask the radioligist if no radiation and mastectomy might be an option at this time.

Anyone else in this "damned if I do, damned if I don't" situation?

Nice to meet you Cookie, I'm also triple negative and it's scary, I'm finished treatment now and dealing with side effects from Chemo and Rads but happy that overwith for now.  Check out the Triple Negative Section in Community Exchange and Knowledge it's amazing what you will learn from the women on that section and all the best. pearl49

    Hi Babsb,

I am about 7 and a 1/2 hours away from PG. Definitely a cooler climate that what we are used to here in Vernon. Although you wouldn't know that by the weather we have had in the last week. Let me know when you plan to come out and maybe we can figure something out. You never know//

I finally got my game plan and will be joining the feb chemo girls every two weeks for 4 cycles of ac then every two for 4 more of taxol then 3 weeks off and then radiation. How much  I am not sure. I really liked my oncologist and he already had consulted for a second opinion so feb 12 is the day. Time to kick it in the butt......

Hey Lynda, nice to have a nieghbour, welcome. I'm in Port Perry,Just a hop skip and jump away. Geez.....that's sad to hear....another women with BC. Lots of survivors on these boards so if you need to just chill out with them, they are here and very supportive. Hope your co-worker is getting the support she needs to. I'm lucky that my co-workers let me blab on about it once in a while, none of them have been through it so I hope it doesn't freak them out! I have no group here in town to go to so being here lets me talk and ask stuff. Keep in touch Lynda......Viv

Another Ontario girl here. Born and raised in Sudbury. Been in Welland On since I was 16 though. Not a bad thing being a stones throw from Niagara falls except during tourist season.

    Hey Viv

I'm not too far from you in Ajax.  Port Perry is where my hubby & I go for icecream and a walk on the beach in the summer.  When the kids were little it's where we took them to watch the regattas.  I almost bought a house there so it's easy to say it's one of my favourite places.

Hi Debbie, yup you are close! How are you? It's been great meeting other women here that live in Ontario especially ones who are close! There are many canadians also on the canadian thread.......trying to join people together so we can all meet and greet and who knows? Maybe make a new friend. I am excited to meet you and the rest here, it makes me seem so not alone. I love Port Perry too, grew up in Oshawa (the "Shwa") as the younger crowd says...LOL. HMM Maybe we'll have to have a Port Perry walk in the park day with a stop at the famous icecream shop for anyone interested when the weather gets nice??? A thought........keep visiting Port.....Viv

The SHWA - makes me smile.  I lived in Pickering for 10 years and have been in Ottawa for the past 2 years. I went to high school here.  I really need to give up the whole "Ottawagirl" thing.  I 'm a bit past the girl phase.  I guess because I lived here when I was a "girl" it's still in my brain.

Love Port Perry.  The principal at my kids school in Pickering moved to be a principal in Port Perry - Mr. Ketrick (sp).  Nice man.
