First chemo today

Had my first chemo today. It was not as bad as I expected. I was ok until they walked me in to my chair (not literally). I started to feel panicky and I thought to myself... I can't do this!

I did it!!! Round one is over. 1 down three to go. I had taxotere/cytoxan. They didn't give me any prescriptions for nausea meds or anything. They gave me some in my infusion. I came home with nothing. Is this unusual? I asked the nurse and she said if I had a problem call. Someone is there 24 hours. So right now I feel good. Feel like a sitting duck though. Just waiting for the first sign or symptom. I have never drank so much water in my life. I am on my 8th pint of water now. I think I just want to flush it out so I have no side effects...yea right! Hopefully they won't be as bad. Thanks for listening to my venting.

    Good for you, one down.

I did have some meds to take post chemo...perhaps you were given drugs that are long acting. Do call if you have trouble.

Chemo will be done before you know it. You CAN do this,

Kathleen, glad to hear that your feeling okay after your first txt.  Although you may breeze by with minimal to no se's i think i would request a scrip for something for nausea to atleast have on hand.  Kinda like carrying an umbrella, never know if you might need it.

    Take care, Carol

Yay, Kathleen! Glad to hear round 1 is over.

I had adriamycin with my chemo, so I automatically was given prescriptions for all sorts of nausea meds. I don't know how much nausea goes along with the TC. If nothing else, see if the chemo nurses have some samples of Zofran or Kytril on hand that you can have in case you need something.

Kathleen - You did it! Good job...before you know it, spring will be here and you'll be done with treatment. Best wishes to you. I hope you sail through this...
