    Hi-

My dad doesn't have breast cancer, but he was just diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer last week. By the time they found it, the mass was hugh and had already spread to his lungs.

He's having a bone and brain scan next week, and will have surgery following the scans to removed the cancerous kidney. Surgery for him will be really risky, since he's been fighting dangerously low blood pressure for the last 6 months, and is homozygous for Factor V Leiden, making his risk of developing a blood clot with surgery 120 times more likely than the average surgery patient.

From everything I've read, kidney cancer is not easily treatable. Unlike my breast cancer that has such a good response to treatment, kidney cancer doesn't respond to chemo, and has much fewer options. Even with treatment, survival seems to be measured in months.

Please pray for my dad. I can't lose him!  I still can't believe this has happened. He had no symptoms except for being tired. Please send prayers that his additional scans are clear, that he makes it through surgery okay, and that he responds to treatment......

I can't believe how much harder this is for me to deal with than my own diagnosis.......

    Thanks-

    Theresa

I am so very sorry Theresa.  I will add him to my prayers as will many others.  Medical advances and miracles happen every day...I will pray that he gets them.

    Calming prayers for you too.

    Hugs

    Vickie
