Stick on Prosthetics

Anyone try these and do they actually stay on??? How are they held on?. It would be nice to go strapless and still look good. I have one breast and allmost think it would be easier with none.

Hi Sierra,
I use the stick on kind and I love it. I did not think I would like it but my fitter convinced me to try it and she was right. I have always been sensitive to adhesive but whatever is on the back of these forms does not bother me at all. Anyway, on the back of the form there are little dots that look like bubbles. They are the adhesive. Yes, they stay on. My favorite part about the form is that it feels like it moves with me. I have gone strapless once but it was while wearing a cami with a shelf bra. I don't think the form is made to go strapless without some kind of support, although I don't think it would fall off. I did buy some bandeau type bras (strapless) that will work with the form-I just have not had a chance to use them since it is winter.
The one I have is made by Amoena. I am pretty small 34A/B and in all my other forms I have the size 2. However, for the contact form I ended up getting a size 3. The 3 in the contact just seemed like it matched my non-mast. side better. I also had a single mast so I understand what you mean.

I use the same type of contact form, the Amoena Tria Contact Light. I also really love it. Takes a bit of getting used to in terms of the direct contact with your skin but, as Carol said, it moves with your body and a lot of the weight is taken off of your shoulders and is where you would feel the weight of a real breast. Also as Carol said, the form is not designed to be worn without a bra. You could wear it with a strapless bra.
There is another kind of contact form that can be worn without a bra. I believe you attached some tape to your skin and then the tape attaches to the form. Probably not something you'd want to wear every day but it would be great for those times when you have an evening dress or something and can't wear a bra. I've been wanting to try it on.
I just got back from Truckee yesterday! We live in SF but have a house in Tahoe Donner. Unbelievable amount of snow! Beautiful!

so, you can at least wear a bra that doesnt have thick straps. I am small breasted also and I think I would like to try one of these.
Susan , we got a lot more snow last night and today. Do you ski??
-
The great thing about the contact forms is that you can wear them in pretty much any non-mast bra. The really skimpy ones don't work so well but any regular coverage bras work fine. It's nice to be able to shop in a regular lingerie section.
I do ski. Badly, but I enjoy it. I also just really love the natural beauty of Tahoe. You are a lucky woman!

I do love mine - but...I don't like taking it off at night - I've had radiation to the chest wall - and it's like taking off a bandage. I've tried some cream - but then it doesn't adhear well enough. Any suggestions?
My mastectomy bras are great - nothing ugly about them - they look like Victoria's Secret

I also had rads and I felt the bandaid feeling the first few times but now it does not bother me at all. I do take it off slowly and sort of just peel it off-I hope that makes sense. Maybe someone else will have some suggestions.
Same for me regarding the mast. bras. Mine are cute and pretty. But, I think I have tried on and/or ordered every mast. bra ever made. Ok, not really but sometimes it feels that way.

Hi Carol,
I went to Nordstrom today. The sales lady showed me one prosthesis that look very soft and have a cloth part stick to the center that can take out to wash, she said it is about $325 or something. I don't think it can stick on. So I guess it is not what you are talking about, right?
-
Bettty,
No, it sounds different than mine. Mine is the Amoena Contact 653. Did the sales person say it was a contact form?
-
I have a contact form (Amoena), and while I like it in the winter, it really isn't comfortable in the warmer weather or when I exercise. Also, I am rather concave on my mast side and not enough of the form sticks to my chest. The stickiness diminishes after a while, and I end up using wardrobe tape to help the form stick to my chest. More trouble than it's worth most of the time, but nice for special times when I want to wear a regular bra.
