Where does all the money go?

I was reading an issue of Cure at my mom's urologist office today and I was reading a short article about Texas committing something like 10 billion dollars to cancer research over the next decade.  Lance Armstrong was instrumental in getting the legislation passed.

As an aside, the article mentioned that funds for cancer research have been declining.  Now I can't recall if it said federal funds specifically, or funds in general.  When I read statements like that, it makes me wonder what happens to all the money raised by nonprofits for research?  Does it go into a black hole?  Is it being spent wisely?  How would anyone know?  Or is the money raised by nonprofits just small potatoes compared to the federal budget?

This is a question I would like an answer to . It is just so unbelievable that monster sums of money are getting NOWHERE ??

All monies given for research should be publicly accounted for at the end of every year, then we would all know where the cash was vanishing to.

I will never give to cancer research, cancer charities, boxes shaken under my nose.

I WILL give to hospices and Macmillan nurses ( we have these nurses over here that concentrate only on helping cancer patients) At least this way I hope my cash will get straight to where its needed, and NOT torturing animals.

BC gets the most $$ for research. That is why we have the latest and greatest drugs and trials. Don't under estimate the power of pink and the all the fund raising. We will be the first to find a cure.

    Just my thoughts.

Only around 5% of funds raised go towards prevention.  The rest is sucked up by Cancer Incorporated, or "PINK INC." the biggest money making machine in the twentieth and twenty first centuries.

Make up companies that sponsor 'think pink' still include carcinogenic ingredients in the make up they sell under the pink label.

Every personal product you use for hygiene, beauty and cleanliness, will most likely contain carcinogenic ingredients.

The pharmaceutical companies have made no real strides in cancer research in the past 30 years.  The biggest strides have occurred in teh past ten years, as they developed the medication to control nausea.

Pharmaceutical companies are stinking rich from cancer research dollars, and you can be there won't be a cure as long as profit is involved.
