Oh, Imma...I'm nowhere near you, but I feel your pain from a distance. Take a deep breath...you're facing a lot, but judging by the women on this board, you'll get through surgery and treatment, and have years and years to support your son. Do you have family to help while you recover from surgery? Try to think positive thoughts...I know it's hard at this point.
I'm a special ed teacher...can only imagine the pain you're going through. Those little nonverbal ones are a challenge, no doubt about it. How old is your son? Sending prayers and good karma your way that things work out for you in the short term. Get through this crisis...try not to borrow trouble from the future. Things have a way of working out.
Thinking of you...please let us know how things go.

Hi, Imma
RELAX...RELATE...RELEASE...
I and everyone on this site know what you are feeling right now. But believe us you are not alone no matter what part of the world you are in. Be strong and look to your higher power to see you through this. Lift up my eyes to the hills from which cometh my help, my help comes from the Lord. And by his stripes I am healed. I confess this every day. I have my good days and bad ones but the good way far out ways the bad. I have three more chemo treatments to go and I believe in my heart the best is yet to come for me. Pray and ask God for strenght. And draw strength from the people on this site. Finding this site has really helped me through. The women in the chat rooms are my sisters and I have never seen their faces. Come back everyday it's medicine. I wish you all the best and I will be praying for you.
Your sister/friend

Imma, I live just north of Lincolnton in Caldwell County. I know that there are a couple of support groups in Catawba County, one at Frye Regional and one at Catawba Memorial hospital. Call the hospital where your surgery will be performed and ask for the oncology nurse. she should be able to get you connected with a local group. I will ask the oncology nurse here (Caldwell Memorial) to see if she knows of a group in Lincolnton.
