Oh Shirely, no one suggested I go more either :-) Maybe they already know what we would say! :-) Ya think? I think we're just at a burnt out stage. For myself, I just need time to re-group mentally. Its all to much at times, and that really is the bottom line for me. I'm not suggesting that anyone else not see their doctors. I totally understand both sides of the fence on this one. But I have hit a bottom and just wanted to see if I was alone out there on this, but I see I am not. Now Shirely...get in there and get checked out!! :-)
mke - I see your point on this as well. And I'm sure if I got hit again with it my thoughts would probably change. I think it also has something to do with the stage of our treatment. And of course, the big one, our mental state. I had a scare last year, which thankfully turned out OK, but while I was waiting I was already thinking of my plan of action if it turned out to be bad. So..I was at a different point in my mind. I guess I feel like maybe I am OK for now, and I just don't have the energy, or the money to go thru more testing. I wish you the best of luck thru this. I'm so sorry you have to go thru it again. :-(

Little-G...LOL Yes, dear, I do see my med onc every six months. I go next month. I don't have to see the other doctors (rad onc, plastic surgeon) because it is not required of me. I didn't mean I never get checked....LOL I haven't cancelled on any of my oncology visits YET...LOL
And, mke, I too want to tell you how sorry I am that you are going through this AGAIN! I've thought how would I feel knowing I would have to do chemo and all the second time. I try to wipe that thought right out of my mind. It's almost sickening. And I glad your and your surgeon are being nice to each other.
Hugs

Yikes, mammogram after bilateral mast.??? I was thinking no more mammos was the silver lining to this cloud.
Thanks for your understanding responses. I was afraid I seemed a bit too officious. I surely do sympathize with being irked with appt after appt, being prodded and poked again and again. As little G said, it all depends where you are in the process.
Certainly at times there must be room for a breather from this.

shirley: i see my dentist as well. i wonder if i could get him to examine my breasts and eliminate a trip to the breast surgeon.
-
I also never went back to the rad onc. He was a nice guy & all, but it didn't make sense to me to see him a year out. It's now been almost two years since the rads. I also don't have a med once because I didn't do chemo nor hormone therapy. My PCP kept saying I should see the surgeon, but hasn't come up with a valid reason why, so, I haven't seen her either.

Good.
I'm sure he would be delighted to check your breast.

Here's maybe a dumb question, but do they only request that you see your breast surgeon if you've had a mastecomy? I had a lumpectomy and I seen my breast surgeon once after it to look at the scare, and thats it. They never said come back.

Hi g,
I was the same as you - I saw the surgeon once after the second excision and that was it. It didn't make sense to me to see her again, but my PCP wanted me to go back to her. I didn't because he couldn't come up with a logical reason why.

I had a mast and no one has suggested that I see my surgeon. My surgery was in 2005.
