Jane, my heart goes out to you.  My friend had several years battle with multiple surgeries and chemos for different mets.

My greates memory is just sitting chatting about her hair comming out, and all the other things she felt comfortable talking with me about.

the night before she died, I was able to give her a bed bath, she knew I was there, I was the first she would allow to give her mouth care.  Her husband was suprised that i remembered to moisturize her face after washing it.  I cleaned her from top to bottom (i'm a nurse) and when the hospice nurse came to prepare her after death, noted that she had nothing to do.  Her husband told me that.

Ok, that wasn't a joke.  But I was able to write it without crying and it's taken me 6 years to get to this point.

Dh and I lost another great friend, actually 2, but one wasn't cancer.

It is very hard, and I know where you're comming from

We are given very few really good friends in life, and it hurts like hell to loose one.
