Anybody used proto-cell?

My mom-in-law was talking about this alternative treatment, and was wondering if anybody has heard of it or used it?
-
I found some site that talk about Procel alternative treatment.
http://alternativecancer.us/protocel.htm
this site promotes Procel, has some very interesting info--needs to be taken every 4 hours, many supplements and Vits cannot be taken with it (especially Vit C, noted to be the biggest cause of Procel failure) and references to research, but I can't get to the original studies to read them myself.
http://www.cancer.gov/cancerinfo/pdq/cam/cancell
this is the FDA site on Procel, says that ingredients have been tested and are not helpful, and notes that it is illegal to ship Procel across state lines. I have noted that the FDA site states that all alternative treatments are not known to be effective (fancy way of saying they don't work).
Based on what I'm seeing on their website, this is not a treatment that I would consider. Too many supplements/vitamins/foods that when taken with Procel cause "failure," which makes me suspicious that it does not work very often and the blame is placed on the consumer.
That, however, is only my opinion. I hope someone on the board has direct experience with it and can give us more information.

Dont know about this particularly, but dont expect the FDA to endorse ANYTHING they dont get a kickback for....
-
"this is the FDA site on Procel, says that ingredients have been tested and are not helpful"
Actually, the cancer.gov site does not say that. On the summary page referenced, it says, "None of the common chemicals in these products is known to be effective in treating any type of cancer." What NCI knows (or is willing to find out) does not impact what is actually true.
On the details of their report (not just the summary), they actually state the following:
"Thus, under these highly idealized conditions Cancell/Cantron/ Protocel may exhibit some mild inhibitory effect on the growth of some cancer cells, but it would not be expected to inhibit their growth completely or to kill them."
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/cam/cancell/HealthProfessional/page9
If the worse that can be said by a site whose purpose is to discredit alternative treaaments is that Protocel does in fact, "exhibit some mild inhibitory effect on the growth of some cancer cells" then that to me speaks volumes. The worse that NCI can say about Protocel is that it may be effective in inhibiting the growth of some cancer cells. If it was "mildly" effective in the short days of their test, imagine what the results could have been had they continued testing?
The most revealing evidence against NCI in this is that they have refused to do any further testing. Does that really make sense? If their initial experiements show that Protocel is effective (even midlly), wouldn't that warrant additional testing in humans to prove conclusively whether it inhibits the growth completely or kills cancer cells in humans? Instead all we are left with is their opinion that it would not be "expected" to be effective??? On the other hand, there are literally thousands of individuals who indicate they have been healed of cancer using Protocel.
Wouldn't an altruistic organization dedicated to providing truthful, accurate, and comprehensive information on cancer treatments in order to save lives have an obligation to follow-up on treatments that are proven (by their own admission) to inhibit cancer cell growth? More importantly, why would such an organization choose NOT to conduct such tests?
I don't mean to rant, but the more I look into this whole set-up, the sicker I get to my stomach.
I will be starting Protocel next week and you can rest assured that I will post back here with updates. I don't have the luxury of getting fat checks from the pharma companies for ensuring that chemo and radiation remain the only promoted options for cancer treatment. I don't have the luxury of political expediency forcing me to tow the line. I only have the luxury of trying to save my life and attempting to find the truth about what is really working for treating cancer.

Mia,
I'm impressed with how much you are learning and how fast. I know you are pretty new at this but learning fast. You go girl.

Thanks Flalady!
Coming from you, that means a lot.
I saw a supercool quote today that I thought was so true, "Simply because something is unproven does not mean that it has been disproven." I think this is important to remember.
I really don't fault the pharama companies. My husband has his own busines and I know that he makes careful consideration of how to make the business grow and to increase revenues. Although he gets a lot of moral satisfaction in helping those he can, it is not a non-profit organization; he must make money to keep the busines going.
What bothers me is the lack of an "objective" voice in this dance. Or worse, the fact that the government purports to be that objective voice when they are actually not. In actuality, they are protecting the pockets of big business.
As long as the ones determining what is "approved" are simultaneously in profiting from the ones in charge of authorizing/ conducting the research, and then all impartiality is thrown out of the window. It is a very real conflict of interest.
Have a blessed day,
Mia

Mia-
I am looking forward to your updates. We do so badly need an objective voice in cancer treatment research. Your quote is too correct: Unproven does not equal disproven.

IAmthankful, when you say:

- I thought I was the only one to be asking myself this question. I am sooooo happy to see that there are others wondering....Thank you.

Hello Everyone,
I had promised to provide an update and am happy to do so now.
As a recap, I have been on Protocel for about 2 months. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December of 2007 and have a lumpectomy in January. In preparation for chemo and rads, they found additional tumors on my ovaries and wanted to do a complete hysterectomy due to elevated CA-125 levels. I declined the chemo, rads, and additional surgery; not because I distrust traditional medicine, but simply because the Lord told me not to do it.
Anyway, God led me to Protocel and I began taking that at the end of February. I had cancer markers taken last week (CA-125 for ovarian cancer and CA-27.29 for breast).
Both have come back as normal!! Although my oncologist expected my markers to increase (since I declined chemo and rad), they not only declined, but have gone down to the normal range. Needless to say, I am very happy with the results so far.
I plan to stay on Protocel for at least the next 3 months to ensure that adequately address any remaining cancer cells in my body. My onc has also ordered a PET scan and ultrasound next week to see what has happened to the ovarian tumors. Due to the fact that my CA-125 markers have decreased so much, I am expecting that the tumors have either been eliminated or are at least greatly reduced (as Protocel is known to do).
I will report back on the scans once those results are in as well.
Overall, Protocel has been wonderful. It is easy to use, affordable, and has not impacted my quality of life. I cannot say that these results should be what others expect. I actually was not expecting to see a positive impact until about 3 months in. Some individuals may see results sooner or later than I did, but the bottom line is that it has worked tremendously well for me so far.
If anyone wants specifics about my experience with Protocel, please feel free to send me a PM.
Thanks & all the best to you all!

IMTHANKFULL!!!! ,
Wonderful news! You are in my heart and prayers. I hope to have my scans in a few weeks. And hope to celebrate with you.
God is GOOD!

I received the results from my PET scan and ultrasound.
Although the cancer tumor markers for ovarian and breast cancer came back normal last month, the PET scan continued to show elevated activity on my ovaries and breast. It was recommended that I have an ultrasound of my breast and ovaries to see what might be going on.
The ultrasound of my ovaries shows that the previous tumors are now gone! In February 2008, I had one particular tumor the size of an orange and they wanted to do a complete hysterectomy. Now, the tumors are all gone. My doctor is amazed! I will be having the ultrasound of the breast soon.
I am confident that the activity picked up in the PET scan is the Protocel working and the blood work as well as untrasounds seem to support this.
I intend to continue on Protocel for the next few months and will report back updates as they occur.
God Bless!

IMThankful,
I'm happy to hear of your success so far. I am a 6 Year suvivor with Dx of triple negative breast cancer Aug. 2003. Returned again in 2007 in neck lymph nodes draining into the first node in the sternum. Did several chemos, Only to see it advance to lungs and rt lower femur bone in Jan. this year, Now stage IV. Trial study and Ca. still continued. A friend told me about protocel in 2007 but I was skeptical thinking how could something nutritional kill this thing when all this poison couldn't. Tried one more chemo in April (Ixempra) specific for triple neg breast Ca. Finally one to do something. Half or more af areas show no uptake on the June 24th Pet Scan, so I decided to continue with 4 more treatments. But also started on Protocel since then. Wanted to wait to see if the Ixempra did anything before starting Protocel, to know what was working. Will have a scan again in Sept. to see how I am doing. If there is no uptake this time I'm going off the Chemo and stay on Protocel indefinitely till the Ca. comes back or scans shows no further Ca. My friends sister had her colon cancer resolve and not come back now since 2007. She is now promoter of the power of God to aid his people when they call on HIM.
Blessed
