Hey girl,
Good news! A bilateral mastectomy is not near as bad as you would think. I mean, don't get me wrong, it sucks but.....it does not involve the "pain" you would think.
I do not mean this to be sarcastic in anyway. I am serious. I was not so scared before my double-mast in 3/07 because my sister had a mastectomy 9 years ago and she came through it just fine.....I was scared though but, it (physically) was really just "tightness and stiffness" no "pain". It still amazes me to this day.
Here is my advice to you....come to this site for advice on reconstruction if you choose to do that. If I knew what I know now, I would have done that differently.
Oh yea, and ask your surgeon to make as small as scars as possible. I've seen girls who had surgery the same time I did and my scars are 3 inches longer than theirs!
Feel free to PM (private message) me anytime. Or really .... you can pm anybody on this site. Everybody is here for support and to support.
Hugs girl.....the surgery is really not awful.
Sincerely,
Traci

Greetings,
Believe it or not physical part of surgery maybe your easiest part of treatment. I had my 2nd mast. on Friday at 4:00 and was up and dressed when the doctor came in at 10:00 Saturday ready to go home. I put on a sweat shirt (over all the lovely bulbs)and went to dinner the same night.
I wish I could have seen another person's chest wall before surgery to get a ideal what I would look like. It was not as bad as I thought. Boy...did my prospective changed when I hear those ugly words!
Living in hope,
Flalady

Immalovin bless your heart, I'm sure this has all been quite a blow to you, give yourself time to process and research to learn about your particular situation.
There is a great Triple Neg Breast Cancer Foundation that just started up last year and there is alot of good information on their board and good support like this board. It may help you to get online for help and discussion with others, this is a great place.
