    Hi Crazydaisy: I'm from London Ontario, and we are having a really crappy snow day today, I have to change me snowyday name it's sort of stupid and just go back to pearl. I switched it when I found out our posts can be googled and I got paranoid, got over it fast, need this site for my sanity and the women are really great. I just read a post about some problems between women, was surprised by that hope it clears up soon. It's nice to have a place to write to other women facing bc so your in Port Perry, I've heard of it but (chemo brain) can't remember where it is, is it close to London. I lived up in Red Lake for 26years raised my children there and was the tax collector there for years and I really miss the water and fresh air. Write back and tell me where Port Perry is and anything else, I'm in a lazy babbling mood today. Pearl49

    Hi Pearl, it's snowing here too, was surprised by it when I woke up. My hubby has relatives in the London area, Ingersol to be exact. Port Perry is about 1 hour north east of Toronto, on Lake Scugog. Nice small town and freindy people. I grew up in Oshawa, hubby in T.O. I have 1 daughter who goes to Brock University. Hey, I love the water too. We bought a dumpy old cottage up north a couple years ago.........can't wait till winter is over to get back there. Have you met any other good old ontarions?

    Hi Sierra. Metro huh. Not to far away. So you used to come to the Port Perry Fairs??? LOL They're still running! If you ever want to spend a day in Port, let me know........real tourist town in the summer. Message me sometime.

    I hail from Sudbury (a little more north).  I have been down your way when going to Kingston.  Very nice and will likely be passing thru again this summer on motorcycles.  When is this fair and what type of fair is it?

    Hi Viv:  Your town sounds beautiful, when I moved south I moved hear because my sons were worried about me. I had lost my fiance' in a house fire and then my best friend to kidney cancer three years later. So they talked me into moving to London. But I often think I would have been happier in a smaller town on water.  One day I will either go back to Red Lake or find something around Peterbourough as there is lots of lakes and it looks sort of like the Red Lake area. I just miss the fishing, berry picking, and I love small towns I make more friends and just like the safer feelings I get in small towns. But as far as London it was a lucky break as far as the cancer clinic hear it's really good so I will stay for awhile yet.  Oh it was funny that you wrote the snow surprised you when you woke up yesterday the same thing happened to me. I didn't expect any and it really galed hear there was a hug accident on the 401 close to Woodstock and I hope on the news tonight that no one was killed, scary this winter weather when it causes white outs.     Hi Nicky, Sudbury eh? My husbands mothers side id from there. We are often there from may to end of october. Ever heard of Panage Lake? Thats where we go, have an old fixer upper "camp" there. Kills 2 birds with one stone, we get to cottage and see the relatives at the same time. They are spread from webbwood to espanola and sudbury. Long drive but once we're there it's worth it. The Port Perry main fair is called festival days and usually runs around the 10-13 of july....on that clostest weekend. It's a bit of everything.....all weekend long. Where in sudbury area are you?

    Pearl, peterborough area is beautiful too, so many nice lakes, my dream was to buy another waterfront to retire........who knows.....sometimes dreams happen!! You've had alot on your plate. When you feel strong, get out to the lake.....it soothes the spirit. I find that for me it is the best therapy for whatever ails me. Stay strong and if you ever want to come to Port for a time let me know. Weather was a bummer today too, pretty cold and more snow.....looking forward to spring.

    Hello Everybody!

    I am from a very small town in Eastern Ontario south of Ottawa where literally everyone is a relative.  We live in 'CowTown' as my daughter calls it on a dairy farm - actually we sold our cows a few years ago and are semi-retired, just cropping and 'horseing around' now.  Cancer treatment centre is about an hour and a half away so radiation for 6 weeks was a bit of a bummer.

    Hi Nan...so do you go to Ottawa for treatments??? How small town are you? I have a sister in Perth and sister in law in Kanata. I love perth. Ever heard of Tichbourne??? My husband was born there.....talk about "cowtown"?? LOL

    Hi MKE........you a Leafs fan?? I've got tickets to a game Feb. 5th. I'm not a real big hockey watcher but hubby is a die hard fan. Sounds like you've had a real rollercoaster ride. Keep up the good fight.

    I live in the Muskoka area and we travel to Manitoulin to get away from it all in the summer and Texas in the winter.  We are leaving in a couple of weeks.  I'm so tired of all the snow days and no sunlight.  Sorry, I'm whining!  I go to Sudbury for my treatments and I love it up there.

    Crazydaisy,  I love the Leafs.  I sure hope they make the playoffs.  Hockey is just not the same when they are elimated.

    Hi Diana, hmmm, I hear ya, this strech of winter always is the longest, I get SAD when there isn't enough sun. Nov. and Feb are the worst months I find. God, I LUUUUUUV the muskokas, especially between Gravenhurst and Bala. We usually take the scenic route from here to Sudbury, 169hwy to 69hwy. I never get tired of that part of the drive. Manitoulin is beautiful too. That's so funny that you leave everyone else's prime destination to get away to manitoulin. Muskokas gets real busy in summer tho. Ever taken a side trip to Britt or Killarny??? Killarny is breathtaking!

    Hi! Just came across this thread.  I'm from small town Wellesley, about 20 min. west of Kitchener Waterloo.  Crazydaisy, noticed you're ER-/PR-. Are you triple negative...HER2-?  I am and can't seem to find many who are.  Would be interested what your chemo treatment is/was.  I've finished 3 sessions of FEC and had my first treatment of Taxotere.  Taxotere has knocked the tar out of me...mostly the neuropathy.  Would like to connect with someone with triple negative BC.

    i'm not from ontario but am triple neg. I am waiting to see oncologist to proceed with the next part of the game plan. Should be next week. Care to share your particulars of stage, grade  etc. I am eager to get on with the game as the waiting drives you nuts. I didn't have far to go....

    Hi babsb, you know that's a good question, I don't know if they test for her2 for DCIS. Does anyone here know if they do? I'm still early in the game...still awaiting MX. PHEW.....seems so long to wait. Glad you found us here in ontario! There are some women on this site that are 3---tho. There is a thread you can go onto concerning it, keep looking, you'll find them and one is right here that just answered you.

    Hi Viv,

    I am a long way from Ontario but I was there last month for 3 weeks. My niece married a Canadian the year before last and she now lives in Burlington, just south of Oakville and Mississauga. I know you guys are sick of the snow but I did find it so exciting! I loved walking in it and seeing it frosting the trees. Niagara Falls was awesome, with huge icicles hanging off the cliffs. We spent one weekend up in the Blue Mountains - just near Collingwood, north of Barrie. It snowed really heavily. I love the black squirrels and the opossums and the beautiful trees.  Sorry - raving a bit but I do love your country. Would so like to come back sometime. My sister is flying back there in early February to be with her daughter who is due to give birth to her first baby. Wish she would put me in her suitcase!

    Hi guys.  Yep I live in Caledonia Ont.  about 10 minutes from Hamilton.  I've just gone through the surgery removing my tumor and lymph nodes.  Saw the oncologist yesterday and will most likely be starting chemo sometime in Feb.  Not looking forward to this at all.

    Hi Gb and Sonnebe! I guess it would be cool to see snow if you aren't used to it. It does look pretty after a fresh fall. Lots of winter sports too. We used to ski Blue Mountain alot but my knees complain about it big time now. Also did alot of snowmobiling.........now that is fun especially on nice trails. Wish I could see your country too....kanga's and all.

    Hey Sonnebe.......LOL......same Leafs game eh? Lets hope it's an exciting one!!! You are just the other side of TO, I'm just NE of TO. We pass that way to visit our daughter who is at Brock Univ. Hubby has a cousin in Burlington.......we will have a wedding to go there this year. I can't blame you for feeling that way about chemo stuff. Have yourself a little fun before you start and keep your chin up! Cancer sucks! My heart goes out to all. Hang tough girls!

    Oh crazydaisy, I miss snowmobiling, I remember the first time on one back then it was light yamaha, a nice dark red and I drove into my friends driveway and went into the house and said where the hell is reverse on this thing. Well reverse back then were my arms. So I learned to heave hough that puppy around, we were a bunch of young moms up in Madsen that's NW Ontario about 10klms north of Red Lake and we would get the men to babysit and then about 10 of us would go out and snowmobile the lakes and then sit and have drinks and laugh about all the wipe outs, but I can never forget that feeling of fresh unbroken snow on the lakes and just driving as fast as I could over them. Oh I miss that so much now, funny I had forgotten how much I used to love to snowmobile up north.  Thanks for reminding me, something else to day dream about. Pearl49

    Hey babsb:  your not that far from London and my family is from Kitchener/Waterloo so I know where Wellesly is, good food around there especially when the crops come in.  I love the St. Jacobs flea market so many great places around where you live, lucky.  I'm triple negative and hormone negative and the treatment I got in London was FEC-D and radiation. Where do you go for treatments, my sister says Kitchener has a good Cancer Clinic now I go to the London HSC Cancer Clinic.  I'm curious if there are many differences in our treatment plans. Pearl49

    Crazydaisy et al:

    I live in Saint Clair Shores and have relatives in Windsor. We are neighbors and don't even think of Canada as another country.

    Not many women are triple negative. I want to say maybe 20%. Anyway, it sure scares the hell out of me. I was in Austin, TX when diagnosed on 12/14/07. Got an oncologist and surgeon there. Had a lumpectomy 4.5 cm total, there were 2, one was invasive, good margins and nothing in lymph nodes.

    We had planned on our usual trip with friends to AZ and I didn't need to be crying around my daughter, her husband and my beloved granddaughter, so although I hated to leave them, it was better for all of us. So, in AZ (Coolidge, Arizona) I found an oncologist and radiologist, actually they are in Casa Grande and we are at an RV park in Coolidge.

    They both are very positive. It is a very aggressive cancer but cureable. The oncologist was to call the oncologist in TX to discuss my plan with her, but the research I have done since being in AZ, I want his treatment. He said we're going to treat this aggressively and kick butt.

    My TX doctor said 3-6 months of chemo, every 3 weeks, AC with Taxol and 35 rounds of radiation.  The AZ doctor wants to to do the chemo every 2 weeks, AC with Taxotere, 35 rounds of radiation with the last several sessions localized only to the tumor site, then more chemo every 2 weeks. He said the number of chemo sessions will be the same as the TX dr. but only they'll be closer together.

    I have read that dense dose is good. Have the chemo closer together and I have also read a lot about Cisplatin. I am going to ask him about Cisplatin when I see him this week. The TX dr. said no to Cisplatin but didn't say why, just that it isn't used for "this."

    I get my port in Tues a.m. then I presume I'll start chemo this week or next. I had my lumpectomy 2 weeks ago tomorrow 1/26/08.

    You know, from what I have read, Canada has some real good standards on triple negative bc.
