I have Lori's address and phone number and will be contacting her this week to set up a time when my mother (6 yr survivor) and I can go to Boone and visit. According to Mapquest she lives 35 miles from my house.

Hi Girls!
Sorry I was gone so long. Shame on me! I'm doing pretty good... good to see everyone is well!
I had a PET scan done and got the all clear! Yipee!
So far, my heart is the same. Just had an echo done at the beginning of January. Haven't talked to the doc yet, but not expecting any startling news.
My ankles, knees, and shoulders are really hurting me. I'm gonna ask the cardiologist if any of my meds could be effecting my joints. I am really hobbbling around!
Mostly, I am just glad to be back to work and getting on with my life.
I'll try to get back here more often!!
Love you guys!

Hi PGC's! I have great positives!
1. "Duke" has been only 10 cc's today and I am scheduled for it to come out Wednesday. Fills I guess start the following Monday.
2. The FORCE chat-a-thon fundraiser is over and our team did 135% over our goal!
3. My ex ran like a scared rabbit when dh went to empty the trashcan as my ex was leaving. I thought dh was going to have words with him but he behaved.
4. I had a great time having lunch on Sunday with 2 gals from the boards, Sunshine (I think that's her ID) and Shrink.
5. Launched our family website and sent out emails to everyone on my address list.
Glad to see you Lori! Hi MissS, Jule, Sheila and especially Bubbly1, our newest PGC! Coming here makes me get my arse in gear and get my positives together.
-
Hi Ladies, I'd like to join the PGC. I need some positive energy. Don't know whats going on with me lately. If I didn't know better, I'd think I was just starting menopause---I'm so miserable lately, I can't stand myself !!! I'm hoping it's just the " winter blues".
But, on a positive note, I had my colonoscopy last week, and all went well--don't have to do that again for 5 more yrs.
Thanks for being here !!!
Hugs -
Hi all. Welcome Bubbly and Barb. Good to see you back Lori and Miss S. Bubbly, it's always nice to get good results from tests. I'm due for my next colonoscopy next year.
My lunch last Wednesday was great. 15 ladies plus the instuctor's 2 year old daughter showed up. We had a great time. Some of us went shopping afterward at the gift shop a few doors down. I showed them a few things my hubby got me for Christmas from there.
Towards the end of the week I got a visit from my old friend constipation, but things were moving again by Sunday. Ever since Chemo it seems to sneak up on me when I least expect it. I'm taking my mineral oil and fiber and hopefully it won't bother me for a little while, now.
I started this week off by being good. Even with the cool, damp weather, I went to my water aerobics class. After I got home the hubby and I went out to lunch and picked up a few things at the store.
Beth, good news about Duke, glad he'll be outta there this week. Meeting on line friends is great, isn't it. Thanks for sharing your other projects, too.
I'll try to think of something more positive for next time.
-
Hope all have had a positive good week.
My Dh was almost home at 10:00 am this morning and his truck broke down. They had to tow him 45 miles from where he was to get it repaired and who knows when he will get home.
Here is my positive news. My Oncology surgeon has released me from him. I thought that I would have a couple of years follow-up with him every 6 months but he told me Wed that since I did the bi-mast my gp and gyn should be able to follow up and if I had any problems go back and see him! All this just 7 months after my surgery. Since I am not doing chemo or rads he feels comfortable letting me go.

Welcome bubbly! Good to hear from everyone. Thanks for the welcome back....
Barb, sorry you've been feeling blue. Hopefully, you'll get out of that rut soon. I know I have to fight it sometimes! Grrr!
Beth, hope your drain came out on Wednesday. I remember drains! What fun!
Jule, I never thought I'd see the day we'd have to be running you down.
Hope you're doing well.
Sheila, glad your onc surgeon released you. I have my breast surgeon, my med onc, my rad onc, my cardiologist, my PCP, and my LT.... no one will release me. LOL I have asked for mercy and been told I am special and need lots of doctors. LOL Of course, I never went to the doctor before BC unless I was afraid I might die.
My positive for the week: I made it through another week at work and my company hasn't shut down.
I have an appointment this week to find out the results of my latest echo. Will let you know if there has been any improvement.
Love you!

I can't believe it has been nearly a year (Feb. 9) since my mastectomy. In April I will be done with my herceptin tx.
Sheila, what good news, I hope to be able to have the same news in a few months. I do have to go in to have my port-a-cath flushed monthly. My mammo a few weeks ago was clear. I go for my Echo in a few weeks.
Doc has increased my pain meds and added arthritis meds and I have seen a radical change--positive--in my energy and sleep.
Last week was a doozy...terrible time...but I am finally getting a grip on the patterns....it seems that in a blink I will have a really bad week of pain, depression, insomnia etc then in just another blink I will be back to feeling great and the pain meds working. I am the kind of person who lives in the now as much as possible but one factor that I have had to overcome is that I tend to view that now, whatever it is, as though it is the only now that will ever exist...like when I am miserable it seems I will never be unmiserable...
Soooo my goal is to remember that these days will pass and to take care of myself and not get frustrated with the "can'ts" and remember that the "cans" will return a lot faster if I don't dwell on the not-so-good days. AND IT WORKS! Yippee for one more lesson learned.
Wednesday I had a severe panic attack. Usually I have them after a nightmare (I have PTSDD) so I wasn't aware of the pattern of the symptoms indicating onset. Nausea, vomiting, depression, clumbsiness, anger etc. (typical panic attack stuff). I don't think I have ever experienced such misery, and yet at the same time my spirit was in control and I felt quite happy...figure that one out! I think I passed that test as well....having a positive spiritual attitude keeps my sanity in tack and helps the attack run its course more quickly. I am quite proud of myself!
I am back to working on my book, scrapbooking, needlework and try to read a few pages a day (my only one eye left gets tired quickly from book reading)
Our son moved to a group home Jan 1. With my ill health and having to also work through the growing years of our two children I never felt like I was a "good enough" mother and never felt like I bonded with our daughter (25) and son (20 who is mentally handicapped). A recent telephone call with my daughter who lives out of state confirmed that my thoughts were unfounded and we have been talking more on the phone and bonding as "women". And then the miracle of miracles happened. Over the past two weeks my son and I have talked a lot on the phone (my husband has always been the stay at home parent and I wasn't involved in the coordinating of their daily lives. Husband home schooled our daughter and drove both kids to activities, etc) and the transition to the group home has been wonderful. He has matured so much and is so happy. He calls for advice and support. He has a hard time communicating his thoughts and feelings into words, but as of late he has been doing such a great job. Last week we bonded beyond my wildlest expectations and I finally have realized what a good mother I was/am and how happy both our children are in their lives. Perhaps that is the secret ingredient to feeling so much better, even on those not-so-good physical days.
Whew, this is perhaps the longest post I have done, but I just had to share how much I have learned about "not fighting" the not-so-good days and taking care of myself and remembering that they too shall pass.
Have you noticed how much we learn from each other when we share...we discover "hey, I can relate to that, or wow, that gave me a light bulb moment." Those moments can very easily change someone else's life.
Okay, I will get off the "open mic" and get on with my day.
Bunches o'love to each and every one of you POSITIVE GIRLS!
-

Ok, now for the rest of you special ladies
....bet ya all thought I forgot ya huh!!!!
MissS-I hope the aches and pains have eased some......I think alot of times the meds are the culprit and we just need to find the correct mixture that our bodies can tolerate....YEA on the PET scan results!!!!!!
Beth-glad to see things are going smoothly for you...havent been on chat much lately but hope to catch up with you there again soon for a visit....also can you please send me your website info again? I accidentally deleted it...
Barb-Sorry about the blues sweetie, life can throw some pretty firm blocks in our way but remember....WE ALWAYS chizels away at them and feel better once we reach the other side.....
Shelia-What great news!!! No more docs for you girl
...hope hubby has made it home safe and sound by now and that you are enjoying your time together....
Bubbly-Welcome to the site....how are you doing with things? Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you.
Ok, last but not least......whats been going on for me.....
Work has been silly busy this past few weeks....we have started a new project to see how the fish are surviving their trip to the ocean and back to our local rivers to spawn so have spent the past two weeks at the hatchery tagging fish.....well until mid-last week anyway....there has been a nasty cold going around and I got it so ended up off work for 3 extra days
, but am feeling better now...
Our weather has been volital to say the least!!!! We have now had everything from extremely high winds to a sleet storm that hit here last night....this morning it is warmer and doing a mixed snow/rain thingy.....I was hoping for the snow that they were predicting as I learned to snowboard a couple of weeks ago and want to go again soon
...
I do have one question for you ladies, the colonospcopy thing......Im 47 and have never had one and none of the doctors have ever said anything about doing one....is this something I should look into??? I have thought about it in the past as my dads brother recently passed away from colon cancer so it is in my family....
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend and are doing wonderfully.....
Hugs

Hello everyone, good to hear from all of you.
Lori, it's good to hear that you are bonding with your kids. Those panic attacks can be scary, now that you know what to look for maybe they won't be so bad for you.
Miss S, Making it through the week sounds like a positive to me.
Jule, I think they start routine colonoscopies at age 50. My PCP started with a sigmoidoscopy then, but switched to the full colonoscopy when I was 53. I liked the full deal lots better. Mainly because I was asleep during most of it and didn't feel a thing, even when the surgeon snipped out a couple of polyps.
After a dismal week of cool, damp weather here in Austin, the sun finally came out yesterday. It is supposed to cool off again towards the end of this week, but not nearly as much as last week. I'm glad that our cold weather in Texas lasts only a few days instead of a few months like it did when I lived in Wisconsin. On a positive note, even though it was damp and misty, there wasn't enough precipitation to freeze on the roads.
I made it to my water aerobics class all 3 times last week and the list wasn't full. I guess the cold weather convinced the New Year's resolution types to stay home.
I'm doing scrapbooking, too. Most months, I do 2 or 3 pages for my Aqua Angels Lunch group. I needed to get a new book for this month and found one I liked at Michael's. It will be our third book since we started the lunchs in June 2004.
I'm starting to get ready for a trip to California. My hubby and I spend half of the time sight seeing and the other half visiting my family out there. We were there about a year ago when I was between chemo infusions, so this year I'll be able to show off my new hair and do a bit more.
I hope you have a good week coming up. See you soon.
-
good to see all returned over the weekend.
MsS, My cancer was caught in the early stage (DCIS) with no invasion or node involvemnt so I do not need chemo or rads since I did the bilat mast, so now the only surgeon that I am seeing is the PS and I go tomorrow to get the finishing touches on my new boobs! My mom, on the other hand had to take chemo and rads and just last year (5 yrs post treatment) the breast surgeon (same one that I had) and onc released her, telling her to keep the follow-ups with her gp.
My company, I keep getting added responsibilities as technology changes and my job title keeps changing but I still have a job.
Jule, my mom had her first colonoscopy just the beginning of this year and she is 68, she kept putting it off.
Debbie, good to see you are still going to your water aerobics, I make it to the weekly yoga class at the wig bank.
Lori, I am also doing crafts, now I am crocheting Angels and snowflakes for the church bazaar, and chemo caps for the wig bank as a volunteer. Glad to hear you have a good relationship with your children. My son emailed me this weekend to say he loves me. Right now we are restricted to emailing due to him being somewhere in the Persian gulf area on a US Navy ship for 6 months.

Hello friends, I'm feeling better this week, I think it's because the sun has been shining the past few days ! What a difference that makes.
I've been trying to teach myself to crochet--it's making me crazy, but I'm determined to get the hang of it.
Debbie, water aerobics sound great. I use to love swimming, I need to find a place near me, I'd love to do water aerobics.
Julie my dr. sent me for my first colonoscopy when I turned 50. I had a polyp removed, so I had to have another one three yrs. later, which was last week--no polyps this time, so now I'm good for 5 more yrs.
Hope everyone has a great week!
Hugs -
Whewwww,
I so dont want to see any doctors until my next follow up in May....I was beginning to worry that maybe I should call about the colonoscopy thing, but I think I will wait until they bring it up....I know bad girl, but Im so sick of doctors!!!!!
Im sick of being home too!!!! I had a nasty cold so was off work for 2 1/2 days at the end of last week and now our weather has made it too unsafe to drive to work...have been home now for 6 and 12/ days and am driving myself silly!!!!!
I had several projects in the works but have finished them all but two...one will be done later today and the other is an on going project for ladies here at the board...I am one that crochets the square for the Huggagins that are being sent out to ladies that need so extra TLC through bad times. It is such a satisfying project...its wonderful to see the ladies that receive these blankets post with such joy in them....I know that Barb has started this project too and soon will see a picture of a blanket with squares that she made in it....Im not sure but I think a couple of the ladies here might have received one of these too...
Well, better get back at it....
Hugs

Hi PGC's!
Barb, you and I keep bumping into each otehr on a few threads, lol!
Jule, yes, we have to catch up. I am not too fast on im's but it is fun! Sent you the email about the website.
Drain is still in so that is not too positive. But I did get our family website up and running. I still have more work to do and of course there are always more pics to upload. Please take a look: www.freewebs.com/larryandbeth. I have lots of family pics and am trying to get more of the old tintypes to preserve online. You can sign the guestbook and get on my mailing list to get updates. I do have a blog on there but sometimes don't have much to say so there are gaps in time. It has been my labor of love and has taken a lot of time to do. It has kept me busy while recuperating.
Well, that is about as positve as I can get today. Lots of money problems right now but we will get through it too.
TTYL kids!

YEE HA! "Duke" came out on Wednesday. It wasn't until 5 PM, then we got some dinner and had to go drop things off at my mom's (she is in assisted living, Sunrise). I was beat by the time I got home. Yesterday, Larry had a procedure on his back and we both collapsed for the rest of the morning!
Today is our 3rd anniversary! I just said elsewhere, we are like the blind leading the blind but still can hug and cuddle. Tomorrow, we are spending the day glued to TCM watching a lot of our favorite movies! A perfect day, together.
Oh, my first fill is Monday morning, the 4th. I am a little nervous but the PA in his office said everyone is the first time.
Have a great weekend everyone! Love to all!
-
Great news Beth, you got rid of Duke! I did not have any troubles during my fills, just make sure that they go slow. I had 60cc each fill but one. The 3rd one he tried 100cc and I was still tight a week later, with 60cc I was usually stretched out by day 4 or 5. Congrats on your third wedding anniversary. My dh and I just had our 11th in December, the day of my nipple surgery!
My good news is my insurance appeal came through for the use of AlloDerm for my reconstruction. I had to take it to the 2nd grevience level reviewed by an outside surgeon to verify that it is common practice to use the alloderm in recon. They now have to pay the full amount to the ps.
My bad news is I did not get my tattoos this week, the gun broke but I am rescheduled for Wednesday.
Sheila
-
Beth, great news about Duke finally being out of there. One more step closer to the new you. Your website was lots of fun to visit, all those cute slide shows. It took me a while before I realized that I could click on that rolling cube to stop on a picture. You have a good looking family and friends there. Happy anniversary, I hope TCM has some good movies for your date night. It's 31 days of Oscar again so maybe they'll show some interesting winners.
Sheila, good to hear that the insurance is coming through. For what we pay in premiums it seems like they shouldn't fight us for every claim like they do.
This week I stopped in at the salon after my water aerobics on Wednesday and had the stylist trim up my neckline. She cut my hair for about a year and a half before I started Breast Cancer treatment. She's always done just what I wanted and nothing extra. This time she cut the longer neck line hair first with scissors and finished with the clippers. It's looking almost like a real hair cut. The shop is right there inside my fitness club so she's been able to see my progress as the hair has been growing the past 6 months or so.
I had my monthly massage on Thursday. My massage therapist always makes me feel better after he finishes.
I wanted to see if my hair was long enough for curlers, so I got out the smallest ones I had and rolled the top and sides yesterday afternoon. The hair is so fine it barely held the rollers, but it looked nice and full until I slept on it last night. I'll probably wait another month or two to really use curlers. So far the hair isn't flopping down in my face, but it's nice to have a plan just in case.
Again this week I made it to water aerobics three times.
I'm am starting to get ready for my trip to California. We fly out to San Francisco on Feb 12th, our 37th anniversary and fly home on Feb 28th, 3 days after my BD (Feb 25). We'll be sight seeing and visiting my family in between all the little celebrations.
I'll try to check again next week before I leave.
-
Sheila, I am still waiting to hear from you...you crochet too...we will have much to talk about. I love angels! I do snowflakes with glass blobs...also doing some earflap hats I designed. I am getting enough energy back now to try and find crafts stores/galleries to sell my stuff. I use to sell through the county arts council but they didn't advertise enough and I didn't have the energy to do so myself. Been working on my book and doing my needlework, which I dearly love!
-
Hi everyone my name is Jill and I'm new here. Can I join if I'm just positive some of the time? lol I sure would like to have some positive energy sent my way. I was out meeting & greeting and I came upon this thread and read a little of it and decided this was cool, I need it. I want to read more tomorrow when I have more time. So can I join?
-
Hi PGC's! I was not up to par yesterday to post. I had my first fill and was not really comfortable. I took a vicodin and fell sound asleep. It is still sore today, especially at the top of the expander. But the good thing is I feel I am on my way to getting to the end of my journey!
Jill,"ran" into you over in the dreamers thread. Most of the time we try to post positives but support of every kind is here too. Stay and join in!
Deb, we got to watch so many great movies. And yesterday was biography day movies. The one about Mark Twain was really good, I had never seen it before. And when I watched the Glenn Miller story, I turned it off before the end since I always cry over it. Keep up the good work! Take a pic of before with your hair and then again an after so we can all see the difference.
Lori, good to see your posts. Have you ever wandered over to the craft thread? I used to post there more often with pics of what I had finished. The last group of knitting I did were scarves for holiday presents. I am now making a sweater for our niece. Then I have a special project for one of the gals here at bco who is expecting.
Sheila, is it you who is having the tattoo done? The PA at my PS's office does henna tats. I am still deciding about them.
Jule, our IM time has to be longer next time so we can really catch up! Good "seeing" you!
Everyone enjoy the week. I am off to get breakfast and on with my day!
-
Jill, welcome to the PGC. Everyone is welcome to bring positive vibes to everyone as well as vent when things don't go so well.
Yes Beth, I am having my tattoos done tomorrow! I will get to pick the color and size
, since I had bilat done she doesn't have to try to match the remaining side. The PS has a nurse trained in cosmetic tattoos and she will be doing them. She said that it takes about an hour to do the tattoos on both sides.
I also need to check out the craft thread, I crochet and ordered some new patts for the Christmas tree topper Thread Angels last week.
Sheila
-
Jill, I don't think any of us are positive all of the time! Welcome. I don't post very often, but believe me I have had some pretty dumpy days. A friend use to say, "All days are good, some just better than others."
Beth, is craft thread a website? I just got some Red Heart Strata yarn and love it and doing socks till I drop!
Sheila, good luck on the tatoo! What kind and where? Or is that a secret?
Hope I didn't scare you away Sheila! I know my history is rather bizarre and if you googled me it might have not given you a good "picture" of me...
Let's just say, if you are ever in the area and want to get together, call me...I don't bite...hehehehe.
-
Thank you ladies for the warm welcome. Meeting positive people is a big help as support. Did a little reading today but need to do more. Have a restful evening ladies.
-
Lori, you did not scare me off, I have been busy with activities around the open house of the Wig Bank of Caldwell County next month and have barely had time to turn around and breath. My tattoos are the finishing touches to my breast reconstruction. And guess what -- The ps office called yesterday afternoon to reschedule again!!!! One of the scrub nurses at his office is sick and won't be able to scrub today for his appointments at the OR. Hopefully I will get them next week.
Jill hope we will be able to help you through any rough times.
Sheila
-
Lori, I love the Red Heart Strata! I made the scarf they have on the label just to get used to using it. There is a craft thread under Moving Beyond, Time to Circle the Wagons. You may have to search for it since I have no idea how often it gets used anymore.
Jill, believe me, my day today started out very positive but deteriorated in an hour. I may come here too to lean on some friends. I posted about it on the Dreamers thread and I don't want to burden everyone with it.
Sheila, what kind of tats do they use? Real ink or the henna? I think the PA at the PS office does henna. You probably told me before but I can't remember s****!
-
They use the real ink. The nurse is trained in cosmetic tattoos, she does the permanent eyeliner, eyebrow and lip liner also. I am not one for make-up so I will not consider those procedures. I was postponed the first time because the tattoo gun broke, this time because of illness of office staff.
She did say that they would numb the area prior to the procedure unlike getting a tattoo at the tattoo parlor.
My son sent me an e-mail today they are at the hump day for the deployment! He thanked me for everything I am doing to help him during this deployment. I am sending care boxes every 3 to 4 weeks.
