have any of you ladies have had a tram flap? did you have any problems with scar tissue or keloids? i went in for my consultation a few days ago and was told that is what will be done. i keloid very easily.
-
I had an IGAP and although I never had problems with keloids before, I do have one on the left breast around the areola area. The surgery was in June and it seems to have gotten a little better with time...
Don't forget to mention this to your PS. I'm sure he or she has had patients who have keloid scar issues before - but talk about it up front so you both will know what to expect... -
I had a lat flap done nov 06... I dont have the best healing skin at all keloid. I still went ahead with the surgery. I must admit that my scarring isnt the best and it itches quite a bit. I am happy about the result of the surgery just a shame that the scars arent the best. I used something called dermatix and got it on prescription. That helped a bit. Twice a day although it was difficult to put it on my back..
Speak to your PS and see what he recommends . let us know what he says.

I had a lumpec, but also had scar tissue under the skin that is hard from surgery and radiation. My Oncologist sent me to a Vodder P.Therapist to bust up some of that tissue. I originally went to get my arms up over my head for my radiation treatments. Will be finished, prayfully, next Wednesday.

thanks for your advice ladies. my surgery will be in about seven months when i heal from radiation. ps said that scar massage therapy or steroid injections would be options. Fyi ladies: i was running a temp for several days along with flu like symptoms two weeks ago . when my onc ran blood work and chest xrays, i had a bad upper respitory infection. my white blood cell count was 1.7. (dangerously low). everyday last week after radiation treatments i had to get i.v. antibiotics and white blood cell booster shots. i was out of work all week. i just have a little bit of coughing now. i was severly reprimanded by my doctors and nurses. ladies, the slightest cough or temp you have, run, dont walk to your onc. i learned a very good lesson. onc put the fear of God in me when he said, one more week without any treatment i could have died.

lee, how are you? did you finish your treatments successfully?

pnut,
When I had my areola tattoos done last week, the artist mentioned that many of her clients use tee tree oil on their keloids. It works for lot of people - and works well - but for some, it does nothing. May be worth a try... -
Hi pnut2...Almost done with treatments. Yes! Tomorrow (Jan 24th) is my big day. It was really suppose to be today, but the rads machine had problems yesterday and broke down. I needed a day break anyway. My shoulder blade is pretty bruised looking and really sore, as well as the crease under my breast.
This has been a long journey to get to this month. I started my 1st chemo the 1st week of June of last year.
Thank you for asking. Take care.
