Higher Vitamin D intake associated with lower breast density
Comments

Also for those without a family history, higher intake of total protein and higher intake of animal protein were each linked with higher breast density. What's 'funny' is that I was a vegetarian for 10 years and always a light protein eater.

oh, the link didn't work again. Can anyone help me figure out how to paste clickable links on this site?
-
After you paste the link maybe try hitting the return key so the link becomes underlined - - - otherwise I think it just appears as text.
-
Bay-- after I put the link up, --I highlight it. Once highlighted I click on what looks like an infinity sign. (it only appears on the taskbar when the link is highlighted) Then a box opens up in which you have to retype the URL. Once youv'e done that there is another line for the title. I usually write link. Than there is a box to hit--don't know whether it says accept or okay --something like that just hit it and it will be clickable---
kind of cumbersome but it always works.

Well, that's confusing. No family history, vegetarian for 20+ years (low protein intake) with extremely dense breasts. Hmmm, I think their study missed something.

I agree that this study is missing some critical fact.
-
I wonder if the study took into consideration women on HRT's. They don't mention it:
"HRT's effect on breast density is not the same for all women.
2004 NOV 9 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- In recent years scientists have discovered that hormone therapy (HT), specifically estrogen plus progesterone therapy, increases breast density - a change that makes it harder to detect breast cancer on mammograms. "
The study is saying though the vitamin D takers had less dense breasts. Another good reason to be taking D3.
-
Oh yippee, it worked! thanks for the help!
Yes, the vitamin D connection is the main reason I posted it--seems that D is so good for so many things.
-
Good article. I hate meat (and still do), and also took the combo HRT. So, there ya go! And I, of course, had/have breasts (one breast left) that are/is (now) dense. But, I'm taking more vitamin D. Perhaps it will get that "denseness" outta that darn breast. LOL
