Boy was my face Red!
I was in a minor accident yesterday. After spending 8 hours in emergency being poked, prodded and throughly tested, I was finally released to go home. I was so tired and sore that I plopped my breast form on the table next to my chair and propped up with my icebags on my leg and hand.
A dear older couple from church came over to check on me and my dh. All went well for a couple of minutes and then they suddenly excused themselves and left. After they left, it dawned on me that my breast form was rather prominently displayed and I was decidedly one-sided. My dh and I are laughing and flustered about the whole thing! Well, now I'm just trying to come up with an appropriate greeting on Sunday, with a straight face. Am I the only one with red face moments???

Hey txgrl,
My son (6)and I were in the store and a gentlemen bumped into my prosthetic and was so embarrassed because he thought he touched my breast , My son promptly shouted " hey, don't worry that one isn't real" so....
Don't be too embarrassed , get a good laugh , it could be worst.

Please ignore any posts from joancollins. This is the same individual - or at least related to the same individual - who has been on the board under the names of "docbob" and "docrob" earlier in the week. The moderators continue to delete this indivduals posts, but it's hard to keep up as he keeps registering under different names. It seems that this person is being paid to promote certain websites.
For any information that you need about breast cancer detection and treatment, this site, BC.org, is the best place to start.

One of my sons-in-law blurted out, "I can't tell the difference" at a dinner we were at. OMG, thank goodness we were at one end of the table!! Not too many knew what we were talking about.
On the subject of blocking certain people---maybe trying to block ip addresses rather than names would be more successful. I've done this at our school (with the help of our Regional service center.) Don't know how the carrier is for this board, but I'm sure they would be happy to assist.

I actually lost mine in the pool one day while swimming laps. as I came into the shallow end, I saw something floating in the pool...and, whoops! thankfully, I found it before anyone else did! P.

This was the best laugh I've had in a while, although I've not yet been fitted, we have laughed thinking of the possibilities especially being a watersporter. I'll go to bed this evening with a smile on my face, thanks!!!!

I wear my regular prostheses in a non-pocketed bra (they're silicone with microfiber backs), but I always wear a pocketed swimsuit. (For me, a Land's End tankini with Amoena leisure forms, Style 126, works well.) I'm not one who wants to draw attention to myself--wouldn't want a boob or two floating on the water!
txgrl01, I hope you your meeting at church with you friends went okay . . .

Erica - does that mean they're 'contact' forms? I would love to wear a regular bra - the mast ones are really not that attractive.....
I noticed you joined this site in October 2003, same as me!

Hi Sam,
I remember your username from way back when! No, they're not contact forms. They're made by Airway and called Tritex. They're silicone forms but the back of the form (the part that's against the skin) has a layer of soft microfiber--they really are soft and comfortable against my skin and I don't perspire at all in them. I highly recommend them. I had radiation on one side and am a bit fearful of the contact forms, though some women love them. With the Tritex forms, I can wear any bra and they're easy on my skin.
I see that you're from the UK. I believe that in Europe these forms are marketed by Anita. Here's a link to their website: http://www.anita.com/de/en/0,2,105,1490,39070__products-detail.htm. Or, if you wanted to order them from the U.S., here's a link to an American online company that sells them: http://www.womanspersonalhealth.com/products/190/Tritex-Triangular-Breast-Form.htm. Hope this helps!

I admit that I wasn't wearing a pocketed top when I lost my form in the pool...I didn't even know it was gone. I am glad it floated, but as there were children in the pool at the time, I narrowly escaped major embarrassment...I can just picture a tot holding it up..."What's this, Mommy?...Catch!" whew! p.

Yes! We all have those moments. Mine came IN church this spring at Easter service. A lady who also attends regularly leaned over to us and told my 4 year old son how handsome he looked in his new suit. I was sporting a new short wig for spring and she commented that she liked my new hairdo. My son promptly returned with, "It's a wig!" I just held my head high and said, "Thank you, Thomas. Now let's sit down."
Now, it is definitely a moment to laugh about.
As is the time he blew of my wig at the science museum. I was VERY thankful that time that there was no one else on the floor!

Hey Anita,
I had a similar incident tonight at my son's play at school. Unfortunately mine didn't come from an incident 4 year old, but from my well intentioned father. A friend gave me a wig to try before I decided if I wanted to purchase it. I wore it to the play tonight and in the middle of the auditorium my father promptly states "Wow, your hair sure has grown in an awful lot since this afternoon". Needless to say everyone three rows up and back turn to see who he was talking about. I had to laugh and say thanks dad, so much for keeping on a low key. What are you going to do? You have to just love and laugh.
Keep laughing,
Jenny

Hi
The first day I wore my wig out shopping, my son and I went into a gift shop. We were looking at this copper wire thing on a styrofoam head, wondering what it was, when the shop owner approached us and offered to demonstrate it on me. It was a head massager! Needless to say, I declined the offer.

Oh, ladies, I am laughing so hard that I'm sure my husband will come in here soon to find out what's going on! Your stories are so hilarious...it's too bad they couldn't be written up in some sort of booklet to be given to women dealing with breast cancer.
I found out I have invasive ductal carcinoma 2 days ago, but I don't know what treatment I'll need or even what surgery options I'll have because I need an MRI to find out if there's just one tumor or multiple tumors. The MRI will be next week (hopefully). If it confirms the doctors' clinical impression that I have Stage I IDC, I'll get to choose between mastectomy versus lumpectomy+radiation. I never imagined those topics would provide anything to laugh about.
Thank you so much for the light thread on this oh-so-serious discussion board!

LOL, to funny. This is the very reason after 2 years I had reconstruction. I would take it out and couldn't find it for work the next morning...Had to call my boss and tell her why I was going to be late.
