I had to be at work at 8:00 am but I taped it to watch later. I have been following her cancer experience, she was dx just after I had my surgery.

I heard her say she had "eight" chemo treatments. Just thought I would put this out there......I had "six TAC scheduled, made it through four." She is a trooper.

Does anyone know what kind of breast cancer Robin Roberts had? -Size + or -, type of chemo, etc. I din't know how I missed all of this. Just wondering.

She has not disclosed the details of her cancer other than it was found early. At the beginning she was hoping not to do chemo, but after her lumpectomy / SNB it was determined that she had to take chemo.

I just watched the video. I couldn't help but weep while watching it. I'm so, so grateful for getting my life back. I can feel it when I get out and run or hike. I'm stronger every day. Every day.

I watched it too. It took me back to my days of being in that "chair". I got quite emotional...I too had 8 sessions. And it just brought back some not so happy memories...but also a smile...it was great to know that she made it through the worst part. There's nothing like that LAST CHEMO FEELIN'!

I was late to work waiting for it to come on and it was completely worth it! I loved the bubbles! My nurses sang and played fake instruments (banging tin, etc.) after my final infusion. I noticed that she seemed to have her own room....? I also liked her talk with her onc and how she admitted to be worried about recurrence. I also loved seeing how relieved she was, saying the most dreaded part was over and now it's "only" rads. That's exactly how I felt...on that final day, I actually felt, for the first time, like i might actually live!
YAY FOR ROBIN!!!! She's rockin'!!!!

Actually, I was reading some magazine while waiting for the mamogram, and Robin said she was originally told it was DCIS. Her SNB was clear but the final path report upgraded her to Stage 1 or 2 (I've forgotten which).
-
At one point, I thought that Robin mentioned "the red devil" and then, today, she alluded to having tingling in her fingers as a side effect. Based on those little hints, I'm guessing she had "the usual"....AC+T. And for some reason, I feel as though she hinted at being her2 positive or having to take Herceptin..? Maybe I imagined that....

Robin and I have the same onc!
I remember posting Dr. Oratz's name here last summer when Robin was first dx'd and a lot of us were perturbed at her surgeon's glib attitude ("women breeze through chemo these days") -- I said I hoped she got referred to a really good oncologist like Dr. Oratz (who is listed among breastcancer.org advisory board).
-
I recall Robing saying it was a Stage 0 or 1. My gut says 1...it's been a while, but I did hear her say one morning early on.
-
What a beautiful person she is. Seeing that picture made me cry. Now I feel such happiness for her to be done with chemo.
-
I remember seeing her when she first announced it. Then saw her later on GMA and she had her surgery and I think had to have rads, but not chemo. I remember thinking, good for her, she doesn't have to go through those horrible tx's. I was just finishing mine around then. I had 8 tx's. So, now she ended up having to have the chemo? Wow, I think that would be hard, to think..No..I don't have too do chemo, then to find out that you do.
I will watch the link that Jane put on to catch up.

Robin announced that she had been diagnosed the day after I got the call from my breast surgeon. I've followed her journey with interest...I think she's such a cool lady.
I pray that she breezes through radiation like I did. God bless you, Robin!

I was so happy to see her proudly showing her bald head! It must be so hard to go through bc in the public eye like she has been. What a neat celebration for chemo "graduation"!
I also appreciated the doctor talking about the uncertainties with treatments and how everyone handles it differently and has unique side effects.
My prayer for Robin is that she finishes rads and never has to deal with bc again (as is my prayer for you all!).

One Bad Boob, I just went to the article. Thanks for sharing it with us. I also admire Robin.

Here is an article that she has cancer again. A rare blood cancer that could be a result of her chemo treatments for TNBC. This is very scary.
-
redporchlady,
Your link is to an article from 2012, she is currently cancer free. Ms. Roberts has already been treated for this and appears to be doing well. The fact that this arose as a side effect from her earlier chemo is a known, but not common, possibility.
-
Good to know that she has beat this but shows that we have to be aware of the things that can happen to us we go thru chemo treatments and our choices.
