I had my 6 month mammo on the right, 12 month mammo on the left.  I was so happy that I didn't have to go back in for what I call the super squish, you know the one where they get the little presser out and squeeze even harder.  That has always been bad news.

I celebrated too soon.  I have to go back next week for an untrasound on the left.  I've never had a breast ultrasound, but it sounds like it will be easier than a mammogram.

I am so tired of these breasts.  They have been nothing but trouble all my life.

That is crappy.  Sorry you have to have this worry.  We'll be thinking of you.

Never had an ultrasound?  You're in for a treat (seriously).  They put slipperycold goo all over your boob and then rub a thing all over it (how's THAT for a non-technical explaination) (*laugh*).

Seriously, they've called me in for an ultrasound after almost every one of my mammo's, and only one turnd out to be a problem.  At the very least, ultrasounds are so much more comfortable than mamoms, that no matter what the results, it's not a test to be feared.

    Good luck with it!!!

Thanks for the replies.  I have had ultrasounds, pregnancy ones where you drink a gallon and then sit with your legs crossed in desperation.  Ah - those were the happy days.

I am not dealing well with this.

This is cake.  Literally, they slap some KY gel on your breast, and run the probe over it while you lay there.  Gets a much better read then those crushing mammo's.

Please let us know when you get the results... Hoping it's nothing...

Best to you mke, the ultrasound is a walk in the park.  Of course, waiting for the results is not.  Hang in there and let us know how it goes.  I was afraid of doing all the "watch you closely" stuff and ended going back and having the "good" breast removed also.  Not for everyone, but...........  I am happy with my decision and my flat chest!  LOL

got to love that cold jelly on the warm boob! I have had numerious ultrasounds when I had lumps that proved to be fluid cysts. they would use the probe to find them and then drain them.

mke...I think that we all understand your freaking about the call-back, but I'll betcha it'll just be nuthin. I almost always have to have ultrasounds after mammos when they see even the slightest shadow. And they've always been easy to get through. Physically, they're as everyone says...the goo and the detector thing. Mine were always done by the radiologist (instead of a technician) and she would ramble on & on about what all she was seeing. I never gave a crap though because she never said the evil keywords (cancer/lesion/malignancy, etc.). I think there's always something to look at, ya know?

Hang in there, kiddo, and keep us posted!

Ok, this will be a walk in the park - you've all convinced me, a boob untrasound is nothing.  Usually it means nothing and I know that probably you are all right.

But you all know the fear.  I really don't want to burden any friends or family with this.  They think I'm a rock.  HA, salt is a rock, but let a little water trickle over it and it's gone.

Well a breast ultrasound is better than a mammogram, but this one led to a core biopsy.  "lesion on the chest wall"  and that glorified nail gun banging against my ribs.  I do not have a good feeling about this, I am not moving beyond.

Hugs mke!     Sorry for the core biopsy.  I had one  no fun.    Good luck hon.  Hopefully the "lesion on the chest wall"  will turn out ot be benign scar tissue.

Oh, mke, I'm so sorry you had to do "this" again.  Damn!  Like Lucy, I'm praying that is scar tissue.

Thanks for the replies.  I really would like to believe benign scar tissue, but is is 170 degrees away from the tumour of 10 years ago.

(BC in the other breast brought me here).

I'm so sorry, mke, that you are dealing with this uncertainty yet again. And yeah - I hate those damn 'nail guns', too. My MD always believes in three bangs - by the chest wall must have been a real bi#ch. Hope you're due for a benign report this time around.

Nail guns is such an imaginative description and so accurate!

My heart goes out to you, dear friend.  So do prayers for B9 results.
