I gotta secret....

I am not a sneaky person by nature. I am very up front and honest. But 6 months ago I ask my DH if I could get a dog/puppy a little one. He said he wasn't crazy about the idea, so I dropped it.
But since having cancer and moving beyond... I just can't deny my self much!
so, I have a line on a peekapoo/bichon/shitzu mix. Cute. Free. Just born...
ready in 8 weeks. I just haven't have the nerve to tell DH we are expecting!! LOL..better than retail therapy! Any suggestions on warming him up besides...you know what??

Enlist the aid of your boys! I've seen pictures of them and who could resist that look in the eyes of those two sweet boys. You hubby would never say 'no' to them.
-
I'd just say "you know what"....and lots of it!

I have no good ideas but I will be watching the answers. I would like another cat and my husband is that thrilled about that.
Good luck
-
put a little bow on the cutie when he gets home. How can he resist an adorable little puppy. You could always visit a few pet shops gently dropping hints you would really like a puppy.
I got a adorable puggle a few months ago, I already have two dogs that are rather large. Didn't need another one, but when I saw her I just fell in love! She sits with me in my recliner and it is heavenly!
-
OH fitz ....... Free? Can I get one? I was looking at silkies and they are 250 - 400 for a pup!!! That is the size we are looking for. Will pay for transporation!
-
At one time we had 5 cats and 2 dogs. People kept "finding" these wonderful kitties for me. I would bring one home, and within 24 hrs, the little guy or girl would have a name...and once named they never left the house nor was there a discussion about finding a home for the critter.
When our big lab/shep mix died a few years ago, I told my dh that we were going to the shelter the next day for a replacement because the one left behind was grieving so badly I just couldn't stand it!
Worked like a charm.
Don't know how your husband is, but I agree with the suggestion of visiting a pet shop, go to a dog show, or visit the animal shelter. What a great mix for a little dog. How could he possibly tell you no. LOL

Hmm, I'd say you know what and then some...
But, I have to agree that nobody would be able to say no to those boys.
Post pics when you get him

I think I'd break out the "you know what" ... and make it the "special whatever" he gets once a year on his birthday! lol During you can whisper, "Tell me we can get a puppy. Tell me we can get a puppy." He will hopefully be so "gone" that he will say "Yes yes!!" to anything!

I allowed my daughter to get a puppy 6 months after I was diagnosed. I felt like you only live one life and I was going to go for it. I had had excuses ("We can't have a dog because the house is already too much of a mess"). I am so happy we got a dog. A corgi. The whole family loves him. It is such a pleasure to pet him and watch his funny expressions.
You deserve a dog if you want one. also the exercise will increase your odds of beating the beast. I attribute the resolution of my borderline diabetes to walking the dog.

I loved reading all the answers to your post. Do WHATEVER you must do. LOL And, of course, include those adorable twins.
My Tasha is no longer with us. I think I told my dh that I saw her in the paper and that I wanted to get her. She was a pom. I went to pick her up (it was raining horrible) and the drive was about an hour away. My dd and I brought her home. He could help but love the little fur ball. We are GREAT animal lovers and now have four cats. Sometimes I think I want another baby (dog), but don't know if I have the energy AND sure gon't have the money for vet bills for another animal.
Do post pictures when you get your new baby.

LuAnne, I just love the pic of the baby in your Avatar. Is this the first one or the second one? So cute.

Janis,
I don't think you are being sneaky, just practical! I just know that DH will melt when he sees the new baby, especially when he sees your eyes light up. Tell him sooner, rather than later, to give him time to adjust.
The mix you describe is surely going to be a doll! My only concern would be that it's on the "larger" size of all those breeds, since you have three young boys who will delight in playing with the pup.
Be sure and post pics!
-
Oh Erica! I just read your response...you naughty girl, you!!
-
I'd just go out and get the dog and let the husband howl.
My response? I live here, too. You're overruled.

Tina, lmao. That really is the reality of the situation!! =0) I should just send an email!! LOL
Here is my new baby...two weeks old..
-
Just show DH that picture. It should warm him up but good.
Thanks for sharing.

OMG! That is the cutest puppy I have ever seen!

I can NOT get over how cute that puppy is!!!!!!!!!! Janis....it's a "no brainer". Just do it. lol
I did the same thing with my new puppy. At first my hubby was not happy. It also didn't help that whenever he held her she would pee on him!! lol It got so bad that she would actually seek him out..jump on his shoulder and pee!!!! lol She only did that to him, maybe she knew. Anyway, now they are inseparable...wouldn't be surprised if they ran off to Vegas together!!
lol

What a sweetie pie. How can ANYONE be upset with such an adorable baby.

Awwww!
So much cuteness in the Fitz household! First those twins, now this puppy!
-
That is the most adorable baby, baby puppy! I don't think any man could say no to that!
You are going to have a wonderful time living with that cute puppy. I agree with others here, surely your twins can help convince your husband.
I'm sure the next 6 weeks will feel like forever.)

This little dog is important to your recovery! Pull the "I've had cancer and I need someone special to make me feel better" routine. My toy fox terrier was so helpful to me when I felt tired and stressed.
