    Okay I think I am loosing my mind. I have pain at the base of my thumb and slight swelling off and on for some time, why is it that whenever I have pain I always think the worst?????????mets to thumb? I think I need therapy... for my brain.....

    I've been told that mets don't usually go past the knees or elbows.  They stay close to the trunk of the body.  Maybe you jammed your thumb or have the onset of lymphedema.

    I currently have ear mets, yes, a tiny little scab on my ear that won't heal, clearly it's mets! (Couldn't be dry skin...)

    I think it's part of the whole mess, and if we can at least laugh at ourselves (in addition to that sick what if feeling) that's probably the best we can do!

    Actually, sounds like you aggravated a tendon or nerve or something. Do you type, knit, crochet, etc - something where you do the same motion over and over?

    Stacey,

    I do have bone mets, but they are in the more common areas for bone mets: skull, ribs, spine, sacrum, pelvis, and femur. It would be VERY unusual for bone mets to show up in the thumb. I also have lymphedema, but have never really had any pain from it.

    I see that you are hormone positive. Are you taking a hormonal treatment? Arimidex has carpal tunnel syndrome and joint pain listed as side effects. I believe Tamoxifen can also be responsible.

    I was really embarrassed last month at the onc. I had told the nurse I had been having pain in my shoulder and arm.  As we talked, I realized the pain started at the same time my husband and sons bought me a hand-held video game. I had been tensing my arm so much that I caused it to hurt almost to the point of being unable to lift my arm! Maybe there is something like that causing your pain. I quit playing so many games and...VOILA!...no more pain! LOL

    Stacey--Anne has said it all.

    I have thumb mets too.It has progressed to the point where I can no longer easily (or at all, sometimes) open jars.

    Even WITH the opener gadget.

    Arthritis.

    The thing that kept me sane through the constant new pains from femara was the fact that mets like bones, not joints.

    If you notice, everything that hurts is actually a joint.

    You wont see a pain in the middle of your arm, or leg bone.

    I do have pain in my spine,(Although the spine is joints, not a long bone) but had it all through chemo and before.After tx, I "mentioned" it to my onc who immediately ordered a bone scan and PET.

    Arthritis."Degenerative activity".

    Pain at base of thumb is not unusual with an AI. My once says it is a form of carpel tunnel. It can extend to wrist bone. Unlikely met. Beth
