I was in People Magazine-but not for breast cancer.

Didn't you know I am a star?  Ok, not really. 

Here's what happened:  Our 3rd daughter was adopted from China.  One day I happened to be online and saw a little girl who looked like my daughter.  I put it on the back burner since I had no way to contact her or her parents.  Then about 8 months later (out of the blue) I received an email listing people who had adopted children from the same orphanage as we did.  This other little girl was on the list with contact info.  I sent the mom an email saying that our daughters look similar.  We began trading information and found out they had a lot of physical and personality traits in common.  However, her daughter is 5 years older than mine.  She sent us some pics and when we opened the envelope she looked so much like my daughter that we could not tell them apart.  Even my daughter thought they were pictures of her.  So....we did DNA testing and discovered that they are biological sisters!!!  People magazine found us and the rest is history.  People did a human interest story about Chinese adoptees who have found their birth sisters.  I think they put us in because the others in the article were all twins separated at birth and my daughter and her sister are so far apart in age so it gave another angle to the story.  In fact, guess what issue it was printed it?  The issue with Sheryl Crow on the front cover saying that she had breast cancer.  Also, the issue came out the week I had my very first chemo.

So that's my 15 minutes of fame.

I have nothing exciting to write about myself but I am VERY impressed with you, Felicia. I, too, am a Recycle Queen but you have me beat by a mile! 

I used to sing in coffee houses on campus and collect money in a hat (and sometimes candy bars!). This was back in the 70's.

I'm the pyro in Spring, Summer and Fall.  The family has a camp and I started burning the paper so we wouldnt have to lug it home to the trash.  It's been fun and the kids get a kick out of it.

Well, its my little cocker spaniel who is the star in our family.  She had a spot on Good Morning America last year on winterizing your dog--she was the only model who would actually walk in boots!! 

What a riot when the doorman rang the bell at 4:30 am and said "Good Morning America Limo here for Betsy!"  And the "Doggie  Greenroom" was a riot--truly a once in a lifetime experience for me!

Her second spot of "fame" was being in a piece in Parade Magazine.

And of course, the most wonderful thing Betsy did was find my breast cancer that did not show up on any mammos!!

As far as the boots go, its not the cold but the salt, especially in Manhattan, that burns their feet so badly.

Crime novels?  I am addicted to crime novels!!  Any hints on on your books?

Felicia, Last night I looked for a site on Costo, a disease of inflammation of cartilege, and I actually found one.  Internet is amazing.  I'm sure they have a site for compulsive recyclers.  I'll take a look tonight and let you know.
