Hi, Brenda. Yes, my mom is still on weekly chemo, although now yet a different combo. We're running out of options, so she's now on a retry of Taxol and Tykerb, although she's never had them together before. Between the two of us, seems like we're over at the SDCC every day (and sometimes twice a day, since I started rads next door to it this week). Good thing it's an easy drive from the house!
-
Ok ladies---have been off in lala land and not checking in for some strange reason---so just realized that the luncheon must be coming up soon---OK by me for Claim Jumpers on Jan 13th...
-
So far:
Starfish and Melia-Can't come. (You will be very missed)
Lisa #3, Nash, GuitarGlr are hopeful maybe's.
LisaSD, SoCal, Sylvia, Shirlann, Me will be there.
Did I get that right? If I missed you sorry. Please correct me. I can't seem to go back to another page with out losing this post.
-
Hi, Brenda:
Yes, it's time to see the pilot boyfriend. Hopefully it will not be rainy in FLA.
Stephanie - so bummed that the week you finally make it, I can't!
Maybe next time if I'm not laid out from surgery.
GuitarGrl - what surgery are you having?
-
Hi - I have this on my calendar to join you and meet all of you - especially since you so graciously moved it farther north so I could come!!
-
PS - Too bad you girls will be missing my new early-Mia-Farrow hair-do!
Have a great time.
-
Sue-That is great you can join us. Can't wait to meet you.
-
Hi, I live in San Marcos...
DX Oct 27th of 07' at 6 months pregnant. I will deliver this Friday at 6 weeks early. Been doing chemo since Nov 13th. All is good and baby is very healthy.
Maybe I could join you sometime?
Cheers, Jodi
-
Jodi, please DO join us. This group of women is very warm and welcoming, and we would love to widen the circle to include you, and of course, your new baby. Best of luck with the birth, and enjoy your new treasure. Just keep an eye on this thread. We try to meet monthly, and two of us are from North County.
Melia

Hi, Jodi--Good luck on Friday!
-
Starfish - I'm having a lumpectomy & SNB. According to the nurse I saw yesterday for preop, as long as the nodes are clear, they only take 3 and I won't need a drain. For obvious reasons, I'm hoping for clear!
One thing she told me I didn't know was that besides peeing blue from the blue dye, those of us with light complexions sometimes also look blue - like Smurfs she said. Maybe I'll have to change my name to Smurfette?? -
Had my last chemo yesterday and neulasta shot today. I'm hoping to be in high enough spirits to be there on Sunday
Looking forward to possibly meeting some newbies, too!
-
Well, I lost $40!!! So I quit gambling and decided to eat instead. That did me a lot of good!
Anyway, so it is the 13th at the Claimjumpers?
I WILL BE THERE!
Hugs, Shirlann -
Jodi-Hi there. Welcome to the San Diego Lunch Bunch. We would love for you to join us when you are ready. Congratulations on the new baby this week. Sorry you had to go to chemo while pregnant. I can't even image. Did you go to the San Diego Cancer Center in Vista for your treatments?
Shirlann-Eating is more fun than gambling anyway. 1:00 at Claim Jumpers in Carlsbad.
Nash-How is your mom doing this week?
Melia-I think we have 6 North County girls now.
Lisa#3-Hope your up for it on Sunday.
GuitarGlr-Starfish came to lunch hiding a drain under her shirt one time. I could not believe it. If you feel up to it we would love to have you but if not maybe next time.
O.K. ladies I checked the Chargers schedule for Sunday. I went to the NFL site and it said they were playing at 1:00 but I don't know if that is 1:00 Indi time or ours. I personally would love to watch the game but I would rather be with you all. How does everyone else feel about it?
-
I believe the 1 pm kickoff is EST, b/c my DH said something about the game being at 10 am, as he was making his case for why he was going to skip church this Sunday morning.
Thanks for asking about my mom--she's about the same--very weak. Can't get any air in her poor lungs. I'm taking her to a thoracic surgeon tomorrow to discuss her breathing issues.
-
Hi... the game is on at 10:00 because we are playing in Indy at 1:00. I'm not sure what channel it's on....
I am with Dr. Frakes at Pacific Oncology in Encinitas. I think she also has a place in Vista, but I love the Encinitas office and staff. The nurses are SO wonderful there.
Actually, being pregnant and diagnosed has kind of been a blessing. Talk about something to look forward to! She has been our little inspirational bundle. It hasn't been that difficult... I thought it would be so awful, but it's been ok. Don't get me wrong, chemo makes me feel yucky and all, but having that little squirmy in my tummy makes it ok to just sit around ALL day long and wait for the wiggles.
Well, I'm off to the onc tomorrow for blood counts and 'check-up'. I go EVERY week because they can't give me Neulasta during pregnancy. Saves a bundle of $$$.
Sorry for rambling...
Cheers, Jodi
-
Don't worry GuitarGRl - I'm very pale and I didn't turn Smurfette!
Jodi, we can't wait to hear your good news!
Hey all, my lat flap surgery was moved up from 2/21 to 2/15. I found out accidentally today when I called to ask about my pre-op appointment (which, to my knowledge, had still not been scheduled!). Glad they made it sooner - but it would have been nice if they had called me to check if the date was ok with me - don'tcha think?! Good thing I called - I may have entirely missed my surgery day!!!
-
Starfish-I can't believe you are having a flap surgery. You have no flap anywhere on your tiny body girl. Good thing you called the doctor though.
I think a reservation for 10 should be good. I will call later and see if they even take reservations there. I am sure they are pretty busy on Sunday afternoons.

I'm not a football fan, but if it was the Padres in a league championship game, I'd only go to the restaurant if they had a TV on ... but then again, nobody ever told me I had the right priorities ...
Susan
50 days till spring training! -
I made the reservation for 1:00 for 8-10 people under Brenda. See you there.
-
Thanks, Brenda! I should be able to be there--my mom seems to have stabilized for now.
-
Me too, Brenda -
I'll be going down there for the day (no Sandieego weekend this time
but I'll survive.) So if the reservations aren't made - or if you can add one more, I'll be there.
Looking SO forward to it!
-
Kaye-Of course there is room for you. So glad you can join us.
Nash-Good news about your mom. That is great.
-
Hi everybody - I'm still planning on being there, but my visit with you is going to be cut short - I just found out yesterday my nephew who is in the Air Force and stationed in Washington D.C. is home for a surprise visit (he wasn't able to make it home for Christmas - no leave), so big family barbeque has been planned for Sunday afternoon. I haven't seen him in two years - last year he was only home for a couple of days and I was deathly ill from chemo. What a difference a year makes!
We're so proud of him - he has been serving in the Honor Guard for the last two years. (Being selected is actually quite an honor in itself!)
But I should be able to spend an hour and enjoy a glass of iced tea with all of you. I'm looking forward to it.
-
Oh Damn!!! I have 15 people coming over to my house for brunch, the Chargers made the playoffs!!!
ARGHHHHHHHHHH
Can't make it, my dear sisters, but I will never miss another date!
Promise, Shirlann
-
Sue-Can't wait to meet you.
Shirlann-I am going to miss you woman. Enjoy your brunch.
-
Sue - even a short time will be a good time to have you with us! We can do a lot of getting to know you in an hour. How wonderful that your nephew gets a leave to come home and you are feeling good!
Nash - it is finally going to happen. We are going to have you at a brunch. I can't believe it - you have been an honorary member all through chemo and now we really get to meet. So glad your mom is stable for now.
Kaye! You are coming! Yipee! I hadn't heard anything from you so I was afraid we weren't going to see you - even though we're meeting way up north. Sorry you don't get a luxury weekend out of it, but maybe every other month, hey?
Lini - are you coming?
Shirlann, certainly going to miss you and Melia - two of our foundation group.
Brenda - thanks for making our reservation. Sounds like it'll be a good bunch of us - regulars and newbies. I've never been to a Claimjumpers - all I hear is that they have HUGE servings. I'll need some consultations on the menu.
Is this near the Carlsbad Outlet place? This is really not my neck of the woods so I want to take advantage of being up there. Although I did drive right by on Sunday evening (in the pouring rain) and Monday enroute to my plastic surgeon and back.
Lisa/Starfish - have a great time in FL with your sweetie!
Jodi - can't wait to hear about your dear miracle baby girl born today! As far as I'm concerned you just bring her right along anytime - I just love to smell babies heads!
Lisa#3 - I wanna hug the livin' daylights out of you for being done, completely DONE with this extra re-do of chemo. So, uhm, be prepared.
Love you guys!
Lisa
-
LisaSDCA-It is not far from the outlets. See you tomorrow.
-
Hi all...Hope there will be room for 1 more--I mentioned to my daughter about the luncheon on Sunday and she said she would like to come too! For those of you who don't know---she is a BC survivor too!
Hope an extra person won't upset the waitress Brenda....---see you at 1 at Claim Jumpers...hugs,Sylvia
-
Sylvia-I am so glad your daughter decided to join us. I know you wanted her to. Of course there is room. I made the reservation for 10 people so we should be fine.
