Marin I want to hear more about laser removal in the brazilian area.  Did it hurt? how much did it cost?

Beth....If you've waxed before, not to mention gotten tattoos, the laser Brazilian is actually milder than those processes, at least it was for me. The final result is a very smooth area, although I do still need to run a straight-edge over it for "special occasions." The hair, if it still grows in at all, is very soft and light. But, for the most part, it's all gone and feels absolutely fabulous!!! I'll just add that it has a number of advantages and it gets no complaints whatsoever, if ya know what i mean?

The process takes at laest 6 or so visits that need to be spaced about 10 weeks apart so that each treatment zaps hair that is growing during that particular cycle. For obvious reasons, we who have had cancer baldness understand this logic! For each treatment, you need to have shaved the area very closely. They will give you a tiny cloth bikini thing to wear if you want, but I just thought that was silly. Either way, the first step is to put ice packs on the area to be lasered in order to reduce the pain. You can take tylenol beforehand too, if you're very pain-sensitive. Then they just run the laser across the surface and it literally zaps the hair right out of its follicles. The smell of burning is something you should be prepared for, but once you get used to it, its okay. Some areas are more sensitive than others (like the crease between your leg & crotch), so you just hold your breath and distract yourself. Each treatment takes about a half-hour and then you're done. You can apply benadryl cream or they might give you something, but I didn't need anything and just went on with my life until the next treatment. As for expense, I actually can't remember! It was a package deal for six treatments and I think it was slightly over $1,000.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

I would like to recommend a mascara I just found.

Since my lashes are just growing in (for the third time) I found one that makes them look a mile long.

Revlon 3D Extreme.

It has a great non clumping brush.

I also discovered that Revlon makes its own version of photofinish called Age Defying Instant Firming Face Primer

It is really nice under foundation. 

I do my eyebrows and brazilian with poetic waxing..Tina..the trick is the swipe the wax on in a thick layer - about as thick as a banana peel - I wasn't doing that and it killed but then I went to Bliss Spa in NYC right before my wedding and the lady told me that was the trick.  Poetic Wax is the only wax that doesn't bruise me...the lady at the spa was so impressed I do my own brazilian waxing..she gave me a huge bag of free wax to tuck into my purse!

Matt's truck wouldn't start this morning, and my mom has our other car cause hers is in the shop-- so I have to pick him up from work later.

Not that I'm expecting to go into the office and see his coworkers, but I definitely need to look hot later when I go get him.

He's always tells me stories about his coworkers and the girls from accounting are his lunch buddies (good thing I'm seriously overconfident and would never waste my air on being jealous) but that still means I have to look hot when I go get him later...

you guys are totally motivating me to do it, but I am sooo scared.  I never had a lot of hair ever in life.  Like-- down there I literally always resembled a 13 year old girl.  I know-- it's silly.  So I always shave it all, b/c it just looks better. and thats how the boy likes it, so fine.  So my question is, if you don't have a lot of hair in that brazillian hard to reach area, if I walk into a salon will they even do it?  Am I supposed to let it grow? Cause that would take like 2 months for me. 

I shave my legs once every 3 weeks-- I really don't have a lot of hair, but I REALLY want that hair down--way down there to not exist.

If someone could motivate me in the next two weeks I'd be really excited, b/c we're going to FL on the 25th, and we have a jacuzzi in the middle of the hotel room.

AND NO, it's not one of those cheesy rooms with a jacuzzi, its actually in a suite at a reputable hotel.  I'd feel better if I could get rid of the hair myself, but I am so scared.

so tell me again which product should I get, and what is the technique?

The lady at the salon I go to always says it needs to be at least a 1/4 inch for the wax to have something to adhere to. I go so infrequently so I need to trim ahead of time! I'd like to do what Marin did and permantely delete it for good---except my chin hairs are growing in so exhuberantly that I really should do that first....I mean more people see my chin!

Ah, did anyone mention a good sunscreen? I don't leave the  house without Clinique City Block Sheer 25 on my face and neck. It makes a great makeup base and they say sunscreen is the single best thing to stay young looking!

Seriously, Brazilian takes off everything front to back while the bikini basically takes off anything that might show in a bikini bottom plus some extra. 

brazilian is from your ass crack all the way to the front... in basic terms. Bikini wax is the front, and the sides, and can leacve a landing strip if preferred.

Marin- I am totally doing something about my whiteness.  For my birthday my bro and SIL gave me a $300 gift certificate to maximus spa (I know, BEYOND generous) so first, five days before we leave I am having my first hot stone massage.  Then the next day I'm going in for a full body exfoliation, and a hand applied tan.  Then they will give me stuff to touch up for the two days before the trip.

So I'm set.  I ordered some really cute skirts and tops for the trip.

Lord knows I need to get my mojo back, so I'm hoping this is just what we need.  We're going there for his little sisters med school ceremony- so his mom will be on the plane with us, and in the same hotel, but we booked her room on the other end of the hotel...tee hee.

Marin..I use Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer - it's good but I can't remember the price   Probably not inexpensive...it's not tan/bronze either...I get the light or medium depending on the season..

Beth..I really really really like poetic wax from Bliss is Sephora...heat it in a pot with 1-2 inches on water (the wax is in a little tub and I just plop the tub in)  Take advil before!  It takes about 1/2 hour to heat on low...then take it off when it looks like honey...let it cool 1-2 minutes..this kit has a cleanser you swipe on first..and then an oil..just a little so the wax doesn't hurt.  Put wax on thick in sections and pull up in opposite direction..it doesn't use paper strips - you can just pull up the wax...I never bruise from this and I have sensitive skin and bruise from other waxes.  It won't be bad if you have no real growth - like you said - it's worse when the hair is longer trust me....I wish I could show you with a fake demonstration...I'll post the link so you can see the kit...
