Hello everyone. I am writing on behalf of my Dad. I live in Oz and my mum has 2nd stage breastcancer. Both parents live in the UK and my Dad is the sole carer at the moment for my mum who is having a really rough time. He used to work in excess of 50 hours a week and is now struggling to do 30. Is he entitled to any benefit payments? He is too proud to ask so I am trying to find out on his behalf but its difficult being 11,000 miles away! have tried the Govt websites but they send me round in circles.

    Cheers

Well, I do believe they have help for this situation in the UK.  However, as you are finding out, it is easy to brush you off over the phone.

You may need to go over and get the ball rolling.

    Gentle hugs, Shirlann

Hi I live in the UK ...Although I do work I would be entitled to 30gbp a week in disability because of the illness (I haven't had time to apply yet)...your mum should be entitled to this as well as sickpay....and then incapacity benefil which in turn would entitle your dad to carers allowance... I also got a 400gbp grant from macmillan nurses...your mum must enquire about this..it would be a welcome to them to help your parents out.She will have to ask at the hospital and then get a form signed by her GP. I hope you check back...sorry I didnt see this sooner
