Has anyone signed up for the new radiation trials in Canada there is a new trial in which they are looking for people for quicker radiation therepies. I think it's a great idea, I mean if I'm going to be in pain and have the sking shedding and stuff I'd like to get it overwith as quickly as possible.  I have one chemo to go then wait a month then radiation and I'd like to be in one of the trials. What do you all think of it?

Hey I'm getting rads in surrey. I was told I can do them in 1/2 the normal time (15 sessions instead of 33) by my Rad Onc. She didn't mention this was part of a trial, but It can be done!

I had 16 sessions which I finished April of 2006 at Credit Valley so I know it goes back that far.   From what I read, it's a Canadian thing.  I know that the radiologist said I was a good candidate for it which made me think there must be some sort of criteria (which he may have told me but I can't remember).  I was 1C, 1.3mm, no nodes, ER+, lumptectomy.  I didn't do chemo and started Arimadex right after surgery.

I was very comfortable agreeing to it.  He told me all about rads and boosters and how they did it.  I did get a bit tender and "cooked" a bit after it was over but a week later I was all healed.  They really do watch you for skin damage and give you all sorts of suggestions as to care.  I don't know whether it was better or worse than the long course. But the good thing was that it was over a lot quicker!
