Before Chemo and during I never had a problem. Now it hurts! It feels like I.m getting a rug burn down there. We have used just about all the lubricants out there. Does anyone have any answers or help?
May God Bless

It could be the lubricants you're using. Try something natural, paraben free. OH by Emerita might work for you and I've used Venus which is made in Germany (I'm not sure where or when I got it) and it is more oily in texture. Or you could use baby oil (Burt's Bees is good) or coconut oil (try Spectrum brand). When I was dried up my gyne recommended daily use of pure vitamin E oil to keep things moist and it worked. Good luck!

Its the lack of estrogen. You probably have atrophy. I would discuss with my doctor something like the Estring, Vagifem or a cream low in estrogen. It is a major quality of life issue for many of us.

its a common problem for us here. i felt the same way for a while. it eventually got better, a little at a time. i used the standard KY. i found if i used an off brand, like equate, or something similar, it burned alot. try different lubes and the vit. E. like jaybird suggested.

Replens. It works wonders. Use it regulary. We almost have to retrain that area again. Part of the pain is dryness.

ANother good product discussed one night in the chat room - is a new product made by KY -- its called KY Liquid Beads ---- I found this product to be a good one - that will lasts for days and also doesn't seem to be as messy as some women say that Replens is ...
You can buy this product at WalMart ---

Sue
There is a good thread on the boards that has a lot of good information from these girls about this problem most of us face.
The thread is (I want my mojo back) I'm sure you will find it helpful also.

I found the KY liquid beads to be a bit messy. The vitamin E oil worked for me, though...

If you want to try the Liqui-beads, you can get a free coupon here:

Sue, I would ask your onc about estrogen creams. Since you are ER/PR neg, you may be a candidate. My onc says no way, so we use KY. The other question I have for you is how far out of chemo are you? I found post chemo it was incredibly painful (like unbearably so), but a coulple months out the pain subsided and now it is just dealing with dryness, which seems manageable with the KY.
My Gyn told me to use olive oil, but frankly that seems too messy to me. The KY works and is water based and keeps the sheets cleaner that oil.

I started having the dryness a couple months after my complete (ovaries, uterus, cervix, all of it) hysterectomy and starting Arimides 2 weeks after the surgery.
My gyn put me on Vagifem (with my oncologist's blessing). It's a small pill that you insert with an applicator. I use it two to three times a week. It works, and no burning. I was having burning with astroglide and ky.
Good luck!

Oops, I meant peanut oil ... my Gyn told me to use peanut oil (not olive oil).
