    Hey “No-Recon” Vets,
I’ve started a conversation called “Lessons I’ve learned in CancerLand” under the Breast Reconstruction heading.  Most of you have “packed your bags” and put this behind you, but for those of you still checking in, I know you have words of wisdom to share.  Erica, Footsox, caaclark, SusaninSF, Riverwoman, etc, etc...join in to add your lessons learned!

There's lots I don't know about cancer.  I also learned I can live without a breast and boy oh boy, life is sweet!

I'm still learning but...  one thing I have learned so far, it's ok to do things on the fly.  I used to plan every little thing, had my "little check list" and had a back up plan, just in case.  Tongue out

I enjoy life and my family so much more.  Of course, my family sometimes wonders if I'm a "pod person" Laughing (Invasion of the Body Snatchers).

    ..... and don't look back!!

There is no value in "what ifs" and " should haves".

It may sound strange but, in many ways, having cancer was a gift since it didn't kill me but taught me to appreciate life and health. When I meet other cancer survivors I really believe that I see their zest for life and recognize it before they even tell me they had cancer.
