Well, the morning after Christmas. Bleary eyed, I stumble to the kitchen and crank up the Mr. Coffee, hop in the shower and come back to.....the hottest, clearest pot of plain water you ever saw. I forgot to put coffee in the filter.

-
I saw a red fox sauntering through my yard yesterday morning so when I heard one of the cats meowing at the door late last night, I thought I'd best get up and let her in. Cats don't understand the concept of gratitude.
-
I think cats think they own us. Your service I'm sure was appreciated. LOL
-
Ellen had a fox on her show the other day, along with other "wild" animals. It was the most adorable little thing, but the animal expert accompanying it claimed that it's one of the most ferocious fighters in the wild.
Cats have no capacity for gratitude. They have a HUGE sense of entitlement!

I think I see a show shaping up here.....'Cats and their sense of Entitlement'.

-
I am having my septic tank cleaned out right now. Who does this for a living? Yuck!
-
Nobody that I would want to invite for dinner! ROFL!
-
yes,Always Hope, cats KNOW they own us, I have one huge 14 lb cat. He came from Wisconsin with his crock pot, lol. He is very cuddly when I'm sick and that is a blessing.

But thank goodness someone does do that job. The alternative is just too yucky for words.
My dear Peja-a quirky cat found in the dumpster behind my school over 5 years ago disappeared a year ago. She never went outside...would run the other way when someone came to the door...a schizo cat... but the door wasn't closed tightly and the wind must have blown it open...she never returned. We looked everywhere for her...put up flyers...talked to neighbors. We have coyotes in the fields...so I'm afraid she was some Coyote's dinner. So, I guess her curiosity did kill the cat. ;-(
I made coffee a good hour ago and have forgotten to pour myself a cup. Caffeine is calling.

My cat, Miss Gabby got totally stoned on her catnip toys, tore her stocking to shreds and ruined Christmas for all. I hated that the grandkids had to see her like that.
Know of any good Re-Habs?

What a great thead!!!...
The septic tank thing?....YUCK!!!!! My daughter lives in the country and in turn has a septic tank...this past summer it backed up and flooded their yard....she and the kids came to stay a few days as the odor was AWFUL!!!!!!
They had the septic guy out and he informed her that she uses WAY TOO much Tide powered laundry soap....first Ive heard this, but guess its possible.....so beware of powdered laundry soaps!!!!!
On the other hand I cant imagine the aftermath of not using ENOUGH laundry soap as my daughter has 3 kids....ages 9, 4, 2......does tons of laundry per day so has changed to liquid soaps in hopes that he is right...

I totally forgot this, but as kids, we were absolutely fascinated by septic tanks and whenever we or a neighbor was having it cleaned, all of the neighborhood kids would hang around and peer terrifyingly into it, imagining all sorts of horrors. It was deliciously scary and so much fun to tease the scaredy cats that they will surely fall in and never make it out! Aren't kids cruel???!
My cat, Sasha, has decided that obsessively jumping smack into the middle of my Christmas tree is of the utmost fun! I now have a rather large gaping bald spot in the center and, needless to say, all of the ornaments are clustered in crazy patterns elsewhere on the tree (or being batted around the house by both my cats!)!

I should tell the story of my last camping vacation with DH and our young children....beside the septic field which was drained every couple of days. I believe I recall threatening a divorce if we ever camped together again!
Now...for a sure fire cure to those Holiday Blues...
3 shots Van Gogh Espresso Vodka
1 shot Starbucks Coffee Liquour
1 shot fresh brewed espresso
Shake vigorously
Serve in chilled martini glass (or two, depending on size of glass)

I had a huge black cat when I was a kid. His name was Abner. He was the only cat I ever liked and he hated everyone but me. My mom worked late at the hospital so she would bring home the day old baby formula for the cat. He was almost as big as our beagle and none of him was fat.
Siamese cats give me the creeps. My uncle had a couple once that would just sit on the stairs and stare at you all day long. It was like they were planning to kill you or something. Once I was at a friends house and I dropped my pencil from the kitchen table. When I put my head down there to get it I was attacked by 2 siamese cats. They scratched the crap out of my head.
I prefer big dogs.
-
Yes...big dogs! I'm a fan... Here's my boy (and me, before my hair fell out from chemo -- I buzzed it before the chemo got it).

-
OH MY! He's huge!!!!! Look at the size of his head.
-
Oh my AlwaysHope, don't get me going on my baby dogs... I could brag for hours
.
And the girl dog...

-
Twink are they bull mastiffs? My neighbor has one and it looks like a hippo walking around. It is huge and grace is not how I would describe it's walk. I will have to post a picture of my dog from my other computer. I don't have pictures on this one.
-
What great dogs! I have a cat, Oz, that I adopted about ten months ago. He's almost 3 and has to be the most spoiled animal on the planet. We're having a little test of wills right now...I'm on vacation for the holidays, and he still wants me to get up at 5 a.m. So far, I'm winning...he tried to wake me at 4:30, but he backed off at my stern voice. I got up at 7...woohoo!
I saw a quote somewhere...so true: "Dogs have masters; cats have staff."
What a fun thread...pets and septic tanks. There's a song in there somewhere...:-)

Yup, throw in a train whistle and I think its a country and western hit! Trains, cats, and septic tanks..... do we need a gun rack too?!
-
Hate to have to buy dog food for him. Bet he gets dog treats, too. Think about giving him his bath. It could turn out the other way around.
-
We've got to fit momma and jail in there for this to have all the makins' of a country song, don't we?
Mmmhmm...they're bullmastiffs. Yep, they eat plenty. They're the most lovable creatures though. They follow cats' orders to a Tee...we have three.
-
Twink..I'm CRAZY about your dogs! How Beautiful! I love dogs. I have an old, cranky, deaf small dog. She's 14 years old. I love her but she acts like a baby now and prefers to pee in the house. My kids grew up with her. She takes care of our kittens when we have them...usually have several every year, but the cats live outside..dh won't allow them inside and my dog barely gets to stay in the house cuz of my dh who doesn't like indoor pets.

My dh fell in the septic hole in their yard when he was a kid.
But..our neighbor...when they were building their house the plumbing people dug the hole outside and didn't put anything around it. She walked out there when it was dark. She fell in and it took her hours to climb out of it. She is very strong. Don't like big holes dug in yards...
-
Ewww...imagine if the septic hole was in use? Oh, never mind...
Thanks for the laugh ravdeb...I kinda like referring to you as fluffy though

-
You can call me Fluffy, you can call me ravdeb...just don't call me late for dinner!!!!!
-
Dinner? What are we having tonight? This cold, foggy, rainy day calls for beef stew, chili, I know...baked potato soup. Perfect.
-
Twink, Your doggies are adorable. Big Ole lovable puppies. One of my friends has one and she loves her to pieces and her pup is the most gentle big baby.
We have revolving dogs in our family. It's great. All together we have five. Plus a ranch. So I usually have one or two at a time but Christmas they were all here with respective kids of course. You all should have seen their faces mushed up to the door as we ate our dinner. Priceless.
-
Someone gave me a great potato soup recipe that you make with frozen hash browns. I tried it once and it was pretty good. Potota soup sounds perfect for a day like today.
-
One of my daughers friends had a female bullmastif when they were growing up.....I could tell the second I walked in the door from work that she had been for a visit......BMD is correct that dog took up ALOT of room when she walked and it definately wasnt the most graceful thing Ive ever seen!!!! and the slobber!!!! Twink, do yours slobber like that??? this dog had MAJOR issues with it and the smell was awful!!!!!
The septic tank thing reminded me of a story my dad told us...he and his brother and some friends were at the local town fair but had gotten bored so decided to make thier own fun...back then they had outhouses (YUK!!!) Since it was dark he and his buddies decided to move the outhouse behind the hole and wait for this one kid to come us it.......Im sure you ladies can imagine the rest of the story!!!! Only it wasnt thier teenage buddy that came along and before they could stop him my grandfather took the plunge!!!!!
Dad said that it is the only whippen he can ever remember from his dad and it was a doozy!!!!!
Sahalie, I hope you took a pic of those faces against the window!!!! How precious....

Side note on septic tank guys . . .
Living on a ranch they can be your best friend when it comes to two houses with septic tanks when clogs occur. What job they have.
We usually have ours cleaned once a year. Ugh. The guy is always happy and has a smile on his face.
