Hi
I am writing this in the hope someone has had the same thing happen. Have invasive ductal cell low grade stage 1 .Lumpectomy 10/29/07,negative lumph node. Two weeks after developed red swollen rash on breast . This is not on or close to incision sites. Had oral antibiotics also IV antibiotics, then steroid cream, now trying anti-fungal. Surgeon states"never seen this before" Could it be IBC?? Any advise is appreciated.

Hi Bcr
Just wondering if you had radiation therapy.....I have read that one of the symptoms of radiation recall can be a rash. Or hopefully you may be reacting to the medication. You strill need to rule out IBC though....

I have not started any treatments ,just surgery thus far. I am now using an anti-fungal cream. I am just so worried a week seems like forever...
-
I can understand your concern, though it does sound like it might be related to radiation, if you are currently undergoing rads. Why not ask your oncologist to take a tissue scraping of the red area and have it analyzed?
-
Thank you for the advice.
I probably would not be so scared if i had already started radiation tx. I have not ,only had surgery. I am hopeful the MRI will show nothing new and maybe this is just a fluke of some sort.

Hi bcr16,
On Dec 5th I had my second lumpectomy, and I also had a rash on the upper part right above my nipple. When my surgeon did my 2nd surgery he went ahead and did a biospy on it, just incase it was cancerous. It was not cancer, it had cystic properties in it and it was inflammed. So please don't panic but you need to keep a check on it. I hope this helps, good luck and Happy Holidays.
