My brother's killer goes free...

Oh Donna, I am so sorry, but God will meet him someday. And it won't be pretty.
Small comfort right now, but justice has a way of being done.
God bless you, honey, Shirlann

TraciWalters,
Oh my.....I hope that my post did not upset you. I wrote it because I sometimes get strong hunches in my own life that are different than what action i want to take and i find it best to really listen and explore what i am feeling or sensing to see which way is the right thing to do. Sometimes our own intuition is "smarter" in some important way than what we want to do emotionally. It seemed that Donna had a strong sense about her parents ability to handle more pain, and i was just noting that.
Tracey, I hope that helps some. So sorry i gave you chills and made you have tears. Hugs to you!

Ilene - My heart goes out to you. Losing a twin must be horrible under any circumstances, but to a drunk driver...how awful and unjust! I'm so sorry.
Marin, Celia, Gina, Jaybird, Ginger, Beesie, Shirley, Erica, Traci, Shirlann (if I left anyone out, please forgive me - it's NOT intentional!): Thanks to ALL of you for being angry right along with me and my family - it's amazing how you all can appreciate and empathize with the mixed emotions we are experiencing. Today we were in the car all day driving on the way to Phoenix (currently stopped for the night in El Paso) and my Mom and I had quite a long discussion after I took the wheel and Dad napped in the backseat this afternoon. In short, I don't think she's capable of moving on without further action of some sort. I practically begged her to start looking for peace, rather than vengeance. She's not there, and it's not her style, especially when it comes to her children.
As much as it hurts to imagine diving into what will likely be an involved project, I feel I owe it to my mother to help her learn what she needs to learn about what happened. She wants to see all the reports, evidence, forensics, lab reports, etc., (My mom didn't even graduate from HS, and she is one of the most intelligent, well-read women I have ever met!)
I like the idea of forwarding the story to every media outlet (Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions!) to see if I can get help. I will do that, but I will also start contacting some attorneys in Atlanta for advice on how to proceed.
You all are so awesome and have provided so much support to me, and by extension, to my parents. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
Cheers,
-
Donna, what a strong woman your mother is! I am so glad that you were able to clearly determine what she wanted to do about the situation. I wish you and your parents good luck in the pursuit of a bit of justice for your brother.
hugs,

Justice is truly blind, isn't it Donna? It's amazing how criminals walk. My father was murdered 11 years ago, and his murder is unsolved, and his killer walks still.
Please know that you and your family are in my prayers during this most trying of times.

Hey Celia....
It was good chills that you gave me not bad ones. What you said just seemed so...I don't know, just a real nice way of expressing a thought. : )
djd, I really don't blame your mom. I would support her in her efforts. If by some chance, she finds something that was overlooked, then justice may be done.
My sister was here for Christmas from Dallas. She lives in Cedar Hill. She has a house in Hudson that just went vacant and I am seriously thinking about moving to Dallas and going to work for her. I sure do miss the Wranglers and I'm ready for a new everything in addition to the New Year.
If I get there, I'll look you up!!
GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!
Hugs, Traci

Donna, my DH got me hooked on a new show tonight... Autopsy, on HBO. The ME that the show uses is supposed to be amazing. I think he reviewed the remains of Drew Peterson's first wife recently. Anyway, people who need answers write to him (via HBO I suppose) and he seems to do a very through job. Maybe that would be an avenue for you. My DH and I are private investigators and he does primarily criminal defense work (sometimes tough for a retired police officer!) but he may have some suggestions of avenues you could take. He is AMAZING and I don't just think that b/c I am married to him! I know there is probably a ton of paperwork, but I am sure that he would review the case and see if there is anything that sticks out. You (collectively speaking) have to remember that the police only collect evidence that they want to. They want to close a case, not solve it. It's insane. There ARE a lot of people in jail who shouldn't be and it works the opposite way too. If at some point you would like to have Bill review the case, PM me and I will give you our contact info. xoxo
