Tryingtoshine -- Many women end up waiting a period of time between suspicion and surgery.  With a 3rd biopsy scheduled, it sounds like your diagnosis of BC isn't clear.  I saw my surgeon Dec 1st last year, had a mammogram, U/S, needle biopsy, incisional biopsy and MRI all before I received my diagnosis on January 18th.  Better to be certain about what you're dealing with than jump right into surgery.  Good luck to you.

Tryingtoshine- sometimes time is of the essence, sometimes not. If you've been seeing doctors and getting things arranged, the weeks between diagnosis and biopsy and surgery (if needed) are probably ok. BC can take years to grow enough to be seen.

It was two months from the first mammogram to surgery for me, with multiple mammos, 2 biopsies, and an MRI in there. My surgeon is of the measure twice, cut once school - which is a good thing. No sense in doing more or less than absolutely necessary. Your doctors probably want to make certain of everything - diagnosis is key.

Take a friend or family member with you to the appointment and ask the doctor what's going on. A good doctor will talk and explain reasoning.  For example, my MRI had to be timed to my cycle, then they had to do an ultrasound and u/s-guided biopsy when they saw something there. That added a good 2 weeks to the timeline.

    Please take care of yourself.

Pam, your saga sounds alot like mine. My first mammo was 10/23. After 3 ultrasounds, a mri, several mammos, and 2 biopsies I am scheduled for surgery this Friday 12/21. The waiting is the hardest!!!( so far )

Hi sister, it took my bunch of jackasses 3 months of end to end tests to FINALLY do a biopsy, which I had asked for 2 years earlier.

If you get too frustrated and your insurance will let you, go somewhere else.

I get so mad sometimes, the providers seem so cold.

    Gentle hugs, Shirlann
