Anybody have neuropathy in hands and feet that have gotten worse over a year after treatment is over?  I finished CHemo  (TAC) in July of 2006.  Lately Seems like my neuropathy is getting more frequent and worse over the past two weeks?  I don't think it has anything to do with the climate.  I am perplexed about this.

This conversation scares me but it's interesting as well. I've only been out of chemo now since Nov. 9th. but my legs are always in pain especially the left side and my fingers I notice get really bad when I they get cold.  Feet the needles and pins come and go.  I am happy you posted this because when I see my Dr. I'm going to find out about some sort of therepy for it.  The funny part is my typing takes so long now because I'm always fixing my typos, it's so irritating. But there has to be a way to get rid of this somehow. I hope. Pearl

I thank you ladies for your comments.  I get occasional numbness in my fingers (especially my ringfinger and pinky) that radiate up to my elbows.  Kinda like my hands are going to sleep.  My feet burn and have that prickley sensation.  I was given neurontin (gabepentin) for those symptome when I was on chemo, but my doctors wanted me to wean off the neruontin as much as I could so I stopped taking it.

Pam that is awful about your having to get disability.  Do you think your neuropathy is still worsening or have you hit the worst of it?  I was also curious if I was turning into a diabetic or something but I have none of the other symptoms and my labs have been fine.

Pippy I have  read from a lot of other posters on the messageboard that chemo can cause you to get arthritis sooner if your body is was susceptible to getting it.   I would have your doctor run some Rheumatoid Arthritis factor studies to see if you are developing arthritis.  However, I will tell you I have days when I am stiff and hard to move around.  And Sometimes I sit for awhile and it is hard to get up again.

Pearl, I am not sure there is a lot of therapy for neuropathy. I know there is for Lymphadema if you have had surgery with lymph node removal.  I think Nerve damage is hard to repair and takes a lot of time.  If you find out otherwise from your doctor, I would be interested in hearing what they told you.

    Take care and thanks again
