WELCOME TO THE WAGON CIRCLE
Comments

Hi, I just found this page - thanks to all involved. I just turned 50 this week. I am 7 years past diagnosis (cancer free) and I am up tonite scaring myself to death about mets.. . . . had to have an MRI today because of a problem with vertigo. I just want to move on from this - I am tired. My mom died at 49 from BC, my girlfriend died after 7 years of fighting. I thought my 50 birthday and 7 years would bring me some freedom instead . . . . . . . . how do you all deal with the ongoing fear? I am tired of giving this disease any more time than it has already taken. . . . . . sorry to be a downer today. . . . . . fatigue is taking a toll. Thanks for listening. . . .

Ozzi-Welcome to the circle. Come on over to the Time to Circle the Wagon thread. We can put you in the center for so good old fashioned love and support.
-
Ozzie, happy birthday!
Congrats on 7 years ned too!
I get vertigo all the time. It is from something totally different than cancer.
We are allowed to get normal illnesses too!!
Good luck and take care of you!

Ozzi,
Welcome to the circle! You must come and let us surround you with
support during this time. I am almost 3 years out (not nearly as
long as you, but congratulations for staying with NED!). I know that
all of us from time to time have those fears and dreads. Come on in and sit a spell. Warm yourself by the fire. Relax. You deserve it. Please post often! Pam

Vera!!!!!!!!!!!!! So good to see you. How are you?
-
Hi girls,
I wanted to include a photo, but am not as computer savvy as some of you, of me walking in from the outer circle with a beautiful Mustang...oh well.
I love this thread...NoSurrender, you have created a beautiful camp here...your imagery is vivid and inviting...thanks for being so welcoming.
I've been up since 5:30am...seems to be my time the past week. Just had a double mastectomy 12/6, and lying on my back for too long is just so uncomfortable...so I check and answer email, then come to breastcancer.org. It's almost 9am here now...the sun is out and the air is crisp...I imagine it is much the same at camp. I think I'll hang out with you all for awhile by the fire.

Hi girls.
I'd like to come sit by the fire with all of you. I've been reading all the posts, but haven't done much posting. Everyone on these boards seem so thoughtful and caring. Next Mon. 12/18, will be 8 yrs. since my surgery--lumpectomy and lymph nodes. Went through chemo and rads. I can't believe it's been 8 yrs. Hopefully, I'll still be posting here in another 20 yrs !! Happy Holidays to ALL. -
Doing quite well for this time of year....
You're all the best of friends, so caring and wonderful,
peace out

I'd like to join the wagon circle. I'm a really good cook, so if there's any room on the Chuckwagon I'm available! And I'll introduce you to my partner 11yr. survivor.
-
I just lost a post - hate when that happens, and this time I didn't copy and paste it.....grrrrrrr.
Sunbearz, welcome. The chuckwagon is all yours - I warn you though - we all like to eat!
The other wagon circle thread is much more active so wander over when you get a chance. Don't try to read to catch up - it's too many pages. Just pick a page, read from there, and jump in and say hello.
-
Sunbearz,
I'm glad to see you found the Wagon Circle thread. Like Margaret said, welcome to you! There are lots of pages, so grab one and jump right in. You'll be welcomed by all!!
Bren
-
Thank you for the welcome, and I did see the other also. I also love to eat, it's what I do in my spare time. That's why the chuckwagon attracted me,and because I have some grub that will blow your boots off!
-
Thank you Bren!
I think I'm really going to enjoy myself here as the cowpokes here seem real fine!
-
You got that right!! Thank god the gals like to eat AND cook, because I hate to cook. Everytime SO wants to know what's for dinner, I tell him, "Why do you always ask me that?" He's home on workers' comp disability (he's on OTR truck driver) right now and when he's gone I just forage for food!
Jump on into one of threads ... you'll be welcome wherever you land!!
hugs,
Bren

Anyone out there a caregiver and a partner with advice?
Being a partner first and a caregiver is the job from hell! Always trying to be the compasionate one,the careful what you say one, and then the one that can handle all of this. Then in those moments of sheer exhaustion your thoughts go to, how will my life go without my partner someday? Everyday this happens to me, the feelings of Doom and Gloom, and it sometimes feels like I am being selfish thinking like this.I need to find a different way of thinking about this, as my partner probably has a whole different set of D&G feelings herself.
How do I continue to keep my very emotional feelings seperate while taking care of my partner?
-
Hi Sunbearz,
I haven't had to care for a SO while going through treatment, but did need to help care for my sister while going through rads. She lives over an hour north of me and had gone to two of my appts with me before she had a terrible horseback riding accident and was unable to walk for three months. I needed to take time to drive up and help her and be emotionally and physically supportive, as she was afraid they might have had to amputate from the knee down. I was afraid I'd die of cancer. She's my best friend in the world and the person I love the most.
I mostly kept my fears to myself and later found this board to find other friends to help me emotionally with my cancer, so that I could be there for my sister.
But since you're both dealing with cancer ... it's tough. No doubt about it.
I would suggest you copy your post to the "Dreamer" thread here. I believe there are a number of gals who have cared for their husbands, SO's who were gravely ill while going through breast cancer tx. Some of them lost their spouses during tx too. I think you'd get a whole lot more responses and tons of support from the gals on that thread.
We'd love to have you post there and we'd be there to support you every step of of the way.
love and hugs,
Bren

The Wagon Circle sounds so warm and inviting. I would love to pull up a chair and sit with you and smell the coffee. I like to sit by the campfire and watch the stars it is a peaceful place to be.

Welcome Sharon!!
It's great to have you. I'm sure more of us will be along in the morning to welcome you. I'm not much of a cook, but I do love my coffee! I'll round up the gals and get everybody up to say hello!
Bren
PS - In my avatar, I'm the one on the left and my sis is on the right!
-
Sharon and Dawn, I am echoing Bren's suggestion. Come sit and visit at the Dreamers thread. We are there for the good, bad and any celebration. We are there for support and love and advice. No judgements being made just comfort given. I will cook instead of Bren and she can make the coffee which i never get right, unless you really like "Navy" coffee. My husband does since he is a Navy Vet but he might just be humoring me, LOL.
Sharon, come celebrate your cancerverary with us. It a wonderful thing.
Dawn, bring your burdens with you and we will try to lighten your load.
I have been accused of talking too much lately but I have a lot to say! Looking forward to seeing you over there. Also, the Positive Girls Club is a good place to go for uplifting. And there is a new thread just started where we post good things happening to us. All you need to do is look around adn join in with both feet!
-
Hello to SharonM and Sunbearz! Glad you found us as we are a good support for each other. And I love the friendships I have made here.
Like the others have said, come to the Dreamers thread. Its the top thread in this forum. Lots of room on the comfy couch and lots of hugs too.
Nicki (aka chemosabi)
-
Bren, I'm going to leave the circle for a while and saddle-up and move em' out on over to the Dreamer's thread. Thank you for your advice, and maybe I'll see you there.
Keep the fire going gals, and stay warm.
-
Beth, thank you for the wonderful invitation. Gotta get this horse movin', she's getting older and slower. The Dreamers thread sounds like a place I need to go,because it seems every where I go someone else chimes in and has another place for me to go. I'm getting dizzy with all this!
-
I'm comming Nicki, and hopeing there's still room for my big butt on the couch!
Actually it's getting smaller with all the running around in here I do.
-
Thank you so much ladies for the warm welcome. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back online. My cousin has just been dx with stage 4 panceratic cancer so please keep her in your thoughts as she starts her struggle through chemo. She is in high spirits and i brought her a cancer care basket over the weekend. I do smell the coffe around the wagon and think I will pull up a log and have a cup. Again thank you so much for the welcome I do love it here and hope I can spend a little more time online.
-
I,m back for the warm fire and some friends. My partner just started her third week of rads to the throat. She now has trouble swallowing, so the food I fix we call "sliders" is anything that doesn't take to much work to get it down.Yesterday her Onc. prescribed a compound that you mix and drink to numb the throat so you can eat. This really bites as she loves to eat, and has lost weight as of late because of the swallowing issue. They say this stuff she has to swallow tastes like crap,so I hope someone in the chuckwagon has some good "slider" ideas for me.
Everyone stay warm and come back for some friends at the circle
Hugs
