My cat is named Rosie O'Donnell-I named her that when Rosie was nice, and not a scary meanie.  I used to LOVE the Rosie O'Donnell show.  Now, I am addicted to Ellen.

My best friend's cat was named Toolshed.  ????  Don't ask......

We named our little dog Gilly, but sometimes we call her Rizzo, because she has real attitude.

When I was in my twenties I had two terriers one white and one black and I named them Rye and Coke.  But the name my son was the most upset with was Baby, it was a beautiful kitten but half feral, so when I walked down the hallway he used attack for no reason and Jesse my son said I looked so silly yelling no baby no claw.  And of course I had a friend a guy who named his cat Cat and his dog Dog.

growing up we had a bischon named FRIZZLE.  My mom sat with us four kids, and we wrote a hundred names on a piece of paper.  Every time we'd go around the table and cross out one name each.  My mom, knowing we were young and stupid, kept advancing frizzle to the next round, until finally it was the last name there.

My future boston terrier (yes yes, I know.  I have picked out a name for a dog I don't own yet) will be named BOOGER PRESLEY.

Long story short- the boston terrier became a very important thing in my breast cancer recovery during chemo- so I fell in love with the breed.

Then, after cancer, I was walking in manhattan, and a guy had a puppy, and this girl asked what its name was. The guy responded, BOOKER, and I thought he said BOOGER, and I laughed out loud on the sidewalk and everyone looked at me.

Then I started thinking about BOOGER, and remembering the movie revenge of the nerds, and the guy named BOOGER PRESLEY.  BPS are also my initials, and I'm a monogram fanatic, so BOOGER PRESLEY SILVERMAN will be a member of my family this spring.

Years ago my sister's dog had puppies. I was allowed to name them (I think I was about 12). I called them Flower Power, Honeybaby, Pawpaw and Mango. My dear old dog who is no longer with us was called Thelma and my old cat, who had to be put to sleep a couple of months ago was called Pusscatortum.

There was a cat in a book that I once read called Mrs Lovelipaws - if I get another cat, I would love to call her that!

Like Muffet I name my Bettas too (I thought I was the only one who named fish Surprised.) Currently we have Pearl (female white w/red fins), Ruby female (red), Savannah female (white w/red fins). The male we have (crown tail Betta) is Blueberry.

The male we had before Blueberry was Tiffany (yep, Tiffany for a male) my granddaughter named him that because she said Tiffany is a beautiful name and he's a beautiful Betta.

When I was in high school my friend had named her dog: "Comehere".

So when she'd call it to come she'd say, "Come here, Comehere".

At the time I thought it was funny...

When my husband was a kid his dog's name was Zero! How sad...LOL

We now have a Maltese named Buddy Love ( refused to name it Zero).

My Mom had a Yorkie named Mr. Peabody.

We have 7 dogs, 4 with semi normal names--Milly, Lucky, Prancer, Sweetie (they are our girls); boys are Mowgli ('cause he was raised by a pack of humans---kids were home then), KaShoe (pronouced "cashew"--Daughter named him), and CB (for "coyote bait"--hubby thought he was being creative.)

We had cats Orangey, Fuzzy, Mayonaise, and Beans.

Couldn't get any weirder than that, now could it?

I also had a cat named Sid for short...his full name was Pyscho Sid Vicious Malicous - because he loved to sneak up behind you and climb all the way up your back, swat you in the face, and then run! My son had a big grey cat he named Ballou (sp)? after the bear in Jungle Book.

    How 'bout KAT-TASTROPHE! and KAT-A-STROTIC!

I have a cat named Aaron Neville because she had a black face and a big mole above one eye (is this wrong?)

My husband had a friend in high school who named his German Shepherd "Mother F*****". Was really funny watching him call his dog in the park!

Laura  ... that's too funny about the German Shephard!

Amy ... wow, I cannot keep track!

My sister rescued a turtle that they ran over with their car and nursed it back to health .. they named it "Roadkill"

Growing up we had a Samoyed named Buck and a Cockapoo named Sweet Pea.  Then I had a guinea pig named Chocolate Chip... Cats named Orion, Hobo, and Felix. Out on my own I had a Border Collie dog named Alex, Black German Shepard from the pound already named Samantha, and a brown/black German Shepard we named Marley (after Bob).  Parakeets named Elvis and Cupid.  Finally goldfish named Polkadot and Sunset.  Oh and my daughter now has a hamster named Starr.  (She had one named Moon who unfortunately passed away)

Good thing I decided to scroll down and see what other threads have I missed!

Every single German Sheppard my father had, was named: "DICK"!  Don't ask why, regardless if it was in Africa or in Portugal... all male GS were "Dicks"!

Only when I arrived to the US, I found out that "Dick" can be used in a derogatory way!  Good thing, can you imagine me yelling for a male dog: "Diiiiiiiiiiccccccckkkkkkkkkk, where are you???? Dick, come to mama!"

We have a new puppy - a black and white cockapoo.  My son wanted Panda for her name, I wanted something more girly!  So her name is Panda Belle.  Most people call her Pandemonium - I guess we can figure out why!Laughing

We should start a thread with what people name their foobs.  I love the Gladys Gawn and the helpful hints from your friends.

My husband is a big beer drinker as well as a fly fisher he combined these two loves and named our dog Henry's Fork Weinhard.  Evidently an ode to the Henry's Fork river and beer.  He was disgusted when the neighbor kids started calling the dog Hanky Panky but guess what?  Six years later he calls the dog Hank too!

A friend of mine had a cat she called B.D. Short for "brain dead" because he was of the stupidest animals alive.

My cat Chaco got his name because I visited Chaco Canyon right before I got him. Now that he's 13 & fat I tend to call him "Flopper." because he'll walk two feet and then flop down on his side. Sometimes the two are combined as "flaco" (and I love Flaco Jimenez's music)

The avatar cat was named Joli (deliberately misspelled) because she was beautiful. And the name fit. But that's not a goofy name.
