Good morning, I am up cooking. Just wanted to say have a great day and eat hearty and enjoy. You all know how good we all are about exercising after the fact so cut loose. Happy Thanksgiving, Mary
-
Happy Thanksgiving one and all!
Had a severe reaction to the patch last night including a dramatic drop in blood pressure, but will go into detail later.
We have decided to eat in Athens with my Dad and not do the home cooking this year since we are going to Atlanta to the Colts game later.
Again, everyone have a great day,
Hugs >>>
Janie

Janie, hope you're doing OK with the patch!
Can you believe it? Tuesday it was 85, yesterday it was 75, tonight it's sleeting.... -
Hey, yeah, I am doing fine since removing the thing (patch) and never planning to use another one. I immediately had the allergic reaction with the hives, but decided to keep it on for a while to see if the ol body adjusted. I dropped off to sleep in front of the tv and woke up deathly sick and vomiting and then my hair and clothes became dripping wet. My throat hurt, my nose ran profusely and I began to experience difficulty breathing. My head hurt, and I am sure I am forgetting some of it. Anyway, all is back to "normal" now. I did several dr apts last week and have several more this coming week, including the onc practitioner, the gastro guy, and the dermatologist.
Had too much Thanksgiving. Must diet diet diet now.
Yes, the weather is crazy!
Catch you guys later,
janie
-
Good Lord Janie, that had to be scary! I am glad your fine. Good luck with all the apts. Let us know. I get my skin cancer off Fri, that is on my neck right by my artery. They numb you so you are awake for that. I hope he has calm hands! Hubby gets surgery Tue. and dog gets fixed Wed. so we are just surgery happy. I think I am going to have to get the spurs out of my shoulder because our weather went from 70 to snow flurries and 30! I am now in my winter pain. I think it is going to get in the 40's. Like thats warm! That Canadian air is bone chilling. Better get. Have a good Sunday.Hugs, Mary
-
Hey girls, heres a cleaning tip. Hubby was helping me clean for Thursday. I said I need the dusting done in the living room. He got out the sweeper and turned the small round end tables upside down on the carpet. I was in wonder as he swept half the living room floor then moved into the back bedroom. I then heard him in the living room again and back to the middle bedroom. I said finally please finish one room at a time before I go nuts! He does half the carpet then moves to another room and does half then goes back. Boy IF I had a gun! He shut off the vacume and I see him twisting the table tops on the carpet and I had to ask "what the hell are you doing"? He said"dusting....why"? I didn't even care by this point. Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, that is hilarious about the dusting. I hope he vacuumed AFTER he dusted. lol
Whatever that is in my breast is hard and sore. I feel like it would feel so good to have it aspirated. I hope that is the next step rather than bothering with the mammo etc. It is there. It hurts and whatever the deal is, I think they need to alleviate the pain. You probably do not remember that I probably have the longest record for draining after surgery. Not the drains themselves, but I had a dipple in the nipple that consistently filled with fluid. Months after surgery, my onc in Valdosta (whom I started seeing while on Herceptin, after rads which means at least 8 months after surgery) commented on how he had never seen anyone drain like that and continue to drain. It finally got better after it drained a whole lot at once one night. So I think this is probably the same problem. Dang. My reconstruction is being affected too. The nipple is sort of caving in.
Mary, what did they say about the skin cancer? Did you catch it early? I see about my lesions on my forehead Friday. There is an ugly red thingee on my forearm. The reg doc thinks it is a bruise. I am watching to see if it stays or fades. It is red and circular with black inside the red. The edges are only slightly uneven and it is somewhat symmetrical. Can you tell I have been researching? Cancer is usually different colors, asymmetical, with uneven edges.
Did your doc think yours is bc related or a whole separate issue? I know those bone spurs must be murder.
Hey everybody,
Janie
-
Janie, they tried to drain my tumor at first because the Dr. here in town thought it couldn't be cancer but he couldn't get the needle in it so I went to the B.C. center in Springfield. I know that there is cyst you can get that gets hard and sore and they drain them, thats what the doc. thought mine was here. I had Squamous cell on my shoulder maybe 5 years before my B.C. and they removed a big chunk and said don't worry. I now have a small patch on my neck on the side just under my jaw bone. Mine is like a white tissue bump that peals and itches and gets a little red or bleeding then gets better, then comes back. You can get a white raised bump also. These finger out under the skin but grow slowly. The sooner, the less dept they have to go down in the skin. I have had this patch flash froozen 4 times but it keeps returning so they are going to remove the skin around it and stitch it so it wont come back, there anyway. Once you get this I think it keeps returning in different areas. Hubby's cousin that has been fighting lung cancer(non smoking) for 25 years has had hundreds of skin cancers removed. Maybe there is a relation with skin cancer and other cancers. They tell me mine is from the sun but they tell hubby's cousin that too(she lives in Fla.) They say even the Melanoma has a good outcome if caught early. Mine is still in the outer layer so thats good. My reg. Doc. treated me for an allergy for 16 months when I had the first skin cancer. I wouldn't have had the big hole dig in my shoulder if she had just sent me to a Derm. I made the apt. with the derm. because I knew it wasn't gonna heal with cream. I don't have a medical lic. but I do have some sense, o.k. very little but I can fake it pretty well on a good day. Hope you are clean Janie. I know there are these little keratoses things that are from the sun and not cancer and they freeze them. I hope you just have sun damage or as I call mine old lady skin. I see all these things, they don't belong! oh well. Good Luck. Gotta get. Hugs, Mary
-
Man, Janie, those patches sound evil. That must have been terrifying. So glad you're doing better and hope the docs fine all's well this week. And Mary, out, out, damn spots!
Well, the heating guy is supposed to come this morning. We haven't had heat all weekend and it's pretty chilly here at home. You wouldn't think that'd be a big deal in Texas, but we've had 30s for lows and 40s for highs since Thursday night. Brrr..... Luckily, some online and real-life shopping have been able to keep me warm... I haven't done one productive thing since Friday.
Hope Nancy is OK. She must be taking a board break. -
I am fine PJ. Had my visit with the nurse practitioner today. She went to see the onc and came back and agreed that I should be aspirated, or maybe is just placating me, but anyway, that is what I am doing a week from Thursday. The onc wants a report from the surgeon about the tissue. I just feel like it would feel so much better to be drained.
Hey Mary! House still standing?
I heard from NL about a week ago when she sent all of us that Maxine email. She also wrote to me about one of the forwards I sent out. She may be on that other board more now.
Stay warm. Especially you PJ. Any heat yet? It is COLD here in GA too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Janie
-
Hope the aspiration helps, Janie.
I got some wonderful news today and wanted to share it with all of you who have been so supportive. My pre-op MRI shows "no residual evidence of disease" after chemo. I am sure your prayers and gool wishes helped as much as the AC and Taxol. I'd love to back out of Monday's surgery but I guess I can't.
I wish you all some good news. Heaven knows we could all use it.
-
Hey girls, glad you are getting that drained Janie. It is no doubt putting pressure in there and making it feel tight and hurting. When they tried to drain mine, they numbed it and I did not feel a thing. Shrink, good news and the surgery probably wont be as bad with what you have been through already. I think sometimes our worry makes us feel worse than anything. Hubby is home and sound to sleep. I hope this helps some of his pain. The dr. said maybe 20%; thats better than nothing. The Doc showed me pictures of before and after bones. Pretty interesting. I have to get. Are ya all getting your shopping done? Got the tree up yet? Later. Hugs, Mary
-
Oh my goodness, Hubby can't even shave. I got half done and he couldn't take it anymore, he is half shaved. He didn't want the electric razor, now theres a good chance for an accident?, oh please someone just shoot me; shoot me now!!!! The hosp. is on the phone now asking how he is, he said pain is 10...10....10. He is driving me completely nuts! He is telling them every little pain and he just had surgery, what does he expect????? I have the gun loaded and ready, I will take care of his pain! Dog is getting her surg. done so we get her back tomorrow. Hubby is worried about her. I have to go explain the whole pain/surgery conection and hubby now knows he has to eat with the pain meds. to keep from getting heartburn. This is gonna be fun! In his defense it is the first big sorta speak surgery he has had outside of tonsils years ago.Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, how is your dh doing? How about you?
So far so good with my appointments. Skins lesions are benign according to dermatologist. Next apt is with surgeon. I hope my pain is from cysts rather than lymphedema gone amuck and spreading. The cysts would be much easier to deal with and get it over it. LE is another story.
Have a good weekend!
Go VOLS ! play for SEC championship today)
-
Good news, Janie! And I'm with you on the LE. Boy, I wish they'd find something else to fix that!
Hey to Mary!
Not much up here today. Have to work tomorrow, tho. Which you'd think would get me to be a little more productive today, but....
Later, Paula -
Good for you Janie, now to get that cyst outta the way. I have been cleaning. ECK! I see my Onky on Thurs., got my ususal blood work done(reg.6 mo.check up) and I have a barium swallow Thurs. a.m. for my throat. My Doc. is going to see whats putting the pressure on it and if it is thyroid then we will go ahead with surgery. I wonder why they didn't do this long ago? I like my new Doc. It is cold so not much up here. Daughter called and is going to try to come home for x-mas. She waited and the tix are really high. We bought a camper. It is a lot smaller than we wanted but it is in great shape and reasonable. We don't want a lot of weight on our truck anyway, we just have a 1/2 ton. We didn't want payments too so we wanted something we could just buy. Well I better get. Stay warm girls, Mary
-
PJ, I find LE the most aggravating of the residuals from BC.
A camper Mary! Where are we going?
It is 45 here right now and supposed to get in the 20's with high winds. brrrrrrrrr
I have been working my buns off. Brought work home again tonight. This could get old.
Have a good one ladies. Janie

Crap N.L. that sucks! I had itches with the levaquin and I felt like a monkey scratching all the time. Keflex makes my face turn red and burn. I never had a reaction to anything when I was young. Hope you get better real quick. It is cold here and I don't like it. Hubby still can't use his arm and is in pain. Dog is doing well though, it is a girl so it can take it! I guess it is a good thing(as Martha Stewart would say) that I don't like guns in the house because I would be a widow. I better go thaw something to eat tonight. Later girls. Can you see my hot chocolate mustach?(it hides my real one yikes) Mary
-
Hey Mary, Got milk? Hot chocolate milk that is. Yep, sometimes men get all the mileage they can out of the surgery, or the flu, or a cold, or a paper cut. You and the dog are probably dancing by now.
NL, is it not about time you got well and stayed that way for a while? Strep! is not fun!
HEY HEY Paula! Thawed out yet? It is cold here.
-
Hey girls, N.L. I logged onto the site Janie gave us and put it in my favorites and when I hit it in favorites I go right to our board. Thank God for Janies puter smarts. I spent hours finding us. Janie, thats a life saver. I would give up sometimes and just back out. Well rain and snow tomorrow just when we have to pick up our camper. It shouldn't be too bad after noon. Fri. is going to be rain and snow too for my 28 mile drive to Dermatologist. My Onky cancelled me Thurs. so I get my throat test and eye Dr. and Onky next wk. I am going to get my blood work Thurs. so I can see what the tumor markers are doing. Well I better get. Janie, P.J. and N.L. stay warm. Oh...Oh...Janie I got a Cooks convection oven on sale at J.C.P. and I totally love it. My cupcakes looked like thay came off the Food network. They were so moist. I got it on sale for $128.00 reg. $179. 00. The best purchase I ever made. I have to turn the pan around when there is like 10 mins. left when I use a cupcake pan with 12 slots because the back soaks up the heat but not a problem. Cookies are perfect. Cooked ribeyes tonight, fried them just brown and baked them 30 mins. and they were very tender. I would have had to bake them 1 hr. in the reg. oven. Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, maybe you can send him out in the cold and then lock the door and let Mother Nature take care of him for you. No evidence....
Janie, it's been cold in the mornings, but pretty warm in the afternoons. It actually froze this morning. Blech. What is it, nearly winter or something?
Have to go to the ENT tomorrow for my stupid ear (clogged tube). I hope they don't put a tube in my ear.... That's kids stuff....
NancyLee, when Nathan gets strep, he gets spots. Sorry you're dealing with the antibiotic crap on top of the illness itself. I think you need a nice long rest. A spa sounds good.... -
All that "evidence" talk reminds me of an old Hitchcock show. The police were talking to the widow trying to figure out what the weapon had been, while enjoying the roasted lamb she had obviously been cooking when the murder took place. Ends up, they were eating the evidence because she had clobbered him with the leg of lamb. Another one of those weekly shows had an icicle as the stabbing weapon ...... it melted. Don't make shows like they used to.
That oven sounds wonderful. I must get one!
-
Mary, you got an oven for 128 bucks? Is it a little oven?
-
Hey Girls, first it is a counter top convection oven. I was wrong about the original price as I saw it was $278.00 or about and I got it for $128.00 so I feel even better than when I thought the original price was $179.00. Well I got my esophagram done today and I was worried about my chest hurting like I had bronchitis all the time and how it hurt my chest sometimes to drink and how I would feel like I couldn't breath some times, hubby was on me about the deep cough that had come on me. Thanks to radiation I am aspirating. When I swallow food every things fine but when I drink 20% of the liquid goes down my windpipe. They were surprised I hadn't had chronic ppneumonia. Wow I feel better knowing I don't have lung cancer because I was kinda worried about that. I don't have bad pain but just feels like I have a chest cold a little. I have never had a chest cold so I thought it was something new. They couldn't tell if the thyroid was big or causing any problems. I have to hold my chin down toward my chest when I drink and it keeps the windpipe closed. Now thats real convenient. Well N.L. I have no clue as to how to cut and paste. Hubby and I was trying to figure that out recently. He got a chip to transfer our phone pics. to our computer and the guy at Verizon made it look so easy with his on the spot tutorial. Hubby and I got home and neither of us knew what the guy did so needless to say we haven't used our $30.00 card to transfer pics. yet. Frankly I don't know why we got it in the first place. Hubby's stupid idea. Well I better go. My puter was down all day. They came and put in a new modem and then they had line trouble so now it is back. I am running faster so I think that modem was bad for a while. I guess the blizzard that is going through Mo. is headed this way tonight and all wk. end. I have a Dr. apt. in Springfield tomorrow but I won't go if it is bad. Better get some work done. Later Girls. Warm hugs, Mary
-
saw the snow in Il on the tube
Had two needle biopsies yesterday. Supposed to call back next week for results and have a return appointment in six weeks.
Stay warm,
Janie
-
Girls, so far it is just a little snow and rain. They have predicted freezing rain but hasn't come yet. Now they say this afternoon. Hubby wanted to go to Spring. and do a little x-mas shopping but I said no. We will wait until good weather(besides he is not a good shopper and never wants to go). He needs jeans, bigger, so we have to go to Springfield because there are no clothing stores here or much of anything. Janie, I will be so pulling for a good report for you. The wait just plain sucks! Hugs, Mary
-
Thanks Mary, I feel pretty sure that both lumps are benign. However, it is always good to hear it from the lab.
Hope everyone is getting in the Christmas spirit. I still have much to do.
Hugs to all,
Janie
-
So I wrote an entire post and the computer ate it or something...I swear that keeps happening here!! Janie, my prayers are for B9 & B9 too...Mary, I started getting in the spirit today by going shopping over in Dickinson, N.D. at the big mall there...it was fun until I freaked out over the crowds...yuck...too many people in one place...Hi, PJ!!!....Nite..Life is Good

Janie, B9B9B9B9B9.......
Well, we had about 80 degrees yesterday and the front hit today. Cold (for us) and rainy for four days, but I should count myself lucky with what you northerners have been getting.
Got the tree up with the help of some friends last night. And my sis in law rearranged my entire room. So, that was fun. Going to help her pack. She's getting ready to move from her townhouse (she lost her husband a couple months ago).
Later girls.... have fun shopping
