Well I had my 6 month check up again... I am less nervous each time I go. I had my mammogram on my right breast (breast cancer side) I was sitting in the waiting room waiting for my ticket out of there and "see you in 6 months" from the radiologist. Instead the girl called my name and said we need more views because there area calcifications that werent there last time. She said they were small and had to magnify them 10X. They look like tiny specks. Well after about 10 minutes the radiologist called me back and said they were benign and I had a cyst behind my nipple. Now I worry what they'll find in my other breast next time. I really wasnt as freaked out as I thought Id be...I am just so tired of worrying about what "might" happen. I really hate going to my oncology appointments I always think my luck will end.    Stacey

    Hi Stacey,

I'm glad to hear that your 6 month is clear.  I'm really tired of doctors looking for something wrong.  I think of you often and all the help your gave me over the past year.  I hope you have a great holiday.  Nancy

It is very common to have calcifications in the first few years after a lumpectomy, Glad you got the all-clear.

Oh Stacey, I SO hear ya! I guess that extra-view thing happens to so many of us. It always happens when I go, except this last time they just told me to go and it just worried me to death, thinking that they were being careless and must have missed something! Crazy, huh? Bottom line is that I don't expect to ever be comfortable and reassured by my mammograms from now on. I just know that I can walk out and have a six-month reprieve from worrying....until next time.

Good news for you though, Stacey...NED always deserves celebration!
