did your PS measure you before putting tissue expanders in you, to get the right size, etc? Wonder what the general protocol is about what I should expect from a PS prior to surgery. my ps did nothing, and didn't tell me anything about sizes, etc.

well, mine did not, but.. here's how he did do it... (keep a smile on your face) He walked in with a pink mop bucket of "boobs" or his boob bucket, dumped them on the table and started holding them up, kinda like a third boob in the middle...  then says" so which one yu like"...talking to my DH... it did kinda show me what the sizes would look like... he then proceeded to show me how strong, by twisting stretching... I'm not sure how its done all over , but I'm kinda glad he had a sense of humor... :)

Yes, my PS took many different measurements--that is how they figure out what size to use.

Mine just said 600-650cc as soon as he saw me with my top off, and that is exactly what I ended up with....600 on the left and 650 on the right.  When I told him he said that he didn't even remember saying it.

To be honest I don't think they have to measure much at the start, because you usually have expanders first and it's a wait  and see to determine how much they fill.

At my first visit his assistant asked me what bra size I wore and I laughed at her. I had an A-cup on the left and a C-cup on the right due to previous lumpectomies. She measured me as for a bra fitting. the pre-op appointment my PS measured me as far as chest width and put in expanders to match the width.

Yes, my PS measured my chest to get the right size expander (width/height) and then asked approx. what size I wanted to be, to get the expander with the right capacity.

It would not surprise me if an experienced PS can tell what size expander you'll take just by looking at you. I do seem to recall a little metric tape measure coming out.

Mine measured the dimensions of my breast.  They should measure so that the expander matches the width of your breast.  Best wishes!

Honestly, my PS could just look at me and know.  He picked up the one I was looking at and it was perfect and that is what we did.  That part is easier to figure out I think

Mine measured, but they feel too big.  But then I suppose we all must feel that way, huh?  They feel so yuck.

Muffy, they do feel too big but they want to expand as much as possible. my perm implants feel so much better than the expanders.

Hard to believe that it's true, but I believe you!  That will be nice.  :)  One more week.

The difference is night and day!  And the recovery is so fast!

You're gonna be sleeping on your stomach is no time.

I will admit that when I got up at night, I walked holding my mast side, did that for months after dx and recon.

    LOL

My ps measured me and took pictures to get the before and after.

I'll get my exchange in February - so I have a while to go.

Can't wait to get rid of my pet rock!

    Take Care.

MY PS measured me as well.

Pray I have my exchanged scheduled for Feb. 8th I am so excited.  Never ever been excited about surgery before.  Are you having nipples made?  I just found out for this that it is another surgery.  Yikes. so many surgeries.
