    Hi,

I just needed to maybe vent a little bit. I am just having one of those days.  It has been one year since my surgeries and my last chemo treatment was in April, and  I am doing well.  But does anyone ever get tired of your body recouping? I am sure you have. I just want to be back to my old self again.  No sinus problems, no hot flashes, and other weird side effects from the treatment and the on going treatment.  Tamoxifan and zoladex and multiviatamin, calcium, effexor, wait not working going on lexapro.

I have the world of support, but they just do not know.  You know?

I am sorry I do not mean to be a downer and usually I am not.  Just having one of those days.

    Thanks for listeningEmbarassed.

Vent away, Heather. I think it's fair to say that most of us have been where you are. Whomever said that this whole breast cancer thing is a marathon and not a sprint hit the nail right on the head.

    We hear you, though....

    Heather,

Allow yourself to have a bad day.  It's very normal.  I am not as far along as you.  I finished tx on 8/29/07..2 surgeries by 10/1/07..no rads needed..had mastectomy..and I have reconstruction coming along hopefully in January.  But yes..yes...I do want to feel normal again.  I do think however our idea of "normal" is forever different than before bc.  We will never be the same...close but not the same person we were before.

I feel good now.  Do you?  I mean in general? Everytime we have an ache and pain or something not right...you wonder...is this from the chemo, etc...very fustrating.

I am on tamoxifin as well.

Vent...that's your right!! haha...have a great day..I hope letting it out made you feel better!

    xoxo

    Lisa

**by the way...I am not too far from you in ohio!

I'll join you.  The winter weather is adding to the body aches and pains made worse by Femara. I finished chemo, rads this time last year and now I worry over doctor visits I and find my stomach is giving me problems as well.  I'm trying everything possible to make myself heal and feel better but somehow it is not enough.  Maybe I'm depressed because a childhood friend was just diagnosed with bc and is now going through all the scans and future surgery scheduled in Jan.  I feel like I've living it all over again.  Joann

Heather --Give yourself a break---As things go this is very early in your recovery to expect normal----It will come--

Your body has been assaulted and it is bound to take time to recover---

Are you sleeping?  Sleep disturbance that many of us have can contribute to fatigue and irritability.

Most don't realize what a toll surgery takes on the body--add to that months of poison and you need to realize--it will take time.

Be kind to yourself and realize things will improve---

One thing I would caution---You mention you are on Tamoxifen.

You really don't want to be taking Lexapro or you will effect Tamoxifen's metabolism---  Effexor XR will not and is fine for those on Tamoxifen.

Remeron and Cymbalta may also interfere less.

It does get better--Hang in there.

    Take care,

Thank you all SOOOOO MUCH!!!!  For all of your encouragement and support.  I know it will take time-I am just impatient and right everything right now.   I do worry about the different aches and pains too. We will all be betterLaughing.

I am curious about the lexapro thing.  Why would my onco. put me on it if it decreases the effects of the Tamoxifin?  I am going to have to call.  Have you heard anything about Prozac?

     Take care,

    xoxoxoxo

Heather...Sounds like you are feeling better today!  Good.  I can't help you with the prozac question..sorry.  But I can relate to the impatient comment...I too want everything yesterday..haha!

    Enjoy your day!

    Heather-

I posted this elsewhere but since it has info for you I'm putting it here.

In the bold area note that it mentions Fluoxetine----That is Prozac

From the Journal of Oncology practice
    http://jop.stateaffiliates-asco.org/NovemberIssue/155.pdf.

The Bottom Line: Do Not Administer Any
    SSRI With Tamoxifen

The future is exciting with the possibility of developing truly
customized, 100%-effective therapies for our patients. For the
present, however, besides entering our patients onto well-
designed clinical trials asking important questions, we must
not encumber our currently available therapies with
combinations of drugs that effectively make them a placebo
    .

The bottom line is this: Do not administer any SSRIs
(fluoxetine [Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, IN],
    paroxetine [Paxil, GlaxoSmithKline, Pittsburgh, PA],
sertraline [Zoloft, Pfizer, New York, NY], citalopam [Celexa,
Forest Laboratories, Inc., New York, NY], or escitalopam
[Lexapro, Forest Laboratories, Inc.]) concurrently with
    tamoxifen.

Effexor  a multiple reuptake inhibitor happens to be very effective for panic attacks and failing that, chances are

that Remeron a tetracyclic which is also good for panic would not interfere with tamoxifen as much as an SSRI.

And lastly, another multiple reuptake inhibitor, Cymbalta can positively effect panic attacks with less implications than an SSRI.

The best one to use with Tamoxifen is Effexor

    Hope this helps. Laughing

Heather,  this is actually quite normal this time of year.  They have determined that people respond better in daylight.  With more dark hours people get blue easier.  Besides, you have been through alot, take your day or two and vent!  You deserve it.
