I started a sourdough starter recently and have been making bread.  My problem is that I lilve in an OLD farm house and it is never really warm in here.  Any suggestions on creating a warm place to get it to rise?

Do you have a gas stove---If so, maybe just the pilot light in the oven will give it the warmth it needs--  I used to make yogurt that way.---Just wrapped it in a small blanket.

Are you making the starter from scratch because breadtopia.com  has some dried sourdough cultures that reconstitute nicely--takes a few days but worth it. You just feed it for a few days with flour and water.

I made my starter, it was really easy.  I had one before my diagnosis I'd had for about 5 years, but it completely died from neglect while I was going through my first treatments.
