yet another thread about mammos
I know that these threads are started every other day. Sorry, you don't really have to read it. I just need to write it.
Tomorrow is my mammogram. The one I had last year was shortly after chemo so I was pretty comfortable with it. But now it's a year later (tho I had an MRI 6 months ago). Not only that but next Friday my husband leaves for Brazil and I follow 2 weeks later - for the trip we didn't get to take last year since I was diagnosed just 2 weeks before he was due to leave. And, my initial lump showed up in November '05.
So, it's just a confluence of you-know-what.
I'm sure it will be fine. Just a little anxiety - do you think that's why I ate more than is really humanly possible at T-giving dinner tonight and is the reason I'm up on line at 1 while my dh is snoring away upstairs?

jorf,
"just a confluence of you-know-what" -- and what you have cited in your post is all just circumstantial evidence!!!
Since you had an MRI 6 months ago, i think you will be fine. Your mind is having the heebie jeebies, partly influenced by your substantial T-giving dinner.
Get some rest tonight and have a great time with hubby in Brazil !!!!
hugs,
celia

i had a mammo today, which inevitably lead to an ultrasound ........... it freaked me out on every level!
i thought i had it 'all together', "scar tissue or an encapsulated suture" ....... now i'm scheduled for a biopsy of unaffected mastectomy breast, and i'm just quite fed up with cancer lol!
i have decided to opt out of any further diagnostics until the new year, my kid deserves a decent christmas for a change, and frankly so do i lol! have a fabulous trip jorf ...... i'm doing my every 6 week trek to the 'keys' soon and i just can't wait to get there this time!
brazil is fabulous (as you already know) ........... enjoy!!!!!!!!!

It's hard not to worry.
At the place I go if you've had cancer they'll schedule you at a time with the Radiologist is around and the tech will run your films over for a quick look-see.
It's not the final determination but both times I've left I've had a verbal "all clear." It seems like it takes forever for that letter to get mailed.

Thank you. I really should have put this off until January but I've been in that not believing that there is a future thing all year and so never quite believed that I was going to actually go to Brazil until a few weeks ago (lots of DH problems this year).
Yeah, Rose, that's how they did it last year. I am NOT leaving the building without a result. And this year I'm bringing my own reading material so I don't have to sit in this bizarre little cubby-hole room all by myself in a hospital gown reading a torn copy of a magazine about boats (talk about hell - only having one source of reading material and it's mostly advertisements about something you have no interest in!).
Thanks again.

I hear you on the mammo stress. Mine is next Friday, then MRI on the 13th. I get the biggest pit in my stomach. I forgot to ask my doc for some xanax!
Sometimes I repeat a prayer to myself while there waiting and it helps. I used to say a prayer during my radiation treatments. Hail Mary ( I am catholic) and the Our Father.
