Hey Girls,
I guess we're all busy with life . . . and it's such a blessing to be feeling well!
This site has been, and still is, such a great place to keep connected. But as life's mundane busy-ness creeps in, I've been neglecting my sisters. Here's my list of excuses: 28 report cards; DD's Irish dancing championships; administrative paperwork; trying to eat right and exercise those pesky 30 minutes a day. Sigh. Why can't the BC regime be chocolate and lying down reading a good book?
Hope everyone is feeling well - you all continue to be in my prayers.
Christine

Ummmm, the regimen is not eating chocolate and taking naps? Oopsie.
Miss S
PS I got my port removed yesterday (on the anniversary of my dx, no less). I'm doing well, just a lil sore!
-
I finished rads finally today. I should have finished Friday but as luck would have it, the machine went down and I didn't get to finish. I also went to visit the plastic surgeon today and she started pumping me back up. I had 180cc's put in today and will go back on Friday to have more saline put in. I will need to get up to 500cc's before all is said and done. The plastic surgeon said that she won't consider exchange surgery until at least 3 months post rads and preferably 6 months post rads. Wow, here we go.........back to life and the new normal.
-
Miss S.....congrats on the port removal!
Patti....Hip Hip Hooray on the completion of rads!!!!
Off to my weekly herceptin treatment......this will be number 17...only 35 more to go
.

Hi ladies,
Sorry I havn't been around much lately, but as most other have said life is starting to get in the way again. Busy, busy!
I'm still having issues with the pain from what we thought was an infection all this time, but I'm starting to think it's a slight case of lymphodema. I'm dealing with it and it's not bothering me as much as it was. I still havn't had my port out as yet and probably will put it off until after the first of the year now. Have too much going on from now through the holidays.
Hubby's getting ready to finally have his cateracts removed. I'll be so happy when it's done. He's only got 5% of his vision left from his glaucoma and that's been clouded for the past year or more.
Been having some major teenager issues here and I'm about ready to pop my son a good one........lol You know the attitude thingy!
I've been working a bit on making jewelry again and having fun doing it, but it seems I have to stop all the time for the phone, kids, hubby or something else. Sometimes I just want to go to a big hotel and be LEFT ALONE!!! Hey I'm actually back in the swing of cooking and cleaning again. I didn't realize how much dust and dirt I had not worried about until the chemo was over...lol Hair's coming in but very, very slowly. I figure when I can actually get a curling iron around it, it will be complete as far as I'm concerned.
Sorry to hear about round 2 of chemo for some of you.
Jacques, glad to hear things seem to be on the upswing.
Rosebud, glad you got the nice little vacation.
Congrats on those who have finished their rads and had port removals
Sorry I just can't keep up anymore but know that I'm thinking of you all.

Hi all,
I am pretty much a blob right now. My right lung needs to be drained, and, counts and God willing, will happen this Friday. I know I will feel so much better once this is done! Right now I walk a few steps and I am 'sucking wind' and my heart starts racing - not fun!
So glad to see many of you done with all treatments, getting ports out, etc. Lovely!
Can you believe that Thanksgiving is next week? It doesn't seem possible! Looks like my two boys along with fiance and girlfriend will be here, too. My dear friend is making dinner at her house on Thursday and my brother and his wife will have our extended family feast in Lincoln on Saturday. I am not sure if I will be up for it all, since it is a full whammy chemo week, but I am sure going to try!
Take care! Jacque
-
Hi Jacque,
I will be praying for you to have a smooth week and little, if any, side effects so you can enjoy your Thanksgiving. I'm sure there will be "supervising" you can be doing at your friend's place - you know, resting with your feet up and pillows all around.
Will also ask the Lord to sustain you until you can get your lung drained. It must be a trial for you and scary too.
Hope all of my American sisters enjoy some excellent turkey and pie. I'll be thankful from this side of the border.
Christine

((((Jacque)))), praying that things will go smoothly for you on Friday and that you will be showered with God's goodness. Sounds like you have a wonderful Thanksgiving week planned....enjoy your family and friends and let them pamper you.
Angel, so good to hear from you. I'm so sorry that you are still experiencing the pain. You might want to get referred to a PT that specializes in lymphodema. Happy to hear you are getting back to normal. Good luck with your husband's surgery.
Christine...thanks for the warm Thanksgiving wishes. I'm sure I'll have to schedule some extensive exercises after the turkey and pies.
Five of my kids and their families (12 grandchildren) will be home. I am so looking forward to the week (even all the noise). There is so much to be thankful for this year.
Love to all,
Nancy

Happy Thanksgiving to my sisters.....I am so thankful for each of you.

hi guys, just checking in. we're in kansas for the holiday. it went from being in the 70s yesterday to being in the 40s within two hours. i went from wearing a sleeveless shirt to a sweatshirt!
i'm thankful for all of you. you made this journey so much easier, as we held each other's hand and encouraged each other.

This is Jacque's youngest son, Greg, checking in. I'm sorry to say that my mother passed away earlier this morning. Yesterday, the doctors discovered that her liver was failing, and they gave her two to four weeks. Over the night, her breathing became labored, and the doctors called us to come in at 5:30 this morning. She was able to hear us, and we were all able to say our goodbyes to her. She went peacefully with her family around her.
Her visitation will be at the Crosby-Kunold-Burket Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm on saturday. Directions to the funeral home are Here
Her funeral will be on sunday afternoon at Faith Westwood United Methodist Church at a time to be announced. Directions to the church can be found Here
We would like to thank all of you for your continuous support and many prayers as she fought the battle of her life. That was what was on her blog today. I thought maybe some might want to know this. It brings me much sadness right now but I know she is in a better place..rosebud

Oh, I'm so very sad to hear about dear Jacque. I'm so thankful to have met her in our group and her strength and faith were so inspirational. I'll be praying for her dear husband and sons as this will surely be a very difficult time for all. My love to all of my other dear sisters here.

The news of Jacque's passing just seemed so sudden to me. I was worried about her because she had not been doing the best, but I never dreamed she would go so quickly. I know that was probably much better for her, though.
She was such a wonderful person and I will think of her and remember her as someone who was brave and depended on the Lord.
I hate cancer.

Ouch.....that just stinks about Jacque. I hate cancer!!!! What a wonderful woman she was and what a good fight she fought. I am sure she now has her wings and will watch over us.
I pray for us all each night,
Nancy

Ladies,
Jacque's family has posted the message given at her service.
http://jacqnielsplace.blogspot.com
It is a beautiful tribute to a dear wife and mom. The words are a wonderful testimony to the grace of the Lord and such an encouragement. I know that Jacque's Place will continue to be a comfort to many and my prayer is that many will turn to the Lord Jesus and find the peace Jacque had as she left this world. I know that I will see this dear lady face-to-face in a future day because of our shared faith. I'll be in line for a hug.
Christine -
I was so shocked to hear of Jacque's passing. It was so sudden. I will miss her.
I hate cancer.
-
I am so saddened to hear of Jacque's passing. I knew from reading the boards that she wasn't doing well, but I aways remained hopeful not just for her, but everyone going through this. My husband just lost his cousing to bc in October. Cancer sucks.
Lisa
-
I am so shocked - one of our own dear ladies....gone! I was just starting to feel like all of us had licked this damn thing....March was almost a year ago when we all jumped on this wagon.
F--- CANCER.
-
I miss all of my sisters! I think we are all in shock with the death of Jacque. I think of each of you and remember you each in my prayers each day. Hope everyone one is doing well.
Love,
Nancy
-
Yes Nancy, Jacque is just on my mind so much. I feel so close to all you ladies. I know it seems like we're all going our separate ways, but I still feel such a closeness with you. Who else was with us every step of the way and understood what we were going through?
I have a PET scan tomorrow. I'm hoping I don't get any bad news, but there is no reason to think that I will. I just have one of those doctors that likes to check. I'm kinda glad, because I have never understood how it's posible that early detection is completely unimportant with mets.
I love you all and miss you, too!

Hi Everyone!
It's been tough for all of us here lately, I think. When one of us is sick or worse, we all feel it.
I've been stressed for the last week as today was my first mammo and ultrasound post tx. And, I'm all clear!! So, thank the Lord for His mercy. I've been weepy and crabby and pretty out of sorts - amazing what a couple of little tests can do for you. I have blood tests in January and then another check in June. As I've said before, it's weird to go from being so micromanaged to flying solo.
Miss S, I'll be praying for you to have a clear scan. Love your new avatar. Maybe I'll colour my hair. . .
Love to you all,
Christine -
Miss S - prayers coming your way for a clear scan today. It's good that your doc likes to keep a check on everything. How's the heart doing?
Christine - praises for the all clear!
I'm trying to set up an appt with a PS to discuss reconstruction. Not sure if I want more surgery or if I just want to have the uni-boob taken off or just stay lopsided.....decisions, decisions.
Love,
Nancy
-
I am so so in shock. I came in to get some support from all of you the other day and saw that Jacque passed. I cried so much. I have a new lump and my doctor had me go for an emergency mam and ultra sound and C/T scan. I was so scared. When I heard the news I just lost it. She was such a joy and was always so positive. I had an emotional break down.
I did get the news that I was fine and almost felt guilty. I will always cherish life and take a piece of Jacque with me.
Melissa

i had a m'gram this week, but won't find out the results till jan 2. argh.
of course, they had me fill out this form asking if i had any tenderness, so i start feeling myself up in the waiting room to see....
melissa, i'm glad u are fine. missS, keep us posted on u.
any news of Taurie?
-
terri and Miss S i pray that your results are good news.
great news Christine.
Nancy it is a tough decision whether to go under the knife again or not.
My C/T scan did say I have a large pool of fluid and I am seeing a surgeon on Monday and hopefully they well try to drain it. It also showed some scaring of the lung from radiation but not to worry they say?
I am just so happy and blessed to know you all!
Thank you all for your support. It means a lot to me.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Melissa

I had my post mammo and got the all clear and now on Femara. Things are going well but I'm starting to feel joint pain..YUCK.
Terri and Miss S, I pray that you too will have the all clear.
Melissa, glad it was some scaring and a pool of fluid, my how our minds can race now..huh?
WTG Christine on the all clear, what super news to get.
Well, before Christmas, I'm going back to blond. My hairdresser tested some hair and it colored just fine so I got the green light! And, the biggest news of all that I have...drum roll..I'm going to be a Grandma!!! First one..I only had one child and with the way she talked..I'd be gone before she would have any kids. God works in great ways and I am so blessed right now. God may take someone from us be He seems to give us someone back...Hugs to All...rosebud
