I have read here on bc.org that they have found that taking tamoxifen for 2 years and switching to an AI is even better than just taking an AI for the entire 5 years.  My onc seems to think this is the best way for me to go also... So I will try the Tamoxifen first.

I have just read so much bad info. about Tamoxifen that I am worried.

    Thanks

Hey, ladies!  I don't have much time on the puter.  Need to get my shower.  Kids are coming tomorrow and I'm tired.

Harley, please don't fret.  Some women even though they are post-menopausal do take tamox.  My SIL couldn't take an AI therefore, had to go on tamox.  Like Msannie57 said, Tamox was the only alternative for many years.  Heck, who knows what these AIs will do to us who are taking them.

And, no, the surgeon cannot be sure he got all the breast tissue.  That's already been explained to you.  Now, I'm still wondering how the heck you're gonna have a mammo with implants.  I think your general surgeon may have that wrong.  Of course I don't have implants, but I did have A single mastectomy.  The only way I would think they could look at our chests would be with an MRI.  Of course, I may be wrong.  The gals on the reconstruction board would know.  Or you could call the place where you would get a mammo and find out.

Oh, I remember putting that first pill in my mouth.  It was hard to swallow. LOL

Take care, sweetie, and hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

    Shirley,

    Thanks!

I agree, and I think I should get an MRI because I think I need to be screened, but how can I get a mammo. with implants?  I don't trust mammograms, anyway.

Well, it's day #4 on Tamoxifen and so far, so good.  Sometimes, I feel a little 'warm', but it HAS been warm for the past few days, so I don't think it was hot flashes... well, maybe I had ONE 'warm' flash, in the Home Depot.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    Harley
